Revolutions start, because a community of people needs change. Typically, this results in one leader being overthrown and a new leader being established. In Animal Farm, by George Orwell, Napoleon becomes the new leader. In the industrial revolution, Samuel Slater was the father of the revolution. Another similarity most revolutions share is the establishment of a new set of rules is. In Animal Farm, Napoleon introduces the commandments. In the Industrial Revolution, people started to get new ideas of what to invent which changed the way they thought. Furthermore, Revolutions sometimes fail because people break away completely or start to alter the rules. In Animal Farm, the character Mollie leaves completely. Also the pigs start to alter the rules for their own needs. In the Industrial Revolution, ideas and inventions fail. Revolutions fail when their leader isn’t strong enough, popular enough, or good enough. The success or failure of a revolution depends on the value of the leader.
In order to classify as a revolution, there must be change. Before the revolution in Animal Farm, the animals are completely controlled by the farm owners, the Jones’. The animals also talked about how it would be without man in control. The animals are not given a lot of food on the farm. Old Mayor says, “Remove man from the scene, and the root of hunger and overwork is abolished forever” (Orwell, 7). The animals believe that man is keeping them from what they want or need. The text also states, “It is summed up in a single word-man. Man is the only real enemy we have” (Orwell, 7). The enemy of all revolutions is the people. People create their own problems with some of their own actions and can create other people problems as well. Man can be ...

...m pig to man, from man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it is impossible to say which was which” (Orwell, 141). This quote means that the pigs decided to turn into exactly what they broke away from in the beginning. The value of the revolution is determined based on the value of the leaders and the system in which they base their revolution on, in this case, equality. All of these examples are examples of how the revolution failed.
It is strongly believed that without the industrial revolution and some other products, computer technology and information processing would not have been possible (Christensen and Levinson, 353). The industrial revolution put us where we are today because of the improvements in everything it did. Without the revolution, we wouldn't have the life we have today with all the inventions that led us to where we are today.
A revolution takes place when a group does not agree with the current government and the policies they have in place. In some cases, revolutions turn violent during the attempt to overthrow the government. This is exactly what took place during the French Revolution, 1789 and the Bolshevik Revolution, 1917. Overall both revolutions found the beginning in the poor. The poor struggled under the rule of the monarchy; there was a strain on resources and high taxes. There were famine and food shortages due to bad weather, and WW1 respectively. In France, the nobility, first and second estates, did not have to pay these high taxes which further angered the poor. Both French and Russian nobility and monarchy were to blame for the suffering experienced. In the French and Bolshevik Revolutions there were philosophical ideas that guided the people to put a stop to their suffering, these ideas fueled extremist groups that brought upon violence and overall the goal of these Revolutions were not permanent. French and Bolshevik Revolutions had revolutionary ideas that went hand in hand with revolutionary violence and ultimately left the countries in chaos for some time after.
(Bailey) Overall, the Industrial Revolution brought more money to North America which caused the country to flourish and it kept the country alive and helped it grow to what it is today. The Industrial Revolution, in my belief, was the most important thing that ever happened to America. The country needed money and the Industrial Revolution brought the money it needed. The cities began to grow because of the people moving to the factories. The number of jobs also grew and this was good for the society.
George Orwell used an English language so simply and accurately to express what he mean, and at the same time with great meaning. He was telling the story about of a revolution by farm animals against their cruel and dissolute master, and about their subsequent fortunes. This was the book that Orwell most prepared for. In 1943, Orwell felt people's admiration for Russian war effort. He was very conscious, so he felt how English communists used their position as unofficial representatives of the USSR to prevent the truth from coming out. Also Orwell was an anti-communist, throughout the book he is on the side of the animals. Also one of the Orwell's goals in writing "Animal Farm" was the portray the Russian Revolution (Bolshevik) on 1917.
After the Animal Revolution the pigs take the initiative and place themselves in charge because of their claim of having higher intelligence. Over time this power begins to distort the basis of their revolt by recreating the same social situation they were previously in. “When the pigs takeover they claim that their goal is to preside a farm of equal animals, all working together to support one another, yet power quickly proves too much for a pig.” Though the animals originally took over the farm to increase the animal’s independence as a whole, because of the pig’s superiority they soon take the place of the humans further limiting their independence.
...re breaking every rule that they themselves had put forth in accordance with Old Major’s revolutionary vision. Animal Farm was a mirror image of communism gone awry in the Soviet Union. It also shows Marx’s naivety of the fact that there will always be the clever that take advantage of the ignorant. By keeping the population ignorant, the clever gain even more power, which is was happened in the Soviet Union and Animal Farm. The ones that took part in the revolutions would never realize that they were holding the short end of the stick, just as they were in their previous state of affairs. They were cold, miserable, and starving. In their brainwashed state they still believed that the dismal state they were in was better than their situation before the revolution. George Orwell finished his book on a somber note, the state in which Joseph Stalin left the Soviet Union.
Throughout history there have been many important revolutions that have help to shape society as it is today. There are different causes, from political to religious, economic to social. Any revolution affects those in society, and creates changes for the people in the society. There are three important revolutions that took place in the late 18th century that changed the world for the better. The French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Industrial Revolution all took place in the late 1700s. Although each had a different purpose, they all lead to a better way of life for many. The French and American Revolutions are examples of some which are brought about and enforced solely by the people. Although they had different reasons behind them, both had the same idea behind them- social change. The Industrial Revolution was different, it was a technological revolution which had positive social outcomes. While one can easily compare the French and American Revolutions because of their social causes and outcomes, the Industrial Revolution can only be compared to the other two when examining their outcomes.
Pigs walking on two feet, horses and sheep talking. This is how George Orwell satirizes human nature in his classic novel Animal Farm. Animal Farm is an allegory of the Russian Revolution of 1917. The title of the book is also the setting for the action in the novel. The animals in the story decide to have a revolution and take control of the farm from the humans. Soon the story shows us how certain groups move from the original ideals of the revolution to a situation where there is domination by one group and submission by all the others. The major idea in this story is the political corruption of what was once a pure political ideal. Orwell uses satire to ridicule human traits in his characters such as Napoleon and Squealer. There are several different characters in the novel utilizing animals as symbols of people in real life during the Russian Revolution. Napoleon is the leader of the pigs that ultimately come to dominate the farm. The characteristics that we associate with pigs , lazy, greedy, and pushy are meant to symbolize the characteristics that the leaders of the Russian Revolution exhibited. Napoleon is admired by all of the animals because he is their leader. All of the animals believe that their leader wants to fulfill all of their needs. They also are convinced that Napoleon’s decisions are made the best interest of the animals. Napoleon’s piglike qualities are shown throughout the story. He exhibited greediness when he sold the dying horse, Boxer to a slaughterhouse for money so that he and the other pigs could purchase whiskey. Orwell ridicules human nature through Napoleon in the sense that he is trying to show how the greedy and power hungry eventually end in corruption.
A revolution is no piece of cake. To make a revolution, there are a few necessary ingredients, like a reason to revolt, a well-organized battle plan, and a powerful leader. Mix these all together, and there it is. A powerful Revolution. There are two specific revolutions that are very similar, and very successful.
Most revolutions occur because of widespread dissatisfaction with an existing system. Poverty and injustice under cruel, corrupt, or incapable rulers combined with social problems is a recipe for disaster. One can only push people so far. If other ways of establishing the changes that must be made does not work, then creating a revolution might be the only option left.
“After the revolution, many people had hoped for a government made up of elected representatives of workers, peasants, merchants, and minorities…. Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving and the rest he keeps for himself". So Jones and the old government are successfully uprooted by the animals. Little do they know, history will repeat itself with Napoleon and the pigs.” (Animal Farm)
During 1917, Russia underwent one of the most famous revolutions in history; with the sole intention to improve the nation. However, the original plan for the revolution was quickly put aside as the new leaders began to abuse their power; this brought on more than two years of slaughter and economic decrease. Within the text Animal Farm, George Orwell portrays the working class animals as naïve, while also having a lack of personal awareness; the pigs, however, were corrupted and manipulative. The pig’s hypocrisy against their own rules and ideas lead them to become the farms most powerful figure. Nevertheless, none of this would have been possible without the animals constantly turning a blind eye and failing to acknowledge when they were
George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a political satire of a totalitarian society ruled by a mighty dictatorship, in all probability a fable for the events surrounding the Russian Revolution of 1917. The animals of “Manor Farm” overthrow their human master after a long history of mistreatment. Led by the pigs, the farm animals continue to do their work, only with more pride, knowing that they are working for themselves, as opposed to working for humans. Little by little, the pigs become dominant, gaining more power and advantage over the other animals, so much so that they become as corrupt and power-hungry as their predecessors, the humans.
The animals in the book “Animal Farm” hoped to achieve unity, equality. trust/truth, prosperity, better quality of life, freedom and individuality, in terms of the revolution. This was achieved at the beginning of the revolution, which made it a success, but in the end the revolution was a failure. The farm, in many ways, was very prosperous when the revolution began. The animals were given an education, “the reading and writing classes were however a great success,” which made them feel equal to the humans because they were now learning in the same way the humans did.
The modern world is extremely reliant on technology, whether it has to deal with smart phones, cars, or medicine. Without the Industrial Revolution, the present day would not be the same. The Industrial Revolution was a blessing for the middle class because production, healthcare, and transportation improved. Industrialization improved the lives for all groups of people in Europe because of the advancement of technology. Lifestyles began to improve due in part to the introduction of efficient machines rather than hand production. It was necessary for industrialization to occur in order for the large population to sustain.
The movie “Animal Farm” shows a process of change from oppression to freedom and back to oppression again. This processes is revealed through several of the characters in the film. At the beginning of the film, the animals are treated cruelly by Farmer Jones. Farmer Jones beats the animals, threatens them with guns and whips, and does not give them any respect or love. In agreement with what Old Major tells them at the secret meeting, the animals become tired of Mr. Jones stealing what they produce and selling it. They are also are annoyed with not getting their rightful share of Mr. Jones’s wealth. After the animals work together to overthrow Mr. Jones who they claim to be a “tyrant”, they become free and destroy everything that
