In the “The Raven” a man is tortured by the memory of his late wife. “The Cask of Amontillado” is about seeking revenge through a murder. Edgar Allan Poe uses symbolism and foreshadowing to create a dark tone in his writings. Symbolism is shown throughout “The Raven” to establish the tone.
