Comparing Venus And Adonis And The Rape Of Lucrece

Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway at 18 and had three children, twin girls and a son,
with her. Throughout his life, Shakespeare’s parents did not approve of his choice to be an actor
and neither did his wife. Joining Lord Chamberlain’s men, Shakespeare invested his money and
became quite wealthy from doing so. In 1594 the plague closed theaters for two years, and
because it was closing theaters nearly every year after, he moved back to Stratford and then
retired there in 1610. During his time in Stratford he wrote 2 more famous poems, “Venus and
Adonis” and “The Rape of Lucrece”. Critics praised his work and he became known as “The
Bard”. Shakespeare’s 37 plays revealed his gift for humor, and he was well loved. His final play
was written

in 1614, and he died in 1616 at the age of 52 in Stratford. Since his poems had been
cheaply published, they turned out inaccurate and many people did not realize the scripts had the
potential to be a work of art. By the end of his life he became a revered actor and playwright. In
1623, two actors published his plays not for the profit or fame, but because they wanted to
preserve the magnificent work of William Shakespeare. Shakespeare seemed like a very
interesting person and I’m glad to know he was a kind person. That is something I did not know.
