Comparing Hitler and Napoleon
There were differences between Hitler and Napoleon, however I feel there were more similarities. They were both immigrants in the country they ended up ruling, both conquered most of Europe, both had radical views about fighting, and both were very quick in their fighting. However, the most significant similarities between the two leaders is how they were accepted as monarchs in a previously democratic society, and what they did for the countries after becoming monarchs.
Hitler and Napoleon were accepted as monarchs for three major reasons. Both countries were hoping for the returning strength of the monarchy. The people of Germany and France were tired of inflation, and threats of invasion, and both militaries preferred aggressive patriots at their head instead of a politician. Both countries needed someone because they were both in economic chaos. Both men were intent in building a new type of state with a new social order. Both enjoyed the advantage of more or less unlimited power, yet they assumed this power very carefully and legally.
When they assumed power they did much for their countries. They both pursued vigorous economic plans that balanced each countries' budgets, which had not been done in years. Napoleon balanced the budget in 1802, the first time it had been balanced in over seventy years, and Hitler managed to balance Germany's budget by 1938. Both men ended unemployment in their countries with nationwide projects, ho...
Politics. Politics control this world, and sometimes for the worst. Politicians can be deceiving, and lie right to you, with no signs of remorse. They can be the worst type of human being, manipulating you for their own cause. They can be evil. In America, the next presidential election is approaching, and we have many of these politicians trying to become our next president. Although there are many, I 'm going to concentrate on one. Donald Trump. He is a corrupt politician, and a cancer to our society. This man is so malevolent, he is drawing comparisons to one of the most barbarous men of all time, Adolf Hitler. These men are eerily similar, and I am uneasy knowing that someone that could be our next president is showing similarities to a mass murderer. These are not erroneous claims. Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler are similar because of their rhetorical abilities, hating of
Similarities of the two was that they both wanted freedom for their people but its believed that napoleons main goal was to
Napoleon Bonaparte ruled in France from 1789 to 1815. Napoleon came to power in 1789 and immediately became a powerful figure in the French government. However, some thought Napoleon was such a great leader. The Napoleonic Empire started to grow France’s territories. Some might have believed that Napoleon was too eager with his rule, while losing and failing to succeed against the power of England, in an attempt to blockade their trade, and of Russia, where he led his army to a defeat and retreat back to France. Even in his success over Spain, the battle still costed Napoleon and his army in men and resources. Napoleon was mostly viewed as a powerful and militaristic leader in some aspects, but others saw him as a coward and terrible leader in other ways.
This investigation will address the research question, to what extent was Germany’s post-World War I economic depression a causal factor in Hitler’s rise to power from 1919 to 1934? With the Treaty of Versailles, the German government was required to pay 132 billion gold marks of war reparations, drastically worsened with the US Wall Street crash. This effectively crippled the German economy and created a desperate people. For this investigation, Hitler’s private life history and pre-military career will not be analyzed. His political rise will be examined from the perspective of economic and social factors. Several primary sources will be explored, including the Hitler’s Mein Kampf and Hitler’s 25-Point Program. In addition, tertiary sources covering Hitler’s non-personal life and rise to power will be studied.
The conditions in Germany when Hitler came into power were that the Wiemar Republic was weak, they had a democracy and after president Heindenburg died the democracy was even weaker. There was hardly any money, before the Great Depression began. Aldof Hitler promised a better life for everyone in Germany, and with his persuasive speech managed to get what he wanted, power. The treaty of Versailles blamed Germany for the First World War. The Weimar politicians did not seem to have an end to the ongoing crisis so they gave Hitler a spot in politics, his speech soon enough brought him up the hierarchy and lead to his success. The support for the Nazi party was rising every day before the Communists, the Great Depression did much of Hitler’s
Hitler seemed to want what he wanted. Hindenburg agreed and Hitler became chancellor. The government they headed was a coalition. There were twelve ministers altogether and only three were Nazis. Von Papen and Hindenburg thought that Hitler could be controlled and drowned out by non-Nazis, but they were wrong.
According to Oppenheimer, Adolf Hitler idolized Mussolini’s rise and respected his tactics to gain power. Hitler was a violent leader who brought
Both men are known for the change in history, and their change in the views of political parties. Mussolini came into power in 1922 and sought to make Fascism the only party in Italy, because he believed it was superior to all other parties. Both Mussolini and Hitler wanted to create a better economy for their countries, and had big plans to change the way their countries viewed things. Mussolini abolished democracy, and would not listen and shun any ideas or citizens who opposed his political views. Although the men were quite similar in the ways they set goals for their countries, Hitler was extreme in his plans for future Germany.
Support for the Nazi party was due to the growing belief that it was a
Adolf Hitler was a tyrant leader in Germany. He was the head of the Nazi party and his aggressive foreign policy is considered to be a large factor attributing to World War II. The great depression in Germany created opportunity for Hitler. Germany was suffering and the people were willing to entertain any different options to make life better (Wikipedia ). Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany, giving him power over the legislative and executive branches of the government. This power was the beginning of his empire. The other existing parties at the time were intimidated and disbanded giving Hitler the power he was craving (Wikipedia ).
Perhaps the most obvious similarity would be the path they took to power. In parliament Hitler and Mussolini gathered small groups of followers they would use to bully voters, Hitler’s SS and SA and Mussolini’s Brown Shirts. The point of these behind these parties was that they both expressed what voters wanted to hear. They spoke of greater job opportunities and rejuvenation of their countries. Hitler and Mussolini used violent propaganda to increase social struggle everywhere in their countries. The polarization of the society produced by this violent behavior benefited the fascist parties. Both leaders used their political strength to impose conditions on their people. Both Hitler and Mussolini were finally given the opportunity to form a government and carried out their election promises. Their ruling of power came about to be so similar because of their similar roads to power.
Several factors contributed to the instability of Germany’s Weimar Republic, such as the new political ideals brought forward and the government’s hunger for war. This could be compared to the many different governments created and dismissed in France’s Revolution towards the end of the 18th century. The new excitement from overthrowing the monarchy and the different opinions about how to run the new government made it very unstable, which is why France jumped from a monarchy to the National Assembly to the Legislative Assembly, and so

Napoleon Bonaparte was an interesting ruler in that he was compromised of attributes of both a tyrant and a hero. Napoleon had a strong following throughout his reign and even during his two exiles. He was the emperor of France between 1799 and 1815, following the fall of the Directory. Despite the efforts of the French Revolution to rid the country of an autocratic ruler, Bonaparte came to power as Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte I in 1804. He claimed that he preserved the goals of the Revolution, which can be easily argued as his rule became more dictatorial as it progressed. Despite his departure from some of the gains of the Revolution, he overall was a hero for the French people. Through his military ventures, political changes and social reform, Napoleon proved himself as a hero. This is not to say that there were aspects of his reign that were tyrannical, but he was overall beneficial for France.
Secondly, the Nazi Party rose to Power. “Adolf Hitler was born in Austria, in 1889. When he was 18, he went to Vienna, then the capital of the multinational Hapsburg Empire” (Ester, 2010). When Hitler was living in Vienna he grew an anti-Semistic mindset. In other words, he became extremely prejudice towards Jews. This later played a large role in his rise to power. Hitler made a failed attempt to gain control of Munich in 1923. “He was arrested and found guilty of treason. W...
