Celebrity status is a big part of today’s culture, as well as in the 1960s. The astronauts have their similarities and differences to today’s celebrity show culture. The astronauts and their wives, in the book The Astronaut Wives Club, and the reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, are similar how the media portrays their trendsetter and role model status; however, the worthiness of their popularity differs.
The media portrayal of the Kardashians and the Astronauts wives are similar in their appearance on news outlets. Many people believe that the Kardashian do not deserve to be famous and there is nothing for them to be famous for. Critics have said that they are “famous for being famous.” The Kardashians originally got famous because of their father, who was a lawyer and the defendant of OJ Simpson. Their TV show includes drama, for example, on an episode in season one, Kris throws Kim’s phone and Kim decides to throw Kris’s phone because it is “what she deserves.” The show doesn’t have any real worth other than to provide entertainment for people. In comparison, the astronauts wives had to deal with real hard situations involving their husbands and having to worry about them every time they went to work. The wives would have to watch the space flights and wait until it was over to see if their husbands survive. The wives always had to deal with the anxiety they have and pain if their husbands didn’t come back. Most wives would have nightmares about this moment and they would have to be the ones to tell their children that their dad isn’t coming home. This makes the astronaut wives worthy of their popularity because they had a lot to deal with and many people were interested in the space
Celebrities hold a strong power to influence the lifestyle trends of an audience. As members of the entertainment industry, celebrities are looked up to as role models by a large general public. With such high exposure, celebrities essentially hold the power to positively or negatively influence their followers, from fashion trends to behavioral tendencies, the attitudes and lifestyle habits of celebrities influence cultural qualities and the way in which many people function within society. Mindy Kaling’s career started when she became an intern on the popular show “Late Night with Conan O’ Brien”. Mindy was a 19-year-old sophomore at Dartmouth College when she first started her internship.
It's been a few years now but America is still obsessed with "Keeping up With the Kardashian's". What is this obsession all about? Are we fascinated by their luxurious lifestyle? Perhaps we're entertained by their zany antics. Whatever reason you may have to watch the show, it's undeniable that Kim Kardashian is the "star". Never before has someone been so universally loved and hated at the same time. However these days, the reasons to love her are seriously diminishing.
These judgements are made because celebrities that do not do try at all to get to where they are now or do not do what other celebrities did. Some celebrities are only famous because of the looks and because the person that they are together in a relationship with is a really famous celebrity. The assumptions and visualization that are made by people about celebrities wearing fancy, expensive clothes and having houses that look like mansions are basically true. When an assumption about celebrities is made by a person or fan about the star it is usually a positive statement and most of the time people make a good statement because they have experience meeting the celebrity or it is seen in the internet. On an online video created by Becca Frucht, a reporter and associate producer, it shows how the celebrity and actor Channing Tatum, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Andrew Garfield surprises the fans by disguising as another person and by putting on makeup. This action made by celebrities can show that not all celebrities do what they do for fame, because these actors like to make and see fans happy. When a person on social media talks bad about a celebrity that have never met but do it become of the things that are said by others and believe

As celebrities stand distinctively among the masses and cast out their halos of personality charm and strong suits of skilled abilities, the controversies about them are unavoidable shadows created from their fame. With the popularization of celebrity culture, information synchronization, and communication technology, their lives are publicly exposed and various forms of media (depending on eras) record their flaws. Tough information transmitted to audiences are frequently biased, evidences of objective reality remains, even in the remote past.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians is a stereo-typical reality show that focuses on attention grabbing antics and high impact drama. When “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” made their debut, it brought something new to the table of reality TV causing the viewers to go wild. While the Kardashians audience consists of middle age to adult women, there are still a large amount of fans that are men. Many of the characters in the Kardashian family are known for their vain, arrogant and high strung personalities. Stereo typical portrayals of how women should react are shown throughout the show. Multiple viewers continues to embrace the illusions that all women are cranky and vain, only interested in living a luxurious lifestyle.
It cannot be put in better terms but, “Whether it's the sex tape's doing or not, Kim is a household name. An entrepreneur. A budding singer. A sometime actress. A designer. A perfumista. And everything in between. In late November 2010, she was even hired by Charmin to open up a new bathroom in Times Square. Now that's famous. (And kind of weird.) Her wedding to Kris Humphries pulled in $18 million in one day. There are obvious downsides to living your life, and love, in the public eye; Kim filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage.” (Wetpaint.com) Even Kim has her own theory about how she rose to fame, “"It started when I went out on a date with Nick Lachey," Kim writes in Kardashian Konfidential. "Of course the paparazzi took pictures, because people were curious about who he was with. So the next night I was out with Paris Hilton," she continues. "We were in her car and the paparazzi started taking pictures. Usually they would shout, 'Paris! Paris! Paris!' [But] they started yelling 'Kim! Kim! Kim!' I wanted to hide, and Paris and I just looked at each other and laughed. She said, 'Whatever you do, just smile.' I thought, this is so weird, I don't know what’s going on. It was surreal." Maybe the question of why Kim is famous is an open-ended one. Maybe her rise to fame is based on multiple
The star text of a celebrity can help to decipher their image and transitions they may undergo. In order to better understand these transitions, one must know the definition of a star text. A star text is the sum of everything we affiliate with celebrities, which includes their body of work, promotion, publicity, and audience participation (Jackson, 08/09/16). One must note that “celebrity doesn 't happen because someone has extraordinary qualities – it is discursively constructed by the way in which the person is publicised and meanings about them circulate” (O 'Shaughnessy and Stadler 424). Destiny Hope Cyrus, “an American singer and actress, became a sensation in the television series
Fairy tales for me are a way we teach ourselves and others life lessons. If you go back to the origins of fairy tales you will come to realize that they were originally intended as scary stories that were told to children to persuade them to behave. The story of Rumpelstiltskin seemed to be no different . In the original story, The queen defeats him by calling him by his real name, thus telling children that evil does indeed have a name and therefore can be defeated. However in the retelling by Megan Engelhardt, Rumplestiltskin has been portrayed differently as well as the queen and her son.
They also create the best ways to fall for band wagon. If we look at the Kardashian lifestyle we see much of band wagon. Each one is on band wagon for anything that benefits them and brings them popularity. We can refer to Kim Kardashian who jumps on the fidget spinner trend. The fidget spinner has become a popular pastime in just the hands of anyone and are in reasonable price ranges. She responded that for a fathers day gift she had opened a new line. The “Daddy Money Fidget Spinner” and it is exactly what it sounds like: It's a gold fidget spinner in the shape of a dollar sign, and it has the word "daddy" written on it in cursive. You know, because it wouldn't be a proper Father's Day gift if it didn't say that and needed to figure it became a hit. (Jackson) The original developer and spinners were originated as a way to distract young children, so that they could play with a toy that could soothe their nerves. Ending with she has promoted and got fame and fortune as for the people who bought the fidget spinner because it is Kim. This statement is band wagon because a fidget spinner all serve the same purpose instead since Kim has made her own it is supposedly better. In the promotion of the band wagon is used to serve the community with a product that suites their interest. Kim Kardashian being a celebrity has added her own unique way of being able to sell more and jumping on the band
To fully discuss these topics, it is best to define what a celebrity and a psuedo-event is. The term ‘celebrity’ is often linked to ‘fame’, ‘stardom’, and ‘renown’. Development of mass media, during the twentieth century, including newpapers, radio, television, and now the Internet, gave rise to celebrity culture in the Western world. Media and publicity industries facilitate a growth of the ways the audience can consume celebrities after the creation, circulation, and promotion in the media (Drake and Miah). The celebrity, a represen...
There are many celebrities who have another side to them which people don’t really know about. Those public figures who are misunderstood can be an example to others who admire their work. Kim Kardashian is an actress, model and fashion designer. People think she is only famous because of her amazing body and beautiful face. On the other hand, some argue the only reason she became famous was because of a famous sex tape made public on the internet with a famous rapper named Ray-J back when they were dating. In fact, it first started when her dad, Robert Kardashian, was an attorney who helped O.J Simpson when he was accused of murder. That’s when the Kardashian family first became famous. Even though people don’t see Kim Kardashian as a role model, there are a few sides to her that no one knows about.
Over the last few decades celebrity and fame has changed dramatically, from Alexander the Great to Kim Kardashian. Talent and achievements no longer play a huge role when it comes to our celebrities. “Much modern celebrity seems the result of careful promotion or great good looks or something besides talent and achievement” (Epstein2) with that being said celebrity-creation has blossomed into an industry of its own. Keeping up with all the gossips from breaking up to hooking up, law suits and drama many might come to an agreement that celebrity culture is starting to be the great new art form in our new generation and that it ...

In a 1995 New York Times article “In contrast, 9 out of 10 of those polled could think of something
