Music is a major part of everybody's life. People from all around the world listen to music as a way to express themselves. Music is a significant part of my life, as I have grown up listening to it and I’ve always enjoyed it. Music can help people express themselves in ways words can't. For instance, “Ribs” by Lorde, “Maragret” by Lana Del Rey and “Vienna” by Billy Joel are all very special songs to me that I could not go without. For my personal soundtrack, these three songs would need to be included. The song “Ribs”, is an extremely nostalgic song, capturing both sorrow and joy throughout the lyrics. I chose this song for my soundtrack because, no matter the time of year, I am constantly being filled and consumed with utter nostalgia. “I’ve never felt more alone, it feels so scary getting old.” (Lorde) Lorde’s song is so much more than just the fear of getting old, she also mentions the memories she has__ of her and her childhood friends. Back when they were younger, living in simpler times. I relate to this aspect of the song as well, as I reminisce about the kids I grew up with and all the joyful memories we got to cherish together. On the other hand, the song “Margaret” by Lana Del Rey will always hold a special place in my heart. Whenever something in my life doesn’t happen the way I want it to, I just remind myself of these lyrics. “So if you don't know, don't give up, 'cause you never know what the new day might bring. Maybe tomorrow, you'll know.” (Lana Del Rey) This lyric speaks to me, it reminds me that if something doesn’t last long, it was never meant to stay.
