Which form of communication do you think you use more often? Communication has been essential for us, for as long as we have known. The two forms of communication discussed in this essay are mail and texting. Mail has been around since the mid-nineteenth century while the first text ever sent was in 1992. Whichever method used, they are great ways to communicate with other people. We will discuss the differences and similarities of communicating through a text or a letter in the mail. This generation use both forms of communication and we will see what makes them different. This essay will discuss the differences and similarities of communicating through a text on a cell phone or a letter in the mail. The first topic that will be discussed is mail. The first thing that we can about how mail is very …show more content…
An example is every mail must have a postage stamp and a roll of stamps cost roughly ten dollars. Now sending mail after mail is not something that someone would want to do unless they are prepared to pay the charges for stamps. You may also have to pay if the person that you send the mail to gets it but you did not put enough postage stamps on – you could have to pay the rest of the fee for not putting the correct number on the mail that you are trying to send. Mail is considered outdated now a day. Very rarely does anyone write out a letter and seeing the number of people that do not know how to write out the envelope on the for when we need to talk to someone. It is so much easier for our generation to go around and text people instead of writing out letters. Of course, this is impractical for people who live close to each other but for pen pals, it could be a useful tool. Unfortunately, technology has ruined and taken over our lives. We have become a lazy generation because we do not take time to use both types of communication
Communication is the key to any healthy relationship along with other factors. When text messaging is the main type of communication a relationship is bound to have many problems. Communication is supposed to be face- to- face and not electronically. Text messages are also a thing that alters trust between spouses. Many times people use text messages to be sneaky. There are many times when text messages have caused many scandals. Text messaging also lacks a needed amount of emotion. You can not always express the way you feel through a message because it can be taken that seriously. Text messaging is the downfall of many intimate relationships because it results in lack of communication, trust, honesty and emotion.
In our world there are many forms of communication and these devices are beginning to take a toll on our younger generations. In Jeffery Kluger’s article,” We Never Talk Anymore: The Problem with Text Messaging,” the idea that younger generations are becoming socially inept due to technology is discussed. As these younger generations consume texting as a main form of communication other important social skills deteriate.
How often do we text? Text messaging is a very useful way to communicate; but, there are occasions where texting is unnecessary, for example in meetings, watching movies, interacting with family, and even in the shower. However, while texting can be overused, it can also help us get to know one another in easier and faster ways. In Natalie Y. Moore’s article “The Rule of Thumbs: Love in the Age of Texting," she explains how the use of texting it is slowly destroying the love between two people (Moore, 1). Although, some people might agree with Moore points of view, when she argues that texting is killing romance and it should be reserved for some notifications, such as “I’m running late;” others might disagree with this idea
The fastest growing form of communication in America’s society is texting. David Mercer brings up a valid argument about how the appearance of texting was not a slow process, parents never had an opportunity to experience texting so they have no way of teaching their children how to use it responsibly (Carter). Texting is so common it carries over into our everyday lives easily and at times becomes controlling. America’s society thrives on the conveniences texting provides us. While texting is fast and convenient it has numerous faults that affect our society mentally and socially. Texting can be beneficial as it simplifies our lives at times; however, there are numerous negative effects texting has on our society.
New technologies are allowing us to do things faster, easier, and more efficiently than ever before. Almost every new innovation in technology improves the speed and productivity of any task at hand. Electronic mail (E-mail) is possibly one of the greatest things to happen to the world. Despite this, there are people who find difficulties in using either E-mail or conventional mail. To help decide whether to use E-mail or the United States postal Service, a comparison of each one’s speed, ease of use, reliability, and cost is a helping factor.
Nowadays, more individuals are previous the methodology of making telephone calls and are putting their fingers to great use to texting. Individuals assert that sending a texting is speedier and shabbier than making a call. Yes, if individuals are learned in the craft of messaging, possibly discussion could be speedier than a telephone call and can even be less exorbitant. Accommodation might be a gift, however excessively of a great thing is never perfect. In spite of the fact that telephone calls and messaging are to complete the same task, messaging can have earnest outcomes, for example: absence of true talks, improvement of standoffish conducts, and needed lingual authority discussion.
Although electronic mail (a.k.a. email) is mainly used, at least in societies perception, for “quick” (and therefore not terribly important) conversations, I believe email has an important role precisely because it gets rid of the quick and unimportant details before face-to-face communication can take place. Allowing the face-to-face communication to focus more on significant issues. Erin Karper, a graduate student at Purdue University, writes this about an interview she conducted with a fellow student:
Step onto any college campus and take a look around. You will find clumps of students standing around in circles, phones in hand, typing away. What is it they are doing? Texting. Ever since the first text message was sent in 1993, the use of text messaging as a means of communication has spread like wild fire, especially amongst the adolescent generation. And with this new form of communication a new language has appeared; text-speak, the shortening of common words into abbreviations and acronyms (Drouin 49). While texting and the text-speak language seem to have been welcomed by many, what affect is this new technology having on the way we communicate? Is it possible that texting is negatively affecting our ability to use formal written communication, or is this idea just a myth perpetuated by negative media attention? And what changes has texting brought to the way we communicate person-to person? Are these changes positive, negative, or perhaps a mixture of both?
The question of young people and cell phone use and texting causing young people to be less able to concentrate and focus has always been a difficult one to answer. Technology gives teenagers so much but includes many drawbacks. Cell phone use and texting has it’s advantages such as teachers embracing tech, uses for educational purposes, and easy to use;however, some drawbacks are as socializing, time away from homework, and bad communication skills.
Like the rest of the world, I cannot go a day without my phone. Try leaving your phone at home for a day and let me know how you feel. With the growing technology my phone is like my arms and legs. It is my must- have- can’t live without phone. It is my connection to the outside world. It is my connection to other people’s lives and theirs to connect with mine. The “cell phone” started out as a form of communication via calling and then it exploded with text messaging. Now it seems that most people would prefer texting then calling someone.
In the past decade, technology brings huge impacts on social interaction. From phone call to facetime, from blog to Facebook. Advance technology enables us to reach and communicate with people in a more convenient and broad way, no matter how far these people are away from us. Medium of communication are growing. However, some old ways of communications never fade out. And I am going to talk about
Electronic Mail, a means of communication that is growing at a very rapid rate. In this paper, I will write about introduction of e-mail, the advantage and disadvantage of e-mail, mailing lists, sending an e-mail message, sending attachments, e-mail improvement, and security features. Introduction of Electronic Mail Electronic mail (E-mail) has become popular and easy way of communication in this decade. E-mail is a method of sending and receiving document or message from one person to another. E-mail is not only replacement for postal mail and telephones, and also it is a new medium. E-mail send plain text, images, audio, spreadsheets, computer programs can attach to an e-mail message. Using the e-mail, you must have a computer on a network. The computer must require a modem and phone line. Sending and receiving e-mail needs an e-mail program. Every e-mail user requires an e-mail address. This e-mail address is similar to a postal address. E-mail address is written as username@domain, for instance, PCLEE@juno.com. The username is used for sending and receiving e-mail.
People in the present society have turned from the use of the old means of communication to the more advanced and technological ways of communicating. Technology has made it easier for people to communicate in a faster, efficient, and cost saving means through the introduction of the communication channels. The world has turned out to be the centre for technology with different technologies emerging daily as the people continue to develop from time to time to cope with the growing technology. The benefits of adopting the communication technology are explained in this article which shows why people do not function without technology.

Email (electronic mail) was one of the biggest breakthroughs in communication when the internet was commercialized. With email, it became possible to send messages and letters across the world in a matter of seconds to the recipients address. Email was used as an alternative to conventional mail or snail' mail, as the term was introduced to describe its speed. As technology improved, it became possible to attach' documents, photographs and even sound clips or songs to emails which made mail by post redundant. Emails used packet switching software whereby the email was broken down into packets' and sent via the internet to the recipient.
