Everything has a value, but not everything is the same. Some things have a value of their own, and some are more intense than others. I picked three different readings that we have read in class that I believe have values of their own. Anne Bradstreet believed in the value of family, Olaudah Equiano believed in the value of freedom and Jonathan Edwards believes in the value of faith and that sinning is wrong. Anne Bradstreet used to think about how items were things of value, but something changed. In one of Anne Bradstreet's poems she talks about how her house burned down and so did everything in it. When she saw her house burn down she got upset about all the things that she had lost but then she realized that there are more important things in life. A Piece of evidence to support my idea is that, "And to my God my heart did cry to strengthen me in my distress and not to leave me helpless". "I blest his name that gave and took, that laid my goods now in the dust". If you go back to the first piece of evidence that I wrote you can see that she was upset about what happened. But if you look at the second one she says that she is blessed for he gave and took. That is why he tells us his story. Olaudah was small when he was taken away but he tells us his life story so that we can see how bad the things were back then. A piece of evidence that I collected from the article was, "I had never seen among my people such instances of brutality, and this not only shown towards us blacks but also some of the whites themselves." Not even some of the whites were treated well during this time. This shows how slavery was bad and how Olaudah was right to value
