Most graduating high school students struggle when deciding what college they want to attend after they graduate high school. Students must decide based on a number of criteria. Some students decide where they want to go to college based on location, while some students make the choice of going to a specific college based on their financial status, and other students focus more on educational opportunities. Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi is a great choice that can please any personality that steps on campus. “Ole Miss” is the school many student’s hope to attend while other’s plan to attend the University of Mississippi. The difference between the University of Mississippi and Ole Miss is well described by Frank E. Everett Jr.
A strong and independent minded man named James H. Meredith applied for acceptance into the University of Mississippi. Meredith "anticipated on encountering some type of difficulty" with his attempt to enter the University of Mississippi, also known as the Ole Miss, but 'difficulty' would not describe his journey. The day after John F. Kennedy was inaugurated in early January of 1961, Meredith requested for application into the Ole Miss. On January 26, the registrar of Ole Miss, Robert B. Ellis, sent him an application along with a letter indicating that the university was "very pleased to know of [Meredith's] interest in becoming a member of our student body" (JFK Library). Meredith applied on January 31, enclosing a letter indicting he was an "American-Mississippi-Negro citizen." On February 4 the registrar sent Meredith a telegram stating that the Ole Miss "found [it] necessary to discontinue consideration of all applications for registration . . . received after January 25, 1961" (JFK Library). Hearing of his status to the Ole Miss, Meredith seemed to have felt angry and annoyed. His application was neither accepted nor rejected, but rather delayed upon hearing that he was a Negro. Meredith immediately wrote to Thurgood Marshall then to the U.S. Justice Department describing his situation. Meredith had been consciously aware since he was fifteen that he was a Negro and "until I was fifteen I did not know that my group was supposed to be the inferior one. Since then I have felt a personal responsibility to change the status of my group" (JFK Library). Meredith applied to the Ole Miss not just to get an education, but he did it for the people of his race. Since realizing that he was supposed to be inf...
IMSA has a great community, which is one of the main reason I am applying. IMSA has great opportunities to forward an interest in the medical and STEM field, which tend to go hand and hand. Not only do I think that the critical thinking and independent research classes will help benefit me and the peers I will work with, I believe that the extracurricular activities at IMSA are what really makes this school stand out. At the school I currently go to, they prioritize sports over most other extracurriculars, with the highest funded club being the debate and speech teams. Even though these clubs are important in building teamwork and leadership abilities, they are very limited in learning about medical and STEM terms. This is why I believe that the clubs at IMSA such as their science olympiad team will help me learn more about the field that I love. By having peers that will constantly challenge me every day, this will make me strive to become better than them and have something to work for.
Why do you want to go to Asmsa? Why leave home for this school? Is it even the right place for you? All of these questions I have heard be asked before, by my parents, my friends, even I ask myself if this is the right choice, but every time I hear it, I have the answer ready. Of course Asmsa is the right place for me, not only is the school I’ve looked forward to going to since the 7th grade, It is the type of school I’ve always needed to put me in the mindset for learning. The school is a community of learners and full of people who want to achieve, to do more than just graduate, to be more than just valedictorian, and to ask the questions that most wouldn't even care about. The staff at Asmsa is also very educated in the fields they teach, so any and all questions you may have they can answer and don’t teach “for the test,” so to

St. Mary is a better fit for me socially. At my old school many of my fellow classmates did not treat people with respect. Not many students seemed to truly care about the well being of their peers. Whereas at St. Mary, it feels like more of a community. We all look out for each other and try to help out one another. At St. Mary we have the Peacekeeper awards. These awards are given to one student from each homeroom every month. The award is

For me personally, the college of my dreams is Louisiana State University. The top three majors at Louisiana State University are Biology, Biomedical engineering, and Business. The main reason I want to go to Louisiana State University is because of their amazing biology department .The main things that caught my attention about Louisiana State University, was how flexible I could be with my money, it isn’t that hard to apply and the admission process is pretty doable, and the campus life is interesting with many clubs and organizations that I could join.

When it comes down to choosing a college or a university to attend, the decision may be hard to make. Students often compare differences and similarities in their college experience between small and big schools when it comes to looking more into the learning environment, housing opportunities, and the entertainment provided.
The amount as well as the variety of courses, the school offers is unparalleled, and gives me an opportunity to be well rounded and very resourceful. Ultimately I am getting the abundance of tools to reach the potential I always knew I had, the type of potential my teachers, and my fellow colleagues have been preaching to me that I had, as if it was some type of banter from a fictional story. I would even go as far to say that when pertaining to personal development and even cognitive function, Rutgers will be beneficial; there is a lot of space and a lot of people with different characteristics and views, I would benefit from interacting with others, that respond to social stimuli in different

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop and look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, '...I can take the next thing that comes along.'...You must do the thing you think you cannot do (Eleanor Roosevelt)." Every time I read these words, I am able to see the truth in them. College to me is the next step that I must take in life. Although this next step comes with much trepidation and apprehension, it is a necessary step that I must take to forever better and prepare myself for the life that I wish to lead. State University would be one of the best institutions for this, just as the choice of high school I made four years ago, Good Counsel, was the next step for me then. During high school, I have grown and changed through not only the education I have gained, but also through the activities I participated in. I have gained a lot of strengths from my time spent in high school. Although every weakness has not been erased, the next step in life will ease their numbers even more.
