Communism and its Unfortunate Flaw
Throughout the course of history, colonies, city-states, and countries alike
have attempted different forms of government. From monarchies to anarchies, it has remained clear what manner of government works best, both for the economy and the people- a capitalist society. Capitalism breeds competition and individual accomplishments. Unfortunately Karl Marx did not feel this way when he published his short piece, The Communist Manifesto, a cry for all those in favor of a communist world to stand up and unite. According to Marx, the capitalist form of government "has torn away from the family its sentimental veil, and has reduced the family relation to a mere money relation" (82). He goes on to describe more of these crimes the government, notably the bourgeoisie, has inflicted upon the populace, the proletariat. Yet Marx proves to over-generalize himself on a majority of issues. Although communism is itself almost infallible theoretically, it simply cannot exist in the overwhelmingly competitive, capitalist world that exists today. George Orwell's Animal Farm is an exceptional example that illustrates the faults of communism. In this fictional tale similar to the Russian Revolution of the early 1900's, a group of farm animals overthrows its corrupt farmer and forms its own society. The parallels to communism become clear as all
animals are made equal and work toward the same goal of building their farm. Unfortunately, human nature and competition sink in, as the intelligent pigs become the all-knowing leaders. This is not so much to say that competition is a negative aspect of the economy; on the contrary, it has been very much an overall positive influence. Communism also does not take into account that human nature has a tendency to create competition. People strive to do their best, for when they do they are most often rewarded. Communism does no such thing, and provides for one of the main flaws that attributes to its failure.
In Marx's ideal communist world, the entire populace is equal, and shares everything. There is no competition, and no one is rewarded more or less based on his or her individual achievement. Yet with this newfound sense of a worldwide sharing, there, in theory, is no poverty or hunger.
In the novel Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut, communist ideals are exhibited throughout the novel. Communism came about from Karl Marx ideas of having a classless society, as written in the Communist Manifesto. A main idea in this essay is that society is splitting into the bourgeoisie (capitalist) and the Proletariat (workers). The bourgeois in the novel could be the engineers or the machines while the Proletariat is the homestead. The Communist Manifesto can also be shown in the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell, with the animals being the proletariat and the humans classified as the bourgeois. Orwell and Vonnegut have similar ideas when it comes to the communist ideas written by Karl Marx.

The inferno takes the reader through Dante’s haunting journey in hell. On this journey Dante is guided by Virgil through nine circles that make up hell. Hell is shaped like a tunnel, and the further down it descends the worse the punishment is in each circle. Sinners are placed in the circles according to their sins. The more offensive the nature of the sin, the worse the punishment is, and the further down the tunnel is where the circle is placed. Dante illustrates his concerns and frustrations with the morality of his fellow countrymen and Christians by creating a specific circle and punishment for each type of sinner. He also shows his own personal belief that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. Allusions
Angel's description of Tess as Demeter, the goddess of chastity, and as Artemis, goddess of the hunt, seems quite fitting for Tess. Tess Durbeyfield is, as Hardy's subtitle indicates, a pure woman and as the men in the novel demonstrate by their actions, a hunted animal.
In the opening Canto of Dante’s Divine Comedy, he immediately makes several powerful moves that help lay the foundation for the themes that constantly reoccur throughout the epic poem. We can see that to Dante the themes of Man’s Return to God, the Perfection of God’s Justice, and the Triumph of Grace above Reason, were essential elements that Dante tried to communicate to his readers and that make up the allegorical nature of the epic.

Animal Farm is indeed communist propaganda. It describes how the animals overthrow the farmer and drive all humans from the farm. The animals create a set of laws, designed to eradicate all hints of humanity; humanity, of course, represents the capitalist government. The animals call each other "comrade", a clear reference to communism, and after the revolution the animals are described as being "happy as they had never conceived it possible to be" (Orwell 46).
One thing which relates to the topic is how pigs are favored on Animal Farm. The main source for this was because their leader, Napoleon, was a pig. The pigs were subject to favoritism by Napoleon, and were subject to privileges that other animals were not given. Privileges such as sleeping in beds, wearing clothes, and drinking beer. The pigs were the only animals involved in making the vital decisions on Animal Farm. The fact emulates in a way how our government tends to operate. The Government Party members are paid an exorbitant amount of money. With this money, the members of government can purchase costly cars and houses if they wish to do so. They make all the important decisions about the country where as the tax payers rarely take say in it.
George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm is a great example of allegory and political satire. The novel was written to criticize totalitarian regimes and particularly Stalin's corrupt rule in Russia. In the first chapter, Orwell gives his reasons for writing the story and what he hopes it will accomplish. It also gives reference to the farm and how it relates to the conflicts of the Russian revolution. The characters, settings, and the plot were written to describe the social upheaval during that period of time and also to prove that the good nature of true communism can be turned into something atrocious by an idea as simple as greed.
In American society today, marriage is based mainly off of love and affection. This idea was introduced early on, but not always valued. In Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice, she introduces the different marriages of the 18th century. Upon conclusion of the novel, the reader is lead to believe Austen supports the idea that marriage can only be successful if it is founded on long, lasting love that is found through thoroughly understanding each other’s character and intentions.
According to Dante's poem “Inferno”, he incorporated many elements, ideas and personalities from the ancient world, and synthesized these ideas into christian world. In Inferno, the author also known as the main character was traveling through a dark wood and lost his path. At this time, he met three beasts that were leopard ( represented lust), lion (represented violence), and she-wolf ( represented fraud), then they blocked his way. Also, Dante met a ghost of Virgil who was a great poet in ancient Rome world, then Virgil began to guide Dante to go back to his path through the hell and through the heaven. The reason that Virgil helped Dante was because of the woman in heaven who was Beatrice Dante’s departed love. The journey through the hell had began, Dante enter the gate of hell that marked the inscription “ABANDON ALL HOPE, YOU WHO ENTER HERE”, it means that people who enter the gate will be hopeless. I think Dante was scared after he read the inscription. In addition, Virgil told Dante that the hell will have ninth circles of punishments that based on the crime. This concept of punishment is the belief of ancient world. In Canto 4 ,the first circle of hell called Limbo, Dante had met many great writers of ancient world such as Statius,Horace, Ovid, and Lucan ; these writers lead Dante to castle where he met other souls of philosopher like Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato . These writer and philosophers were very famous. They died then went to hell, because they did not know Christ who is God and they had no sin.Through this first circle, the author had used ancient Greek philosophers and writers to relate the past history, elements of artwork, and literature of ancient Geek in christian world . The next circle th...
Dante’s first experience that Alighieri puts him through, is through the woods. The woods symbolize Dante’s life and he goes down a wrong path of the woods, (The wrong path of life). This is where Dante meets Virgil, who is sent from the first circle of hell to be Dante’s guide for freedom of sin. Alighieri made Dante the character, to be a lost soul in his gifts and what potential he has and how he’s wasting it by not following the path of God, but the path of philosophy. As Dante enters the first few circles of Hell, he is concerned for those who have been sent here by God. Dante is confused because to him it makes no sense for these people to be put through so much pain and suffering. He starts to have sorrow. Virgil tries to explain to him that God did this for their good and for good reason. Dante is still having trouble understanding, until he recognizes a familiar face. When he sees him, he calls out “May you weep and wail for all eternity, for I know you, Hell-dog, filthy as you are.” As he pushes him back with the other sinners. This is the start to Dante finally understanding why these sinners are here. Virgil then congratulates him for understanding.
Communism, a governmental system popularized within the last century. Communism is often associated with Russians, especially because Karl Marx, a russian philosopher, invented the idea of communism within the Russians’ Government System. George Orwell, a world-renowned American author, tells this story through one of his books, but he takes a surprising twist. Instead of retelling the story, he uses animals as an allusion to Russian communism. Animal Farm, unlike conventional animal books, is very morbid by conveying the problems that come from Communism.
The start of destiny to follow towards its path was when the following prophecy was given to Oedipus’ parents, "An oracle was reported to Laius..." (Sophocles 1.2.669-683). This prophecy that was given had caused the family’s lives to change and is like a test because if they were not told the prophecy, the events that happened and the tragedy will not occur. Oedipus’s parents choice was to abandon him which
In 1945, 28 years after the Russian Revolution, George Orwell published Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a book based on the real life events in the Russian Revolution and leading up to it, but the book focuses on animals on a farm instead of real-life people. George based the book on animals instead of actual people to avoid conflict with the idea that he was targeting these people, and as a way to inform people of all ages of the Russian Revolution in a lighter, more appropriate manner. In the book, Karl Marx is represented by Old Major, a pig who predicted that the Rebellion would happen. Also, his theories were represented throughout the entire book. For example, the pigs forced the ‘lower, working class animals’ to believe that the conditions
