I would like to have Peeta as a friend because he is very kind, caring, and genuine. Peeta is the guy who would like to see you happy. He tells you anything that is on his mind but not things that are personal or rude. On page 37 paragraph 2, Peeta gave bread to Katniss because she was starving. On page 95 paragraph 3, Peeta wrapped his jacket around Katniss to stop her from shivering. During the interview, Peeta was being very honest to Katniss and everyone else by expressing his feelings anonymously to the viewers and the host. After the interview Katniss figured out that he was talking about her. Before the games began, Peeta would help Katniss by giving her food when she was starving even though he would get punished for it. It was obvious …show more content…
Both of them risked their lives for loved ones. They also had basically wars in the games it is Capitol vs Districts and in Romeo and Juliet it is Montague - Capulet feud. They both are star - crossed lovers. In both books and movies there were many deaths. I didn’t really see any comparison between The Hunger Games and Romeo and Juliet before but then I found many things that are similar. The things I would change would be that there was a lot of deaths so I would shorten the amount of deaths. I felt that Peeta has done a lot of things for Katniss so she should repay Peeta of the kind deeds he has done. I didn’t really like how he joined hands with the Careers even though he was saving Katniss he should have thought of something else to protect Katniss. Even though I want Katniss and Peeta to survive and win the game I think it was unfair that only on district can win. I thought that if it was 2 different people it would have been fair to the people who was fighting on their own since their partner already died. The book would have been better if Peeta told Katniss how he felt the moment he realized he loved
What makes scene 4.4 in Romeo and Juliet unique is the way in which the dynamic between the public and the characters is handled. The people in the audience are put in a situation where they know more than the characters on the stage. Apart from the spectators the only other person who knows that Juliet is not actually dead, but just appears to be, is Friar Laurence. Shakespeare is well aware of the possibilities that this situation presents him with and uses them to enhance the scene and give it a second layer of meaning. He contrasts the joy of his characters in the beginning of the scene with their sadness at the end with his use of caesuras and repeated words in different types of situations.
In the novel The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen did many courageous things to help Peeta and try and keep both of them alive as long as possible. By doing so Peeta and her won the Hunger Games. She saved Prim from going into the Games and saved Peeta from dying during
Lessons let the author or director try to teach us while enjoying their movie or book. “Hope, it is the only think stronger than hope. A little hope is effective. A lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it’s contained.” Frost, president of the Hunger Games, tells us when Seneca Crane, head game-maker of the Hunger Games, about having a winner in the Hunger Games and containing it. Also sacrifice, Katniss makes a huge sacrifice when she takes her sisters place, knowing that her life could be lost. While Juliet risks her life by drinking the potion and not knowing what the side effects could cause. Now love, the love and feeling building between Katniss and Peeta, when they’re in the cave and Peeta is telling Katniss that he has been looking and watching out after her since the rainy day at the bakery. Romeo and Juliet’s unconditional love, from love at first sight. Romeo knowing Juliet loves him back unlike Rosaline. As well as love/hate relationships, Cato and Peeta get along at first but then he betrays Peeta by almost taking his life away. In general Kato didn’t get along with others as well, because he tries to cause fight and other things like Tybalt. Tybalt seems to be a turning point, always keeps the story going, but again he has by far a strong love/hate relationship with Mercutio. Whenever they run into each other Tybalt always wants to put up a fight till it gets to a point where he kills
The Hunger Games was a good movie when it came out. This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from the 12th district, which Gale, her friend gives her tips on hunting. One day her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is chosen for the Hunger Games, and in order to save her, she volunteers instead to serve in the Games along with Peeta Mellark. During a TV interview, Peeta confesses her love for Katniss Everdeen, which causes the enragement of the latter; however, she later forgives him as he explains to her that it was only to gain sponsors. During the Hunger Games, she did not receive a lot of supplies except some medicine to cure a wound, but Districts 1 and 2 almost won the Game due to their training, and amount of supplies which Katniss destroys but cannot recover any of them. The Hunger Games was one of the best movies I ever watched because it has a little bit of everything and it captures the real-life survival game that we live on a daily basis.
Most of you are probably not fighting for the love of your life, against the views of many people, on an island right now. That's not the case for the characters in Romeo and Juliet and The Hunger Games. In The Hunger Games, Katniss's sister Primrose is picked as tribute to be submitted into the games to fight against 11 different districts. Katniiss, who is in District 12 is from a very, very, poor coal-mining district located in the region formerly known as Appalachia.(Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games). Katniss being the caring sister she is, tributes herself to save her sister. She must leave behind her love, Gale. When she leaves him behind, she meets Peeta. Peeta was also picked to be tribute in the games. Katniss finds out that Peeta has feelings for her, and she tries to fight the urge to love him as much as she loved Gale. Throughout the book and the movie you see that she falls for every little thing about him, the only problem is that she may have to kill him to save herself. (Gary Ross, The Hunger Games)
This article compares Katniss to Harry Potter and Bella Swan. It says the Hunger Games has a rougher plot than the Harry Potter series. The article asked “You can't help but think, if I were in that situation,...
The Hunger Games are one of the most emotional, viscous and cruel books I’ve read before. But both heroes Katniss and Peeta have survived to live the next day. They are both winners and Katniss lives to feed her family once more. It was a fantastic book of amazing features, characters, themes and creativity.
Everything Peeta did was for Katniss. According to Kendra Cherry, “people who rush in to help others in the face of danger and adversity do so because they genuinely care about the safety and well-being of other people” (2). Peeta could always see the bigger picture. Peeta knew that Katniss could make a different and could bring the Capitol down. He was willing to do anything it took for Katniss, including die for her. He never compromised who he was in the games. Heroes are people who act with dignity under pressure.
Humans have many ambitions in life, yet most people’s ambitions fall into one spectrum. This spectrum? Love. People often express their desire for love, yet don’t realize that love is carried with them throughout their lives. In today’s society, ‘love’ is a commonly used term to describe a relationship based on affection for another person. However, love has many levels of complexities. Ancient greeks recognized the various forms love can take. Some of which include eros, storge, and philia. William Shakespeare, in his classic drama “Romeo and Juliet,” and other authors use eros, storge, and philia to explore the complexities of love and its effects.
Through the flaws in the characterization of his characters, Shakespeare allows their weakness to manipulate and cloud their judgment. This fundamentally leads to the outcome of Romeo and Juliet, with each weakness presenting a conflict that alters the characters fate. Being especially true with the star-crossed lovers, William Shakespeare leads their perfect love into tragedy with these conflicts. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and Tybalt all contribute to conflicts that enhance the plot. From destructive flaws in their characterizations, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and Tybalt are all consequently controlled by their weakness, therefore affecting the outcome of the play.
“Books and movies are like apples and oranges. They both are fruit, but taste completely different” said, one of the famous authors, Stephen King. Exactly, as stated, all people have different tastes; somebody would prefer to read a book rather watch a movie, somebody would prefer other way round. “The Hunger Games” is a perfect example of story, when the book and the movie are equally breathtaking and unforgettable. Suzanne Collins, the famous American writer, released the first novel of the trilogy “The Hunger Games” in 2008. The story about young women Katniss Everdeen, who fights with the fortune to just stay alive, became popular; therefore, the film director Gary Ross presented a film adaptation of “The Hunger Games” in 2012. By comparing and contrasting supporting characters, perspective, and love theme, it is clear that the movie, “The Hunger Games” (Gary Ross, 2008) has serious flaws; however, they do not ruin the overall picture.
The Hunger Games and our society today are similar and yet different in many ways as it’s stated. Katniss and Peeta would be considered normal by today’s terms and behaviors. In the movie, they seem very different than our society acts today just because they have to participate in a killing event at the young age of 16. That’s normally a freshman in high school. Most freshmen are not ready for that gore or violence yet, and would not do well if they were installed in the movie. Overall, the movie really entertained me but I do not think our society and their society are alike in many ways.
The Hunger Games is set in world called Panem that was once America, before the Capitol was overcome in some unexplained, apocalyptic war. As punishment for that aggression, the remains were divided into 12 districts. Every year each district has to send one boy and one girl between 12 and 18 years old, chosen by lottery, to compete in a nationally televised event called “the Hunger Games.” The purpose of this is to create a mass killing spree with only one survivor. What really twists this storyline is when two tributes from the same district fall in love and fight to protect each other until they are the last ones left in the games. The two go to extreme measures to keep one another out of danger. “You're still trying to protect me. Real or not real," he whispers. "Real," I answer. "Because that's what you and I do, protect each other” (Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games). Because the hunger games is such a gruesome event, the things Katniss and Peeta did for each other aren't typical things couples would give up for eachother. These two would share supplies and weapons along with going as far as killing off an attacking enemy. Seeing how far Katniss and Peeta were willing to go to be with each other gave me a better understanding of why Romeo and Juliet fought to never let anything get in between them. Even though Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet and the two families have an ancient rivalry they did not let that stand in the way of being with each other. “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name! Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, ...
In Act One of William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, we meet Romeo, Mercutio, and Tybalt. Right away, we get an idea of who these characters are and what kind of role they will play throughout the story. Romeo, Mercutio, and Tybalt share many distinctive characteristics and personalities in the story. We learn that Romeo is the romantic and handsome son of the Montagues. In the beginning of the story, he was depressed, but his mood quickly changed as the story went on. We also learn that Mercutio is Romeo’s closest and good friend who tries to make Romeo forget about his first love, Rosaline. He is a great entertainer and he’s very sarcastic too. Instantly, we learn that Tybalt is a Capulet and Juliet’s cousin. He is very hot-headed, aggressive, and violent. He loathes the Montagues very much. Finally, in Act One of William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, we meet three characters, Romeo, Mercutio, and Tybalt and we directly get an idea of what the characters are like.
They both take place in a dark and futuristic world and have a leader or leaders that they must follow and if not, there must be extreme consequences...even death. As Equality and Liberty fall in love, so do Katniss and Peeta. In my opinion, a dystopian society is a lot like our world today, just at a more drastic level. Dystopian literature is basically giving us advice through another teenagers perspective. It is an indirect form of advice that could be anything to with love, conflicts with other people, or even things like school. We learn a lot about oppression in both of these stories which causes us to really think about it and makes us look into the future to see what it will be like in reality.
