The ancient reading, “The Epic of Creation/Enuma Elish” and the beginning of the Holy Bible Old Testament, Genesis are two distinct passages that share many different qualities. Ranging from how the universe was ever created, to the origin of power and rule over others, both stories reveal persistence, strength, and honor. Genesis 1:1-2:4, Genesis 2:4-3:34 from the Holy Bible, and “The Epic of Creation”, have similar beginnings that determine the endings of both stories. In the famous creation story of “The Epic of Creation/Enuma Elish”, a line that specifically stood out to me was, “When of the gods none had been called into being”. After reading the line in Genesis 1:2, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep…”, there seems chaos in both scenarios that without the reign of a God there was no control over anything. This story demonstrates a different religion as the one presented in the book of Genesis. In the passage of “The Epic of Creation”, there are multiple Gods, which demonstrate polytheism. Polytheism is the worshipping or belief in many Gods. In contrast in the book of Genesis, there are a couple of verses that all project the same message of the belief of one divine God. As referred to in Genesis, everything made is from Him, and by Him only. This religion would definitely come from a different culture of people, as the culture presented in the passage of “The Epic of Creation”. The religion the people in Genesis would have worshipped would’ve been monotheism. Monotheism, is the belief that one would worship or follow one God. From the beginning the author in the book of Genesis, wants the audience to know that there is nothing to fear, all is true and divine from the power of the “all
