PUT ON THE GAME! Americans across the nation enjoy to watch American Football and Baseball. There are so many similarities as well as differences in each sport. Even though American football and baseball are loved by many, they are played with different rules, on different fields, and run on different game clocks. Many argue which is a better sport to watch and enjoy.
The rules of each sport vary in terms of scoring, physical contact, and win conditions. In football, the win goes to the team who scores the most in an allotted time. Football is a very physical game in which you have to move the ball down the end zone to score a touchdown. A touchdown can be scored by running with the ball to the end zone or by passing it to another team mate.

But in baseball, a player has to individually hit a ball going ninety miles per hour with a wooden bat. They also must run through four bases with help from team mates to tag home plate which equals one point. In baseball that is called a run. The team with the most runs wins the game. Unlike football, baseball isn't very physical. In football, players always tackle each other and all want the ball. But baseball players never make contact. In the National Football League (NFL) a standard field is a rectangular shaped field that is one hundred and twenty yards long and fifty three yards wide. But only one hundred yards are accounted with white paint on the field. The other twenty yards are split on the far ends as the end zones each ten yards. No matter what the similarities and differences are, team work is the most important. Teams rely on each other to never quit and always fight until the end. Many fans speculate between which sport is better or more entertaining to watch. The decision varies because both sports have their ups and downs. But does it really matter? Of course you'll want your favorite team to win, but if they put on a good show, does it matter? Sometimes people really hate football or baseball, and maybe both. It mostly varies on personal preference.

For most sports fans there is nothing like opening day and a baseball field. In recent years I have over heard several people say Baseball is not the National Pastime or National Game any longer. When I query these people the typical response is Football is our new National pastime/game. Frank Deford (Nov 7, 2012) a writer for Sports Illustrated said, "Baseball is what we used to be. Football is what we have become." I refuse to believe this based on my knowledge of both games. In this paper we will exam the facts and I would submit to you that Baseball is still the National Pastime/Game and it cannot be disputed.
