The discussion of making community service part of graduation requirements actually sounds like a good idea. There are many different types of community service and I think everyone should need to be involved in some sort just to see what it is like. There are many different qualities that community service can teach. Especially for students who are preparing to graduate and move out into the real world, it would be nice if they could get a taste of what actually goes on in the real world. Community service sounds like something you have to do if you get in trouble, but some people who do it actually really enjoy it. Community service can be used as a punishment, but it should not always be thought of that way. It really shouldn't be a burden to help out your own community once in awhile. If community service was apart of our graduation requirements, I would choose to help out at the humane society, something that has to do with sports medicine, and probably do something with the city or recreational crew. The reason I would choose to help at the Humane Society is because I love taking care of animals and playing with them and just being around them. The rec crew does a lot of work at the parks around the community: mowing lawns, taking care of the land, keeping the restrooms clean, and just taking care of the parks in general. This also includes the baseball fields, keeping the fields in good shape, etc. This type of work would teach responsibility, diligence and precision. You would have to be a hard worker because it is an outdoor job usually and starts early in the morning. You would really have to have some self discipline to do this every day, and you would need to be willing to work
Imagine a typical teen, they have a job, homework, sports, and other extracurriculars. They don’t get home till late at night and they are exhausted. This teen can take much more and thankfully they are about to graduate, but wait the school wants them to fit in one hundred of community service into that schedule in order to graduate. How on earth is this busey teen suppose to do that with all that they have going on? Students should not have to do one hundred hours of community service to graduate high school.
If schools wanted to encourage community service then they shouldn’t force students to do it. Schools should let students know about volunteering opportunities and possibly let them sign up for the school so that it is easier for them to do so if they want
Everyone should do some sort of community service at some point in their life. Community service is voluntary work that is intended to help people in a particular area. It teaches people what is right from wrong. It helps you develop respect for others and understand that there are people who are living a harder life than you. You should not be sitting around doing nothing and complaining that your life is bad, instead you should be helping others realize that there is something out there that can benefit everyone.

I agree with Mr. Adams and I think colleges should provide both types of education. Calling for students to complete community service hours will build the grounds on which they build the rest of their lives. However, many people don’t even give community service a chance. They say they’re too busy, it’s not for them, or simply choose not to do it. At my high school, we were required to complete thirty two hours of community service for graduation; many students came to love it.

The dictionary definition is: ‘Voluntary work, intended to be for the common good, usually done as part of an organized scheme.’ ("Collins English Dictionary" ) People all over the country are doing community service for church activities, scouts, and because its what the judge ordered. Why not have the students do this as well, there's definitely no shortage of service to be done.
Community service is a common service for people to take care of each other and volunteer. People apply to different community services: soup kitchen, taking care of children and homeless people, clinics, churches, schools, neighbor's house and many countless places to volunteer. Some people really enjoy to work at community services while others do not. These community services can be a punishment for criminals because a court assigns them to do so. However, some people do not agree with community service supporters. While some people believe that there should be a community service requirement for high school and college graduation because students need to learn and have experiences there, they are right; on the other hand, a community service requirement should be allowed for two reasons and not be allowed for another three reasons.
Community service has become a requirement for an eighteen year old student to get admitted in an university or to pursue a paying job. Although I am involved in many community service, I personally believe that it should not be a requirement. A student should desire to work voluntarily. He or she should not be forced to perform the community service to make their college application look better. There are several learners who are against volunteering. The high school students have various things to see and learn. They should be able to help others by their own choice. They should not perform it just to graduate. Pressurizing can lead to have short-tempered apprentices which is not good.
Community Service is a service that is performed for the benefit of the public or its institutions. There are two groups who perform community service, and those are criminals and the rest of us. This means that, for the majority of us, performing community service is completely voluntary. It is for this reasons li that I believe that community service should not be mandatory in high school for graduation. The supporters of this act think of it as an ideal society’s noble concept, but it is rather a noble concept trying to force an ideal society. In an article written by Linda Saslow titled High School Mandating Community Service for Graduation, she mentions the many pros to mandatory community service. Saslow mentions school districts like Roslyn and Hewlett-Woodmere (1994, para 3) that have started requiring high school students to complete a certain number of community service hours in order to graduate high school. Their goal is to give “kids the opportunity for new experiences” (Saslow, 1994, para 4). Through research conducted by the school districts, they have come to the conclusion that students who would’ve been “too shy to volunteer have admitted that they were glad they had been forced”. Throughout the school year I can do community service within my area by using the skills of Community, Leadership, Positive Self-Concept and Navigate the System. Next I can develop some goals to know what I want to achieve in by including the skills of Long Range Goals and Realistic Self-Appraisal. Mandating community service for high school graduation was the best idea anyone could ever invent. Its a very useful, promising, and beneficial experience that every teen should want to be a part of. Volunteering gives people a sense of fulfilment, and the joy of knowing that so many people need help and being able to be that person to render those services make a better person. Community service should not be a burden for any teenager, but a special gift being giving to the community by a special individual.
