Springtime. Warm weather, school is ending, kids are getting outside and discovering the world, and one of the biggest rivalries in sports of all time! That’s right, Baseball verses Lacrosse, old verses new, America’s pastime verses the creator’s game! This essay will be comparing Lacrosse and Baseball to decide which sport is the best. The decision will be based on three factors: Athleticism needed to play each sport, reasons for playing each sport, and how fan friendly each sport is. Hope you enjoy!
Athleticism is a very important part of lacrosse, in every position strength, speed, and endurance are vital to compete with the competition. To play baseball, although it is important to be in shape, it is not nearly as important as in lacrosse because the movement in lacrosse never stops. In baseball there is a lot more waiting around, watching instead of being part of the game; in lacrosse, as long as you’re on the field you’re in the game, "Lacrosse is like a soccer/hockey hybrid. Translation - it requires a great deal of athletic ability. There's lots of running, so laxers have to be in great shape. When a baseball player joins a MLB team they are signed on with multimillion dollar contracts and big name brands sponsors. When a lacrosse player is signed on to a MLL team they don't expect millions, they don't expect one million, they don't even expect two hundred thousand a year. Average MLL players are paid between ten and thirty thousand dollars each year, that's not enough to live off of, so these amazing lacrosse players are working other jobs every week then training and practicing also.
