Another Greek myth that can be compared to the movie Iron Man is the myth of Hercules, these two stories can be compared using a motifs of the Iron Man armour, and the physical appearance of Hercules. The most common motif that appears in the movie Iron Man is the armoured suit. It is the most common thing you see in almost every scene. Although the suit may change in appearance throughout the movie it is almost always visible and present in the movie itself, it is also very vibrant, and outstanding with a gold, and bronze paint job all this together makes the Iron Man armour the best example of a motif from the movie Iron Man. In the Greek myth Hercules who is the son of Zeus, a motif that is similar, and present in this story is the physical appearance of Hercules himself. The two motifs can be compared, because in Iron Man the most predominant Motif is his armoured suit that he creates, and wears for most of the movie, and in Hercules one of the most predominant motifs is Hercules physical appearance, and the reason they are similar is because they both represent these characters very
well. The iron man suit represents Iron Man as being a powerful hero in the film. In Hercules story this is also similar his physical appearance shows his strength as being a great Greek hero. Therefor the film Iron Man can be compared to the Greek Myth of Hercules through the motifs of the Iron Man armour, and Hercules physical appearance.
One of the main similarities in ancient Greek epics is that there are always great heroes who overcome many difficult and daunting challenges and goes on long adventures. The issue of heroic stature and the character of the hero have a great importance on the epics itself. Classical Greek heroes are usually born to do great things, go on epic journeys and in the end they would receive a reward for their troubles.
To conclude, both sculptures do not have much in common, but it is obvious that the artists had knowledge in human anatomy and was able to sculpt them spectacularly. It is also obvious the break from somewhat idealistic to realistic human nature. The change is so drastic that one might not believe that both sculptures come from the same Greece because it is so well-known for its astonishing artworks found in temples, building, etc.
These two films come from entirely different genres, have entirely different plots, and are even based in entirely different galaxies, but the share the theme of the hero’s journey. This concept can be equally applied to nearly every book, movie, and other such works, as long as you dig under the surface and find the meaning beneath. The elements of the hero’s journey are found in both films, and with a critical eye, can be found all around us. This is the classic story of the hero; in every shape and form an author can apply it too.
They’re a few similarities and differences between the myth, and the movie Jason and the Argonauts. Some similarities would include Jason wanting to find the golden fleece, him navigating through the rocks, his ship names stays “Argo” in both the myth and the movie. Hera only helps him five times in both the movie and myth. Some differences would be, Jason and his men in the story fought and killed Harpies, but in the movie they just put them into the prison. The clashing rocks scene, In the movie they called magic rocks “Clashing Rocks”, but in the story they called them “Clashing Cliffs” In the story the teeth turned to warriors, but in the movie the teeth turned into the skeletons. And the relationship of Medea and Jason. Medea has the most differences.

In the Iliad and the Aeneid, the shields of heroes—Achilles and Aeneas—are described both similarly and differently. There are many similarities in their shields: both having received the shields from their goddess mothers. Both shields were made by Hephaestus/Vulcan. The shields were also described in depth, making the shields seem comparable. However, they differed in the images on the shields. Thus, my study will seek to compare mythological hero's during their time to how they have been depicted in modern day. Moreover, my study will analyze the similarities and differences between the Greek hero Heracles and his replica character, Hercules, depicted in Disney's adaptation of this myth. Although there are few similarities between the two versions, the differences between Heracles and Disney's Hercules are prominent. These differences help modern day audiences relate more easily to the characters in the story. Furthermore, the alterations have enabled a new aspect of heroism to emerge since Disney tailors it's movies towards youth who can seek valuable lessons from animated movies. Disney's choices through these alterations will be determined by focusing on the main plot, characters presented in the movie, peripheral details, and the notion of being a "true hero" that Disney presents.
Jason and Odysseus have much in common and just as much not. A main difference one sees at first glance is the type of hero that they are. Odysseus is a wily and crafty whereas Jason is a leader but uses the skills of his followers to achieve his means. At first glance, Jason appeared an unlikely hero. Unlike Odysseus, who embarked on what should have been a short journey home following the Trojan War, but which became an epic journey with many obstacles and delays along the way.
Odysseus and Aeneas are very alike in some ways and very different. They are both epic heroes except that one is Greek and the other is a Trojan. Odysseus is from the Greek tale The Oddessy, which was written by the famous Greek poet Homer. His quest is to find his way back home after a long journey. Aeneas is from the roman tale The Aenied, written by Virgil a famous Roman poet. Aeneas’s mission is to find a new home for him and his family. Both these characters had many similarities and differences in their ways of fighting.
The first comparisons between mythology and the Disney film are ones pertaining to the nature of Hercules character. Next, we should look at the brilliantly and elaborately detailed armor of Ares. The shield’s handle, the rivets along its edge and the circular decoration around the inside of the shield are meticulously done. Additionally, the shadow created with the change in hue, saturation, and value on the inside of the shield help create the depth and curvature of the shield. The body armor also implements a well-crafted mixture of shadows and smooth curved lines as well as color change to create depth. Had this not been so craftily accomplished, the shield would have taken on a flat and dull appearance. This is true for the lion head on the shoulder of Ares , which is able to convey the concept of layered gold on top of iron without using the layering of paint to create the three dimensional character. The more time I spent viewing the particular parts of the armor, the more admiration I had for Batoni as an artist. The helmet, with the golden dragon atop and ram around the lower front are also finely detailed.
Often, epic heroes can be characterized the same way. They are portrayed as superhuman beings, possessing strength, physical beauty, and intelligence. These heroes aspired to live by a heroic code that would ensure immortality by keeping their memory alive in the people. Homer's The Iliad shows how the heroic code was ingrained in ancient Greek warriors. In many cases, the Greeks put this code of honor above their own lives.
Hercules the great hero and the son of the great god Zeus, was the most famous of all the Greek mythological heroes. Hercules was known for his strength, bravery, and adventuresome personality. Hercules like most heroes had a god as their father, and he had a mortal mother named Alcmene. Hercules like most heroes was not an ordinary mortal and a good example was his superhuman strength.
As we all know, Hollywood isn’t exactly accurate when it comes to the historical accuracy of movies. Although the Iliad is a myth, the movie Troy doesn’t follow the story quite as accurately as it could have. One major difference is the concept of time. In the Iliad, the battle spanned over a ten year period while in the movie, the battle only lasted about 17 days. However, it does have many similarities to the poem. Both the movie and the poem have similar plots as well as the feud of Achilles and Agamemnon, fall of Troy, the death of Patroclus, Achilles avenging the death of Patroclus and the supplication of Priam to Achilles. Other similarities include Thetis telling Achilles that if he is to stay home and refrain from fighting he will be forgotten. However, if he is to fight in the battle of Troy, he will be remembered forever. Another similarity can be found when Agamemnon confiscates Briseis from Achilles. There are many details in the movie that deviate from the epic poem as well. Some differences between the movie and the poem include the deaths of Agamemnon and Menelaus, the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus, the portrayal of some of the characters and the role of the Gods in the plot. Also, according to the film, the capture of Troy seems to be the subject of the entire movie whereas in the epic poem, the subject is the wrath of Achilles. Also, the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus is a little different. In the movie, Achilles and Patroclus are cousins and Patroclus is younger than Achilles. In the Iliad, Achilles and Patroclus are best friends. Patroclus is older than Achilles and acts as the advisor for Achilles.
