Since attending East Duplin High School, I have faced many obstacles, late night homework, and family issues that just add on to the stress of being a student. I have enjoyed my high school, but I can’t wait for what college has to offer me. However, have reached the recent dilemma of needing financial aid for college. I believe that i deserve the Mill Swamp Community Club Scholarship because I have worked hard throughout my high school career, I have grown up in the community, and with the money I plan not only to better myself, but bring back my knowledge from college and apply to my home community. Freshman year I was involved in three athletic sports and was also in the BETA club. On top of the sports I knew that school comes first and was invited to take honors class after I passed the placement tests. I spent many nights coming home from games and practices to stay up for hours working on projects, essays, and studying. I believe that hard work is what makes not only a person, but a community better. I continued to be involved in school activities through my senior year. I am a member of Student Government Association, Health Occupation Students of America, and play varsity volleyball with numerous newspaper appearances. Continuing to push one’s self allows the person to grow; which was my thought when I made the decision to take Advanced Placement classes that were provided by my school. I am currently enrolled and passing in all three of my AP classes. …show more content…
My past recreational teams have had several end of the season parties at the pool facility and all have been great experiences in my life .Those days and these people have always had an impact on me and I can only hope to return the favor one day. I believe that the scholarship should go to someone who is familiar with the community and it’s
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.
The AMGEN Summer Scholars research experience will contribute to my plans to become a M.D./Ph.D. candidate, and ultimately an Oncologist, by helping me develop critical and independent thinking as well as creative skills as they relate to the field of medicine. It will also help me develop a more thorough understanding of biological concepts, how they directly apply to medical treatment, and the ways in which biotechnology fuses multiple fields of science to create technologies to care for others. The opportunity to assist in creation of the technologies that will be used on my future patients will ultimately improve my ability to treat their illnesses in adaptive ways. The opportunity I would have to read, interpret, and be a part of creating
Unfortunately, my family and I fall into an area of the middle class that prohibits us from receiving need-based aid. Although I have graciously been awarded the Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship, without some additional form of aid, a Seton Hill education may be prohibitively expensive. My fourth year’s tuition alone would cost $37,520 with my current scholarship, and I would still have to pay for living expenses. Once my undergraduate and fifth years’ expenses are included, I will be over $150,000 in debt when I graduate. As a student who has worked exceedingly hard in the classroom and as a leader for four years, this amount of financial burden feels like a punishment. If I do not receive the Seton Scholar Award, I am not confident that I can attend Seton Hill and make the impacts I have described in this
Scholarship, leadership, character, and service are four attributes that define an excellent student. Being in high school, it’s difficult at times to be a leader, show your character, and be involved with voluntary services while being focused on scholarship, but I have managed to do all four numerous times. I am so grateful and excited to have the chance to be a part of the National Honors Society.
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
The Jared E. McEachern Scholarship is vital to my college career due to my decision to attend Anderson University. Anderson University is a private school that costs nearly thirty- six thousand dollars to attend per year. It is imperative that I apply for as many scholarships as possible in hopes of reaching my goal of receiving at least half of my tuition. My parents are very supportive and willing to help in any way they can; however, I genuinely do not want to cause them any stress when it comes to paying for college.
People’s lives are changed every day by their actions and experiences. This past summer, I participated in a community service project, an experience that opened my eyes in many ways. I was a volunteer at the County Memorial Hospital. In my time as a volunteer at the hospital, I was able to meet patients and staff members from all over the world and learn about their life experiences. Listening to all of their stories has made me truly appreciate everything which I have.
As a senior at Woodside High School, it is my goal to stay focused so that I will graduate in June, the year of 2015. My grades have always been superior; I have been on the honor roll every marking period since my freshmen year in high school. I am involved in many extracurricular activities that I love participating in to help others. I have previously volunteered at Greenwood Elementary school, and also at my church. Furthermore, I have been involved in certain clubs, cheerleading, as well as the dance magnet for my four years at Woodside High.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
I am a great candidate for this scholarship because I have been an active member through my FFA Chapter since my freshman year of high school by participating in community service activities and FFA competitions. Without the guidance
Not necessarily in the classroom but other areas. Areas that I think people can notice since I enjoy them so much. I am talking about exercising, maintaining jobs while going through school, and being there for my Greek events. The first example probably sounds phony or bogus to attach to a legacy. But for me I love to be in the gym, running and feeling good. I hope people have taken into account the amount of time I have spent working out and the hard work that I have put in to be confident in myself. The second part is centered for the people that know me on a deeper level. I am talking about my roommates, Greek brothers, and close friends at Hope. A lot of students are able to go to College and withstand a job and classes at the same time. However there are a lot of students who could not and would either need to drop courses or quit their job. For me this was the case this last semester I could not keep working twenty-five hours and maintain grades that I want, so I had to stop working and focus on school. But over my course at Hope I have had three jobs through out college during some challenging semesters and I think that it has taught me to balance school and work at the same time. The last example of hard work is being an active member of the Cosmopolitan Fraternity. It is a huge commitment to be apart of this organization and being at all of the meetings every Monday night. People in the Fraternity
Along my journey of attending high school, I have participated in multiple things including dance, art classes, and track. These activities have improved the possibility of me succeeding in my field and helped me acquire diverse skills that would be used in my field. Dance for coordination, art classes
Since my freshman year of high school at Jordan, I have been in the Aspirations in Medical Services, AIMS, Academy. This program allows students to explore health related careers and really emphasizes the importance of going to college and volunteer work. Throughout high school, I have completed many volunteer hours in the Empact Long Beach and Bike Uptown programs and also at the Long Beach Veteran Affairs Hospital. I also played on the school water polo team and swim team. My family would greatly benefit from this scholarship if I were to receive the Community Leaders Award.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
