Have you ever think about anatomy or physiology, or do know what those are meant? As a researcher, I have researched about it and found that it has a lot to do with our body and how it works. Anatomy is a branch in science where individuals study body structure of humans, animals, and any other living things around the world unlike physiology where it has to do with parts that work within living organisms. Physiology is the study of functions and activities of living organisms and their parts, including all its physical and chemical processes. Not only that, but homeostatic, anatomical, and/or medical terminology are the related fields of anatomy and physiology. Homeostasis, anatomical, and/or medical terminology are all of the smaller areas in anatomy and physiology where scientists and doctors have to go through in order for them to cure or prevent our diseases from occurring or getting worse as a result.
First, scientists and doctors know how to cure our diseases is based on his/her knowledge of anatomy; our body structure and the way it is build. We also learned about bones and that is basically what this whole book is about, the importance of bones and how people can use bones to put together crime cases and to study history. Today’s medicine fully understands how human blood circulation works. When the average person thinks about zoology, they usually think about a zoo and or animals. As said in General Zoology, many questions come with this topic. “What is life? In what ways are the various kinds of animals alike or unlike in structure, internal processes, and modes of life? How do animals carry on their activities? How are the many kinds related to one another? In what ways does man resemble and differ from other living things? The answers to many of these questions are provided by the science of zoology.” (General Zoology, page 3). While zoology does involve animals, the general study of zoology is far more complicated then one would imagine. Zoology is a branch of biology that studies the classification, origins, habitats and behaviors of organisms. Someone who studies zoology is a zoologist, and has the tasks of learning about new species and their habitats. It is a job that if mastered, can be one of the most fulfilling and knowledgeable careers someone can obtain.
From primary school, I was always amazed by the fact that the human body, composed of millions of cells, develops from a single fertilized mother cell. This idea triggered my interest for the science of human body. But the main reason I joined medical school was witnessing the actions of the excellent medical unit that saved my sister’s life, after her chocking on peanut. At the university, my interest in anatomy was amplified when I was studying anatomy in the second year. Later, this interest increased during various rotations in surgery and internal medicine.
Whenever asked what my favourite subject is, Biology has been, and will always be, my only answer. It was bewildering to compare my body to a machine working harmoniously. The digestive system, the respiratory system and the circulatory system are coordinating with each other right underneath my skin. Realising that the 'blue lines' visible beneath the flesh of my hands are actually veins carrying deoxygenated blood fueled my desire to know more about how my body functions. To me, it has always been about getting to know my self better.

This is also needed for when the baby is delivered; especially in the case of a Caesarean Section, the obstetrician must know how to properly perform surgery without harming either mother or child. Any condition that the mother has that may affect the child can be understood with knowledge of anatomy. An understanding of genetics is needed, so that any abnormalities of the fetus can be understood more fully, especially if they are inherited. During pregnancies when there is concern that the child will inherit a disorder from one of the parents, genetics can be used to determine the risk facing the child.
Biochemists are scientists who study the chemistry that is relate to the biological organisms. According to State university website “Their work includes studying the complex chemical combinations and reactions involved in metabolism, reproduction, growth, and heredity.” Biochemists have a verity of career positions or work environment where they can find themselves in. “Some biochemists study the body’s immune response to germs and allergens or the effectiveness of drugs in treating a wide array of afflictions. Other biochemists work in the commercial food or agricultural field looking for ways to improve products and crops” (Guide to Biochemistry Careers, 2013). Biochemists function in the medical field to help in the diagnosis of various manageable diseases by analyzing body fluids, urine and blood. These biochemists work in a pathological team or as a biochemical scientist in various hospitals and chemical pathology laboratory (Clinical biochemistry, n.d.). Biochemists analyze changes that occur in the biochemical structure of the human body to diagnose the disease and therapy, used to treat the biochemical change. Changes that occur in the human body, as a result of diseases, can be detected with the help of various techniques that find alteration in the blood, level of enzymes and its activities. Biochemists help in analyzing therapies and other clinical methods that can be used by doctors to treat such diseases (Clinical Biochemistry/ Clinical Biochemist, n.d.).
