The ever evolving meaning of class in todays’ society is loaded with many adverse senses and invites moral disapproval, also known as ‘exploitation’, where profit is extracted from resources which ultimately reinforces the ongoing inequality among the minority of Australians. This is evident in both Marx and Wrights theories as they are equally carried out in diverse ways. Analytical Marxism approaches the issue of class by focusing on the scientific explanation, whereas, Wrights theory of class values pragmatic research and is open to having his ideas and concepts modified , unlike Marx. In the Marxist theory, he reflects how our physical and emotional life can be affected by our feelings towards work and expenses . He similarly states that
‘exploitation’ is the key to understanding the structure of classes. Also, while acknowledging that there are middle layers, like the petit bourgeoisie, between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, it seeks to intricate a strategy of eliminating their influence on labour movement politics, while at the same time attracting their support. As Wright (1997) puts it, “I have worried endlessly about the optimal way of conceptualizing the ‘middle class’ which would both be coherent empirically powerful” (p. xxviii). However, Wright doesn’t accept everything Marx says. Wrights work reconstructs classical Marxism to modern-day economics and believes the focus should be on the macro-level and how class affects various other aspects of social life instead of structural processes that are carried out at a micro-level. To achieve this Wright arranged his 12 classes according to Marx’s original idea of exploitation and domination. He recognises that some employees such as managers and workers with rare skills and knowledge, can command wages that surpass the product of their labour . This is a clear example of exploitation within classes, which reinforces the myth of ongoing inequality while making the power of the minority invisible within Australia.

In his essay “Land of Opportunity” James W. Loewen details the ignorance that most American students have towards class structure. He bemoans the fact that most textbooks completely ignore the issue of class, and when it does it is usually only mentions middle class in order to make the point that America is a “middle class country. This is particularly grievous to Loewen because he believes, “Social class is probably the single most important variable in society. From womb to tomb, it correlates with almost all other social characteristics of people that we can measure.” Loewen simply believes that social class usually determine the paths that a person will take in life. (Loewen 203)
Class is a key idea related to inequality, prejudice and discrimination in Australian society. It has been considered out of fashion, because some Australian people think that there is no class difference between people in Australia, everyone enjoys equality in society. In fact, the recent de-regulation of the workplace, and the widening gap in access to hospitals, schools and employment opportunities between the rich and poor, have made class more visible in Australian than ever before. Class is "a category of people who have generally similar educational histories, job opportunities, and social standing and who are conscious of their membership in a social group that is ranked in relation to others and is replicated over generations" (Kent, 1998:87). This essay argues that class cause continues to inequality in Australian society. Firstly, class structures labor market inequality. Secondly, class shapes the quality of a person's life. Thirdly, class inequality produces continuing class differences into the next generation. Finally, class has becoming a debate in Australian society, because class inequality encourages the `right' people to work more efficiently in the workforce and helps people to identify themselves in society, but continuing relevance of the concept of class is a matter in contemporary Australia.
In the autobiography Black Boy by Richard Wright, Wright’s defining aspect is his hunger for equality between whites and blacks in the Jim Crow South. Wright recounts his life from a young boy in the repugnant south to an adult in the north. In the book, Wright’s interpretation of hunger goes beyond the literal denotation. Thus, Wright possesses an insatiable hunger for knowledge, acceptance, and understanding. Wright’s encounters with racial discrimination exhibit the depths of misunderstanding fostered by an imbalance of power.
Year’s ago, mention of this widening gap between the privileged and the struggling was considered “Marxist”, but now the facts are too evident to be blamed on a belief. Richard Wright wanted to make a difference in the world and a difference he did make. Richard Wright was an important figure in American History because he stood astride the midsection of his time period as a battering ram, paving the way for many black writers who followed him, these writers were Ralph Ellison, Chester Himes, James Baldwin, Gwendolyn Brooks, Lorraine Hansberry, John Williams. In some ways he helped change the American society.
Richard Wright has been referred to me for therapy regarding his theft from the local theater, and I believe that he committed this crime because he believes that because of his station in society he would never be able to support himself and his family through honest means. Despite the fact that he does hold some remorse for his actions, it would appear that whatever remorse he holds is tempered by his justifications for stealing. A thorough analysis of his reasoning has been conducted and with testimony from the patient to serve as my proof, I will begin treatment to show him the error of his ways.
Poet, journalist, essayist, and novelist Richard Wright developed from an uneducated Southerner to one of the most cosmopolitan, politically active writers in American literature. In many of Richard Wright's works, he exemplifies his own life and proves to “white” America that African American literature should be taken seriously. Before Wright, “white” America failed to acknowledge the role African American writing played in shaping American culture. It was shocking in itself that an African American could write at all. Thus, Richard Wright is well known as the father of African American literature mainly because of his ability to challenge the literary stereotypes given to African Americans.

Many people tend to disagree with Marx that capitalism is the only important factor in the outgrowth of the middle class. Judith R. Blau argues that her understanding of the middle class has much to do with inclusive cultural values. Blau demonstrates her opinion though her ethnography, Social Contract and Economic Markets. I believe that Karl Marx’s economic factors and Judith Blau’s cultural factors together define the middle class.
The class has looked at the six classes that Warner, Gilbert-Khal have all come up with but also looked at stratification through gender, and race which adds to Marx’s theory. The basic idea is that there has always been social stratification and that it influences life in many different ways, which is a big part of society today. Examples from Americans history justifies Marx’s idea. The Civil War is an easy example of stratification and segregation that has led to war and movements. Slaves were treated as property and were on the lower part of the stratification ladder. This lead to the Civil War, but stratification within the African American was still very big and it still can be seen today with some of the policies that happened before the Civil Rights movement. Though Marx’s theories were first conceived over 150 years ago, his work continues to be tremendously influential and is perhaps the most well known scholarship within the sociological canon. Despite their prominence, some of Marx’s most famous ideas have yet to be proven by the course of history. Neo-Marxists may insist that the revolution is coming, but the fact remains that the overthrow of capitalism has yet to materialize. I argue that the communist revolution has not yet occurred because the proletariat has been unable to develop the universal class consciousness that Marx asserts is a necessary condition for his predicted mass uprising. Additionally, I postulate that the theories of Weber and Simmel reveal the factors impeding the formation of class consciousness among members of the proletariat.
