Bear vs. Shark On a level playing field the bear would prevail because it has many weapons to destroy its prey on multiple surfaces, and they instinctually fish to survive. It’s a known fact that bears not only have mighty paws with razor sharp claws attached onto them, but they also have piercing teeth they use to tear apart any opponent. The bear can independently move both of its paws with ease which allows it to attack the shark from multiple directions. Also, the bear could attempt to stab and grip its rival with its claws and then quickly attempt to bite the shark. By paralyzing the shark with one deep bite in the precise location the bear can quickly destroy the shark. In a matter of a few quick seconds the bear delivers multiple attack with its arsenal of weapons. On the other hand, the shark only has one lethal weapon which are its jagged teeth. This is a disadvantage for the shark because it can only attack its enemy from a single direction. The shark would have to come dangerously close to the bear to attack it effectively. Unlike the shark, the bear will not become immobilized outside of its natural environment. In the wild, bears can swim and are not susceptible of drowning. Therefore, if the bear gets into a vulnerable position during the fight, it still will not be completely defenseless. Underwater the bear would still swing its massive paws to attack the shark. However, if the shark gets into a weak position during the battle it will stain itself to survive. If the shark gets taken out of the water, out of its natural habitat, it will become exposed. Above water the shark will immediately be unable to breath, and it will struggle for air. If taken above the water the shark will not be able to guard itself from the bear’s aggressive attacks, and it will surely lose the fight. Bears might not have the greatest
...s. According to studies and statistics done, you are more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by a shark. They are often misinterpreted as scary and violent creatures, however this is merely due to media. Shark based films such as Jaw show that these sharks are harmful when they really aren't. Tapes/recordings of sharks slaughtering humans are published so often because of its actual unusualness.
There’s No Real Good Guy In the movie, “Blackfish” we are exposed to the fact that the way orcas are treated at SeaWorld is worse than we are lead to believe. We see how they are forced to swim in tiny pools and how they can only be fed if they preform well. After seeing this it makes you feel like the only way to help these poor creatures is to jump on the animal activist wagon and to free all the whales like in “Free Willy”. But is that really the right way to go?
You are smelling the salty water around you and you suddenly feel something pass your leg. Its a bull shark waiting to devour you. These species and the hammerhead are the two species of shark that you would not want to be noticed by. Both species are extremely dangerous and deadly. Bull and hammerhead sharks have many similarities and differences.
But occasionally the younger sharks are preyed on by bigger sharks that do not necessarily have to be Bull sharks they can be become prey to any larger species of shark and occasionally a crocodile. However there are parasites like Pandarus sinuatus, and Periscopus dentatus that use the surface of the shark’s skin and use it to survive (Curtis). Though that does not in anyway decrease or increase the economic uses for the bull shark, its effects on the environment, or level of danger to humans. In certain places around the world the amount of bull sharks is decreasing slightly, because sharks can be harvested to make fish food, for their meat, for oils, and their fins for shark fin soup, or in asia their skin can be used to make “good leather” (“Bullshark”; Curtis). Even though their numbers are thought to be decreasing according to the International Shark Attack Files, otherwise known as the ISAF, has reported that there have been at least 70 reported unprovoked attacks on humans of which 17 were fatal, but that is only the known number of the reported attacks by bull sharks there most likely have been many more attacks that went unreported (“Bullshark”; Curtis). They are known for being one of “the most dangerous sharks in the world” because they along side the tiger shark, and great white they are the most common sharks to attack a human
The bull shark may be known to thrive in the Mississippi River and around Nicaragua but are wide spread throughout the world. The bull sharks have an ability to penetrate far up bays and rivers. Some bull sharks have even been found as far as a couple hundred kilometers from the sea. Bull sharks have also been found in Potomac river. Potomac river is located in southern Maryland and is about 405 miles away from the ocean. There has never been a reported shark attack in Maryland which seems crazy now knowing that bull sharks have been found only 200 yards away from the point lookout state park in Maryland. What is crazy is that bull sharks have the abilities to travel in many different environments and depths but tends to stay in shallow waters between 3-30 meters of water.
This image is what a majority of people believe to be the shark. They believe it to be the bloodthirsty sea monster that appears in countless works of literature and films, but science says otherwise. The classic picture painted by the minds of sailors returning from years at sea come from imagination and sharks’ violent methods of hunting and mating. Sharks fear humans as much as humans fear sharks, and most sharks, particularly the “man-eating” great whites, only bite humans because they mistake surfers for seals. In earlier times, the ocean was a source of mystery and adventur...
Australian beaches are some of the best in the world and WA beaches are some of the best in Australia. But this may soon no longer be a view held by everyone if the WA government continues to support and allow the shark culling off Perth's major beaches. Hi I'm Maya Koentgen, a marine biologist, ecologist and fellow beach user, and I'm here to tell you why shark culling needs to stop. At the moment hundreds of innocent sharks are being caught and killed and why? Because they are simply swimming in their own homes that us humans have invaded.
grizzly bears prefered habitat is deserted rivers, wild mountains, and thick and dense forest. Grizzly bears are majestic symbols of the wild. Bears live in and use a variety of habitat types, playing important roles in each one. This makes them an “umbrella species,” meaning that when we protect them and their habitat we also protect many species. Grizzly bears can also help ecosystems by distributing seeds and nutrients through their scat, and occasionally regulating ungulate populations.
In 2015 only 59 shark attacks have occurred around the world compared to the millions of sharks killed by humans every year. Due to these accidental shark attacks people tend to think that sharks, especially Great Whites are evil creatures with malice intentions when attacks do occur; but, on the contrary that is wrong. Sharks are not the only beautiful and unique creatures in the ocean, they also play a vital role in our ecosystem; however, due to human interference they might not be around much longer, through awareness sharks can be protected from endangerment.
Thesis: Sharks should be conserved because they are an important part of the ocean, attacks are often incidental, and human behavior influences the behavior of sharks.
In Chinese tradition, Shark fin soup is called as “a celebration soup”, which people eat it to celebrate in various occasions. Moreover, people also believed that shark fin consisted of diverse nutrition values which provide them virility, wealth, and power(Wolchover, 2011). These beliefs lead to the beginning of poaching for sharks, the top of food chain in the sea world. Surprisingly, although people are aware of the decreasing number of sharks since the old days, around hundred million of sharks are still hunted each year(Heltus, 2013), to be served on luxury tables surrounded by those believers in things that they do not even prove whether the belief is reliable. Therefore, in the generation that people are mostly educated, sharks should no longer have to be continuously killed for their fins.
Hundreds of people, who get in the ocean every year, are almost none that encounter sharks. Even if you're lucky enough to see a shark big enough to bite you, you're much likely to die from a heart attack than getting bit by one. Shark attacks are mistakes and the idea of a shark off every beach waiting for people to come in the water is completely untrue. I will inform you on the background knowledge of sharks and the reasons why humans should not be afraid only aware.
When the Puritans first settled, it was believed that man first existed in a state of nature where he was born without any constraints, and therefore could live in absolute freedom. This new Puritan idea was explored in many ways, including painting, and writing. In the painting titled, “Watson and Shark” by John Singleton Copley, the Puritan ideals are clearly displayed.
A polar bear is a one of the eight species. “Scientists believe that the polar bear began over 200,000 years ago. They came from the brown bears ancestors.” Most experts think that polar bears are the longest bears. Males measure over 10 feet long, when standing on their hind legs, other bear not so much. Brown bears and polar bear are the largest and are both land carnivores. Polar bears are one of the worlds largest world predictors.
...heir vision is not needed at that depth in the dark water (I 77). These parasites might actually help the sharks. These parasites are biolumiscent and they might attract those fast swimming fish to the oral side of the shark. With out these parasites it is possible that the sharks could not catch as many fish as it does, due to its slow speed. On top of the parasites on its eyes, the Greenland shark also has poisonous flesh. To get rid of the poison n order to eat it, the flesh must be boiled and dried several times (II 63). If the meat is not prepared correctly, it can cause, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, tingling and burning sensation of tongue, throat and esophagus. It can also cause muscular cramps, respiratory distress, coma and death (III Vol 25, 905). This shark may not kill you when it’s alive, but you have to careful when it’s dead.
