Comparing Beowulf, Gilgamesh, And Arthur

Beowulf, Gilgamesh, and Arthur are all similar because they all show human characteristics. They also all show bravery. Arthur pulled the sword from the stone. Gilgamesh beat Humbaba, and Beowulf fought Grendel. A second reason they are all similar is because, they are all powerful. They defeated their enemies with the strength they had in their bodies. A third reason they are all similar is because they all had a long voyage. Beowulf traveled to Heorot to help destroy Grendel. Gilgamesh traveled to the other side of the world to ask for immorality. Arthur went to different places to meet different people.

The first reason they are all different because King Arthur is the king, and not to many people like him. He is very conceited and all

to himself. Beowulf, and Gilgamesh are friendly to everyone, and everyone likes them. A second reason they are all different is Beowulf killed two creatures, Grendel, and Grendel’s mom. Gilgamesh only killed one creature, Humbaba. King Arthur killed only his son, while fighting.
The human characteristic that Gilgamesh used was leadership because Gilgamesh was a leader.

He was the King of Uruk, and he also is the person who wants to fight Humbaba. He ends up killing Humbaba with the help of Shamash. Gilgamesh also was a leader because he lead himself across to the other side of the world to gain immortality.The human characteristic that Beowulf used was loyalty. Beowulf defeats Grendel and Grendel’s mother by himself with no weapons. He used his strength he had in his body. Also, he was loyal to King Hrothgar because he helped Hrothgar by getting rid of Grendel. The human characteristic that Arthur showed was unique. He took on a different face in every work. He was always going to war with his enemies, and challenged himself to beat whoever got in his way. Arthur was also unique because he was the King of Uruk. He was a very important

man.
It is important to see the progression in humans because humans need to have progress in their life, or things would fail. For example, Beowulf and Gilgamesh progressed on their fighting in order to kill Grendel, and Humbaba. Without the progression of trying, they wouldn’t have succeeded, and would have failed. Instead they kept trying and were able to accomplish their goal.
Everyone has a different characteristic that they hold. Every human is different and that is what makes a person unique. Beowulf, Gilgamesh, and Arthur all hold special characteristics that make them show the importance of being human.
Frankenstein, Jekyll, and Othello are are all similar in some way.

Frankenstein, and Othello are the same because Othello was mistreated because he was black. He was hated due to his appearance. He was a minority, and faced racism on a daily basis. The monster in Frankenstein was mistreated because he was ugly. He was bullied so bad because of his appearance. This caused the monster to be evil and do devilish acts. Both the monster in Frankenstein and Othello had good intentions. They were not treated properly which made them become bad people. Iago treated Othello horribly by using racial slurs toward him. Jekyll and Hyde were similar to Frankenstein because Jekyll and Hyde had two personalities just like the monster did. One side of Jekyll and Hyde was evil, and the other was good. The monster in Frankenstein was the same because he started out as a good monster, and had good intentions. He was treated so horribly by people because of the way he looked, that he turned

evil.
Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde were different because the monster in Frankenstein had two different personalities, and in the story Jekyll and Hyde they were the same person. The monster in the story Frankenstein could either be evil or good, but there was only one person. Jekyll and Hyde were two different people which made one of them good and one of them evil.
What can be taught from the stories as a whole is to treat everyone with respect. “A person is a person not matter how small.” Everyone is different, and there is nothing wrong with that. People should not be treated differently because of their appearance. Each person is unique and should not be discriminated for being unique.
“What does it mean to be human? Throughout this paper there were many things that stood out for what it meant to be human. Like stated before, humans make mistakes, because not one person is perfect. Jealous, discriminatory, racist, unkind, nice, funny are just a few words to describe a human. No one human is the exact same. Every human being is unique in their own way. Unfortunately, this world discriminates for a human being “different.” It’s ok for humans to be their own person. They should not be treated differently because of their appearance.
