Factory farming and free range farming are practices that occur throughout the word. There are good points and bad points about both types of farming. There are also strong views by many people that support both types. Free Range Farming is good because the animals are healthy which mean we have healthier foods. Free range farming animals are healthy because they have fresh air and they don’t have antibiotic in their body but factory farmed animals does. And also Free Range Farming is good because the animals have happier life than factory farmed animals. If animals have happier life, that’s a good news for animals and for us. Sometimes, Free Range Farming is not that good because the foods are expensive. And also the animals can get
lost and the farmer will be very upset. Sometimes it is dangerous for animals because when the storm comes, they won’t have anyplace to protect them self. And when the weather is freezing, the animals can get cold and they can die earlier. The last reason that free range farming is bad is, in free range farming, the animals are healthy which mean they can live longer and it is good for them but it is bad for us because we will not have enough food to eat. Factory farming is good because the foods are much cheaper than free range farmed foods. And also factory farmed animals are safer than free range animals when storm comes because they live inside. Factory farmed animals die earlier which mean we have more food to eat. When the animals in factory farm is sick, the workers give antibiotic to them to make them healthy but free range farm do not. Sometimes, factory farming is very bad because the workers do bad stuff to animals like smashing them into the ground to kill them and they also cut pig’s tail when the pig is still alive. And factory farmed foods are not that healthy if it’s compared to free range farmed foods because they have antibiotics in their body which is bad because antibiotic is a drug but free range animals do not have antibiotic in their body. And also In factory farming the animals are always unhappy because they are always squashed by the crowd. So sometimes factory farming is very bad. Clearly the whole topic of factory farming and free range farming is controversial. There are strong arguments that state both are good, but also arguments that state both are bad. So what side are you on?
In the movie “American Meat” the writers discussed the difference between commodity farming and sustainable farming. The film does not give a balanced view between the two types of farming. The future of farming is sustainable farming. As seen in the movie, it is possible to sustain all of the American people while practicing sustainable farming methods.

There are many issues regarding the raising and producing of various livestock animals, and the use of pesticides on various types of crops. The movie Food.Inc does a good job explaining these issues, but in a very biased way. It makes agriculturists look like terrible people, when this is not the case.
When it comes to the pros and cons of factory farming, according to a non-profit organization called Farm Sanctuary, the cons definitely outweigh the pros. Food production in the United States today is dominated by factory farms, and their treatment of animals has been downright abusive. The usual farm consists of small, hugely overpopulated living spaces for the animals, and they are considered commodities to get more money rather than a living animal. Almost all of the animals undergo extreme amounts of mutilation at the hands of the farm workers and they usually cause chronic and/or extreme amounts of pain to the animals because they are usually done without any form of pain relief for the animals. All of this abuse towards the animals is all so the farmers can maximize the output of the products they get from the animals, and the animals’ bodies cannot support the overgrowth and they usually form painful, debilitating deformities from it. One of the biggest organizations against factory farming is called Compassion Over Killing (COK). They go to great lengths to protest and inform people about animal cruelty.

The first reason why factory farming should be banned is that it can cause health issues for people who eat it. According to Gale (2013), “[a]ntibiotics have been used by industrial animal producers for many years [] to prevent animals housed. from getting sick and to help them grow more quickly.” The owners of these companies want to decrease loss by giving animals antibiotics to prevent them from dying. These animals can harm the health of the humans eating them.
Poultry is by far the number one meat consumed in America; it is versatile, relatively inexpensive compared to other meats, and most importantly it can be found in every grocery store through out the United States. All of those factors are made possible because of factory farming. Factory farming is the reason why consumers are able to purchase low-priced poultry in their local supermarket and also the reason why chickens and other animals are being seen as profit rather than living, breathing beings. So what is exactly is factory farming? According to Ben Macintyre, a writer and columnist of The Times, a British newspaper and a former chicken farm worker, he summed up the goal of any factory farm “... to produce the maximum quantity of edible meat, as fast and as cheaply as possible, regardless of quality, cruelty or hygiene” ( Macintyre, 2009). Factory farmers do not care about the safety of the consumers nor the safety of the chicken, all the industrial farmers have in mind are how fast they can turn a baby chick into a slaughter size chicken and how to make their chicken big and plumped. Factory farming is not only a health hazard to the well-being of the animals, but the environment, and human beings ;thus free range and sustainable farming need to be put into practice.
Organic foods have become more and more popular over the years, and consumers may or may not be knowledgeable when shopping for organic and/or conventional foods. This report will help define the difference between organic and conventional foods and farming, including the health benefits and risks. The demand for organic foods will also be discussed briefly. The purpose of this research is to describe and identify the advantages and issues that are involved with organic and inorganic foods.

Local farming methods do not always use sustainable methods. Researching about the methods local farmers use is important in the decision to buy locally.
Obviously, some do adhere to this stereotype, but the majority of these farmers are normal, hardworking people. Although these farmers, both believe in their methods, one is no better than the other. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but there is no true superior method of crop farming. The definition of conventional farming is “Intensive farming or intensive agriculture as an agricultural production system characterized by a low fallow ratio and the high use of inputs such as capital, labor, or heavy use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers relative to land area.” Conventional farming is the method that a majority of farmers use.
Cruelty toward animals, huge economic problems, and major health concerns are just three reasons why factory farming should be banned worldwide. Many people argue that factory farming is the only way to meet growing demands for food in the world today. However, factory farming is just not necessary, especially when it comes down to killing innocent animals in order to feed people. A way to put an end to the factory farming system is by buying our food from smaller, sustainable farms. These businesses still aim to profit from their labor, but that’s not their only objective. (The Issues: Factory Farming, n.d.) They simply will not sacrifice the health of the land or the quality of food simply to make a few extra dollars.
