Romeo and Juliet is a play about two foolish, naive teenagers who lack wisdom. The play shows how dangerous love is and how two individuals can be so in love with each other that they are willing to do anything. This statement is agreeable but was it even love? The two young teenagers have only just met and do not know each other but their names so how could that be love and if it was love, it has turned them into selfish adolescents and has led both of them to suicide Some could say that the famous play written by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet was a successful play because of the main character’s love for each other, but was it, love? The play Romeo and Juliet expresses the danger of love because their love brought them to suicide. Heartbreak is one of the common reasons why young people commit suicide, that is why love can be so menacing. Heartbreak can leave teenagers feeling hopeless. In the play, Romeo felt that he could not spend the rest of his life with someone else but Juliet, (even though he has only dated 2 girls). Juliet couldn’t bear it either so they both took their own lives not thinking of their families and friends who cared for them and have known them their whole lives. In act 3 scene 3, Juliet says “I am not I, if there be such an ‘ay’, Or those eyes shut, that makes thee answer ‘ay’. If he be slain, say ‘ay, or if not, ‘no: Brief sounds determine my weal or woe… My body and Romeo’s will lie together in one sad coffin.” Despite the fact they’ve know each other for a short amount of time, Romeo has become Juliet’s world and she has determined her happiness and life on him. This indicates how love can be so destructive and how it can make people ‘love’ a person so much that if that person was gone, they lose their reason to
