Comparing Washington DC and London
Both Washington and London are important cities, they are both capitals of English speaking countries in western societies. The do however have a lot of differences as well, when looking at the history, culture and their residents.

When one looks back on the history of the British settlers in the Americas, there are many differences and similarities between those who settled up north in the New England colonies and those who settled down south. There are also differences in the way the north and south lived their lives, did their jobs, what their economic system was like and how the labor force was set up. Among these many differences there are some similarities as well. Those who left England sought religious and political freedom, as well as governmental and economic stability.
Thomas Jefferson and George Washington are the two most prominent leaders in establishing a stable government after the adoption of the Constitution. After the Revolution, America was unstable but was controlled after policies and regulations were set under the presidency of Washington and Jefferson. During colonial times, European nations quickly colonized the New World years after Columbus’ so called discovery. England in particular sent out a number of groups to the east coast of the New World to two regions. These areas were the New England and the Chesapeake regions. Later in the late 1700s, these two regions would go though many conflicts to come together as one nation. Yet, way before that would occur; these two areas developed into two distinct societies. These differences affected the colonies socially, economically, and politically.
Every colonies in the world have their similarities and differences, but colonies of themselves have main issues such as religion, economies, and labor systems; wealth and status plays a huge role in the colonies’ advancement and success. Virginia and New England colonies were very influential although they went through many struggles with each other to get through where they are now. The similarity between Virginia and New England was mainly ethnicity, but the demographics of the two areas are different.
Jamestown and Plymouth were both very intense colonies. Jamestown had obligations only for financial purposes. Whereas, Plymouth cared for so much more. It had obligations for a variety of religions. In this colony, people were very fond of God. William Bradford once said, “ Nevertheless, to keep a good conscience. and walk in such a way as God has prescribed in his word, is a thing which I must prefer before you all, and above life itself.” Therefore, Plymouth was far more fair and reasonable, because of their interest in God and their opportunities for their religious variety. Both characters had a false view of the American Dream ,they thought having both money and power will solve their problems but in reality, them trying to achieve their goals only made life worse in their case. Also how they view their accomplishments ruin their life, both characters all wanted to be happy. The two groups who showed these differences were the colonists of the New England and Chesapeake Bay areas. The differentiating characteristics among the Chesapeake and New England colonies developed due to economy, religion, and motives for colonial expansion. The colonists of the New England area possessed a very happy and healthy life. This high way of living was due in part to better farming, a healthier environment, and a high rate of production because of more factories. The colonists of the Chesapeake Bay region, on the other hand, led harder lives compared to that of the colonists of New England. The Chesapeake Bay had an unhealthy environment, bad eating diets, and intolerable labor.

In the early stages of North American colonization by the English, the colony of Jamestown, Virginia was founded in 1607 (Mailer Handout 1 (6)). Soon after the Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded in 1629 (Mailer Handout 2 (1)). These two colonies, although close in the time they were founded, have many differences in aspects of their lives and the way they were settled. The colonies have a different religious system, economic system, political system, and they have a different way of doing things; whether that be pertaining to making money, practicing religion, or electing governors. The English Settlement in the New World was largely the result of the Age of Exploration. The English started emigrated to the New World around the early 1600s; they settles in regions including the New England and the Chesapeake region and by the 18th century these two regions had developed their own society. These two regions had developed different political, economic and social system in their regions. The political differences were due to who governs the colony. The economic differences were due to the motives of the settlement. The social differences were due to the people who settled there, while the New England emigrated as a family, the Chesapeake emigrated with mostly male.
When authors write about the same subject, they usually have some similar things that they write in their text. True, some things are going to be different on what they are discussing about. The same is true with the authors who wrote about the topic on the struggle for freedom. When they do that, they usually put it in their own words. Even though each writer has different ideas, they both address the struggle of freedom in their society.
People in Arlington and in other places of the country, walk much slower and give off a very different sense. They are dressed more casually, move slower and give off a story of home and peace. DC is the complete opposite with a fast-pace, sharply dressed environment. The Glorious revolution was a changing point in the course of history. It was the first revolution of its kind which led to many more like the American revolution.
