The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has made countless brand new inventions in order to help the astronauts up in space over the years. They needed to make these new things so they could do the same things they would do here on earth but without gravity and many other differences. Over the years a lot of things we use in our everyday lives were originally made for people in space but actually ended up benefiting people on earth as well! These accidental inventions are also called spinoffs. Today i will only talk about three of these things which include water purification, enriched baby formula, and even memory foam! So as we know water is most definitely needed for our survival as humans here on earth. Therefore it is
Unlike their Soviet counterparts, who were subject to "government-sponsored terror", American scientists faced more favorable conditions (Eaton par. 3). American scientists also received tremendous public support, and many inventions often benefited everyday life (Eaton par. 4). An importance source of motivation for those involved in the United States' space efforts was the fact that research led to the development of many pieces of everyday technology. Technology such as "wireless communications" was derived from NASA's research ("Space Race" par. 24). These technologies not only benefited NASA, but they also benefited ordinary life. In addition, the American space program received a high amount of public support. Media, including television, films, and magazines, developed public awareness and public support for space exploration (Nagel and Hermsen
NASA is a symbol of all things American, including the positive and the negative. NASA displays technical excellence, unflappable determination, and a sense of innovation that some could call uniquely American. NASA also shows a profound organizational malaise, an unwillingness to respond to new technologies, an inability to operate safely, and a bloated bureaucracy that refuses to stay on budget. NASA is quite simply, the best and worst of the United States, summed up in one organization.
During the age of space exploration, many new types of technology were created and introduced for public usage based on technology used for space exploration related research. These types of technology include artificial limbs, anti-icing systems for planes, firefighter gear, enriched baby food, and portable cordless vacuums4. These forms of technology became popular due to how useful they were and became essential parts of people's lives across the world. Another way that space exploration influenced social change was is how it created unity amongst the world. Events such as the moon landing in 1969, the first American women astronaut by the name of Sally Ride being launched into space in 1981, or even the tragic event that happened in 1986 where Challenger burned up and killed all crew members on board in a mere 73 seconds after lift off inspired the entire world to put aside their differences and unite together in order to fully appreciate the accomplishments and advances in technology and information that had been being made rapidly right before their very eyes5, 6. Space exploration led to many new discoveries about the world around us and outside our reach, and led to the creation of many new forms of technologies that are now essential parts of our lives, thus having a major impact on social change both during the past and in the
Is water our most precious resource? In the novel A Long Walk to Water, writer Linda Sue Parks writes about two young children named Nya and Salva who live in Southern Sudan. Their biggest challenge is finding water to drink. Nya and Salva must hunt for the nearest water and conserve it for their long journey home. Without water, extreme dehydration and even death may occur. I believe water is our most precious resource.
it can be seen we are all equal in the need for water to survive and
These are the reasons why I believe there should be more investment in space research and technology. It would be a time consuming and financially draining quest, but the pay off in new technology, applications, resources, and expansion opportunities make it a goal to strive for. As our rate of consumption of Earth’s natural resources continues to increase, it is imperative that we invest in the research of outer space as a possible solution to sustaining the human race.
Drinking water is essential and indispensable to life itself possible on the face of the earth, it is much more than a well, a resource, a commodity, drinking water is specifically a human right of first order and an element essential national sovereignty itself and, most likely, whoever controls the water control the economy and life in the not so distant future.
In Genesis, water is a defining necessity for all life. Without water there were no crops, for
According to NASA 360 Vodcast, "Space exploration has inspired many inventions... one in ten inventions has been related to the space program." (Source #1). 1/10 of the advances in science and technology have been made in low Earth orbit or on the moon. Now, imagine the scientific and technological advancements scientists could make if a deep space mission were conducted.
Several inventions created for space exploration
Detractors of public sector space agencies like NASA frequently argue that expending money and resources on sending humans into space is wasteful and irresponsible during shaky economic times. After all, in 2010 the U.S. Census Bureau in recorded 46.2 million people in poverty, the largest number in the 52 years the figure has been published. Putting tax dollars into a shuttle and sending it on an extraplanetary voyage is uneconomical in the eyes of many. However, beneficial developments of the space program can be found in airports, hospitals, laboratories, and homes around the world. Foam created for protecting the outside of a shuttle passing through the harsh atmosphere has found use as a durable, light-weight molding material for artificial limbs. Research and development for NASA'S programs has parented a network of hundreds of communication satellites used around the world on a daily basis and monitored by NASA. Robotic arms used for repairs, maintenance, and hazardous labor in sp...
Water is the most important substance in our evolution and our daily lives. Without water,
Water is an essential nutrient that our body requires every day. Without water human life cannot be sustained. Water deprivation kills faster than lack of any other nutrient. People do not think of water as a nutrient and don’t realize the important role of water in the body functions.
Water is the most vital part of life. Water is needed from humans, to plants and other organisms, and to do basically everything. Water allows our bodily functions to work and to remove waste from our bodies. Plants need water to grow, and humans need plants to gr...
By being in a very technologically advanced era, scientists can invent revolutionary devices never thought of. NASA is doing that right now and has been doing that since it began. They are not only climbing the stairs in space exploration but in the medical industry, too. Nevertheless, they are forever changing millions of lives by using all they have discovered. Most of all, they are teaching people a life lesson, to always use the things you have for the greater good. NASA has achieved profound success ever since their start in 1958 and they will continue to make discovery and innovation their first and foremost goal for years to come.
