People ruin the world by pollution. In the two texts, 'A Toxic Love Story' and 'A Dirge'. It talks about the world and pollution. In 'A Toxic Love Story' thus women pick's up trash and other materials. She makes art out of recycled trash and material's. The art shows how bad the people are ruining the world. Although, in 'A Dirge' they lack different morals. This is a poem unlike the other one. But 'A Dirge' is a poem talking how the world is crying and the tears are tears of vain. Also that the wind is moaning, and too full of grief to sing a song. The women that is walking down the beach recycling the trash making art is a good citizen. She is trying to make people see the wrong. Therefore in the short poem it relates to the
earth being in pain and grief. In conclusion, there should not be polluting in the world. In both of these texts there talking about the world. One is about it crying and in grief. The other is about a good citizen cleaning up the pollution.
Both poems are set in the past, and both fathers are manual labourers, which the poets admired as a child. Both poems indicate intense change in their fathers lives, that affected the poet in a drastic way. Role reversal between father and son is evident, and a change of emotion is present. These are some of the re-occurring themes in both poems. Both poems in effect deal with the loss of a loved one; whether it be physically or mentally.
Although both poems are set in the same environment, and that the visual structure of the poems are similar. Once you look deeper and analysis the poems it becomes clear that they have been written in very different styles, and very different but as powerful emotions running through them i.e. grief and resignment. One poet has a future to look forward to; the other knows that death is around the corner. One poet could not have for scene a death, the other is questioning weather the ‘black diamond dust’ was worth it on reflection.

In "A Toxic Love Story" by Susan(the author) has a more hopeful tone. The tone shows along the paragraphs, in the text it shows that if people become aware of the dangers the trash is doing, that maybe they can help and try to put a stop to it. However the tone in "A Dirge" is a little stronger than the other text. The author is extremely upset and hurt, so much that he personifies the world and how the world is "wailing" and how "Knells play all night long" because of the pain the world is in. Plastic: A Toxic Love Story takes place at a very popular beach while "A Dirge" doesn't have an exact setting, but the author portrays how sad the world really is by saying a "sad storm whose tears are vain" where her poem takes place. In the poem "A Dirge" the writer refers to his setting as the whole entire world not just one specific place, and although Friekel has an exact setting, one that is "a magnet for ocean-borne plastic debris," she also looks at the world as a whole. Both authors share a sadness a remorse for the way their similar setting is impacted by humans.
Both poems inspire their reader to look at their own life. In addition, they treat the reader to a full serving of historic literature that not only entertains, but also teaches valuable lesson in the form of morals and principles.
