Snowball and Leon were thought of as the same but they are different is some ways. Compared to one another Snowball and Leon were handled differently along with the roles they began with, their effects on the society, yet they were the same in their intelligence, and the leader they had was completely faulty against them. First, Leon and Snowball began very differently. In Animal Farm snowball was mistreated by his owner Mr. Jones. While Leon grew up in a flourishing Jewish household. Trotsky had freedom, food, and happiness when he was growing up although that wasn’t the whole story. He chose the route he wanted to take, “Trotsky became involved in underground activities as a teenager. He was soon arrested jailed, and exiled to Siberia.” …show more content…
After the rebellion on Animal Farm and the increasing need for one leader Snowball developed a plan to help with his debate. Snowball wanted to help his society grow and get better. So Snowball created the windmill plan for animal farm to bring electricity, and a much needed harvesting help. On Leon’s side of the society he worked on peace as mentioned above along with the rules that were made for the rest of the society and Leon to follow. Snowball created the seven commandments for the animals to follow, he didn’t have to follow these rules indefinitely just look like your following them. Leon was not incorporated in making the rules, he was just called to abide by them instead. That being one of the things that separates snowball and Leon from each other. Leon’s influence to the society also was when he “built up the Red Army which prevailed against the White Russian forces in the Civil War. “ (Leon Trotsky, 1) which was different from the rebellion Snowball faced because of the forces of everyone on the farm doing what they needed to prevail through no one’s …show more content…
Leon and Snowball were both disliked by their opponents or leaders that they had above them, and beside. The leaders didn’t only dislike them but exiled them. Snowball’s exile was terrible misfortune and near death. It started when “nine enormous dogs wearing brass – studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws” (Orwell, 57) which sent him to the outskirts of the farm and not seen from again. While Trotsky on the other hand decided to jump into leadership when there was no one else. When “Lenin fell ill and died, Trotsky was easily outmaneuvered by Stalin. In 1927, he was thrown out of the party.” (Leon Trotsky, 1) Where interior and formerly external banishment tailed. Before they were banished though they did have some advantages to staying in the party. They both had high intelligence and arrogance. The writing ability of Snowball for the commandments and in general was a great thing for the farm. While Trotsky’s intelligence allowed for a “decisive role in the communist take – over of power. “ (Leon Trotsky, 1) and a following arrogance that made it hard for him to make friends, let alone keep them. In conclusion, Leon and Snowball varied in the beginning and the cause and encouragement in the society that they influenced. They still both had some of the strengths
Therefore, the characters have similar and distinct traits. Lina and Elie, Ona and Mrs. Schächter, and Elena and Shlomo are the most analogous, although they have certain differences. Lina and Elie are alike by being benevolent and defending their families. On the same note, Ona and Mrs. Schächter are alike by how they react to the harsh events of the Holocaust. Lastly, Elena and Shlomo are alike by being strong in a time of crisis. These novels share many features, but also are dissimilar in several
Compare two characters – one from each work – who are similar in temperament or who seem to be in analogous situations.
They are both brave, courageous, and determined which is a very significant and important thing to have in life. They have both gone through many experiences and accomplished a lot of things. The last thing the have in common is the fact that they pursued their passion for what they love to do. However, their work fields are different from one another and their education for their job is different. Also the amount of danger differs between their work. Overall, along with their differences, Steven Kutcher and Carsten Peter both brave, courageous, and
...ectively work with him. But he was an industrious worker and a talented person, and for Lenin, that was the main thing’ . Trotsky, despite his nuances and arrogance, was hugely significant in the short term through his brilliant tactics throughout the October Revolution where the Bolsheviks took control of Russia. Furthermore his coordination of the Red Army was definitive in Bolshevik victory in the civil war, removal of opposition in the terror, and he played an under appreciated role in reclaiming of occupied Russian lands following the world war. Trotsky’s final years in the Bolsheviks also saw him have a huge impact on the direction the communist party in Russia would take. So, in the short term, Leon Trotsky was undoubtedly significant, as he helped the Bolshevik’s propagate power and ultimately left them in a strong position, albeit on a changing course.
At first sight, the two main characters appear completely different, but we soon realize that their lives are very linked.
There are several themes in Animal Farm, some including: Leadership and corruption, control of naïve working class, lies and deception, and dreams and hopes. The main themes in Animal Farm leadership and corruption. Animal Farm portrays the history of the Russian Revolution by retelling the development of communism. In the novel, by overthrowing Mr. Jones, the animals give the power to the pigs who take complete control of the farm. The struggle for superiority between Leon Trotsky, a Russian revolutionary, and Stalin, a Soviet statesman, is portrayed by the rivalry between the pigs, Napoleon and Snowball. In both cases, the less powerful one, Trotsky and Snowball, is eliminated by the more superior one, Stalin and Napoleon. Stalin's rule and abandonment of the founding principles of the Russian Revolution are portrayed when the pigs adopt human traits and behaviors, which they originally tried to escape. “Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from ...
Snowball was the leader in the battle and planned the animal's strategies and fought with them.
Animal Farm portrays many facets of the Communist revolution in Russia; however the book and the movie are both set on a farm in England in the 1950‘s. The book starts with Old Major, the founder of animalism, explaining how the animal rebellion would be coming soon and everyone should be preparing for the revolution. According to the book he died of old age but in the movie he was hit by a bullet from Mr. Jones’s shotgun causing Old Major to fall out of the hay loft and break his neck. Later Napoleon and Snowball come to prepare the animals for the coming revolution. Jones was a drunk and his workers did not always feed the animals regularly so one night Jones to the men out for drinks and they did not return for three days, and when he did return he still did not feed the animals. The animals took it upon themselves to break into the food storage and feed themselves and they were happy until Jones heard the noise they were making and went in there to see what was going on and when he tried to stop them they all attack him at once and chased him and his men of the property and then it was all theirs. Snowball started right away showing them the ways of animalism and stating that they were rules to live by. Snowball wrote The Seven Commandments of Animalism which are as follows: whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy, whatever goes upon four legs or has wings is a friend, no animal shall wear clothes, no animal shal...
Snowball and Napoleon held a great deal of contrast between the way they each ruled over “Animal Farm/Manor Farm.” The only thing he did lack, was the ability of pursuasion to the other animals. Snowball had all the right ideas, all to better the whole farm. Napoleon, on the other hand, had a knack for stealing other animals’ ideas, then telling the rest it was his and getting credit for it. His ideas only seemed to benefit the pigs and not the animals. It was this, that led to the crumbling of the farm. Napoleons obsession with becoming the ruler is what got Snowball nearly killed by the dogs...in a plot made by Napoleon. Which then produced a whole new rebellion not of the animals to the humans, but of the animals to the pigs. So for these reasons, Snowball showed better qualities for leadership than Napoleon because he wasn’t selfish and thought about the future of “Animal Farm.” First, the dominated farm animals viewed Napoleon and Snowball differently at different times throughout the book. The way the animals reacted to each leader brought upon new problems of the farm. The animals respected Snowball, and believed that his teachings were all true and had a good cause. Although Snowball and Napoleon had superior qualities leadership, it was clearly Snowball who had the better qualities for running a farm. Under Snowballs’ rule, the animals were generally content with what was going on and were all for it if it was to better the farm. It was obvious that Napoleon had the better half of getting his own way on the farm. However, the animals had some problems with Napoleon but they didn’t know haw to express their feelings and show him that they didn’t like the way he ran things. It was the animals’ ignorance that helped keep Napoleon in rule for as long as it was. The responses were so different between the animals that it must have been a drastic change between Snowball and Napoleon.
George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” is a political allegory based off the Russian Revolution of 1917, where the author explores the cruel dictatorship of Napoleon, and his comrade Snowballs views on Animalism. The value that both Snowball, and Napoleon share is mainly the factor of pig’s superiority, however, there are attributes they both contrast in; Snowballs goal to create egalitarian communism while Napoleon is in favor of gaining power over the animals.
Snowball the mirror image of Leon Trotsky, in all except appearance is the most promising leader of Animal Farm. Like Trotsky, Snowball is a kind ruler who is best interested in the prosperity and happiness of his ?comrades?. Snowball brought literacy and equality to Animal Farm through his teachings, and the writing of the Seven Commandments. Another way in which Snowball is similar to Trotsky is his role in the Battle of the Cowshed, where he organized the farms defenses and was the key to victory. Much like when Leon Trotsky organized the Red Army. Both Snowball and Trotsky were excellent public speakers and could win a crowds favor easily. ?Snowball was a more vivacious pig than Napoleon, quicker in speech and more inventive, but was not considered to have the same ...
To start off the analysis of the two characters, I’d like to begin with how these epic heroes are similar.
Snowball, Animal Farm's first and foremost leader, is and always should be well respected. He bravely fought at the battle of Cowshed, the first conflict between man and animal. He took wounds, he took control, and he spoke for the well being of the Animals. He conceived the great windmill that would supply the Animal Farm with electric power. All this for the prosperity of his fellow animal… until Napoleon stepped in.
Snowball is a “vivacious pig… quicker in speech and more inventive, but was not considered to have the same depth of character” (Orwell, 13). Snowball is a brilliant speaker who “won over the majority by his brilliant speeches” (43). Snowball is lively and friendly, and truly believes that all animals are equal. He believes in Animalism, where all animals shared equal labor and the fruits of their labor. He believes in the seven commandments and later creates committees for animals to learn in. Snowball has the idea of building a windmill that “so much labour would be saved that the animals would only need to work three days a week” (46). Snowball is the visionary of Old Major’s beliefs, and striving to make the farm a better place for the animals. Snowball acknowledges that power can be a corrupting influence, b...
...ferences of the two servants, Ariel can be seen more like a positive character and unlike him Caliban can be seen more like a negative character. Because of these reasons, it can be thought that Ariel is a loved character but Caliban is an unliked character. But this is only one point of view. Others may love Caliban more than Ariel because they can find some of the same characteristics that they also have such as rebelling or complaining about things so in other words some people may find things from themselves in that character. People also may not like Ariel because they can think that his attitude towards Prospero is fake and he is only trying to be king to be free. So, the characteristics of the two servants and the differences between them may change people’s point of views and thoughts about the characters which can be both in a positive or a negative way.
