I am writing this letter today to explain my situation and hopefully find some common ground with the school about the exact reasons my grades were so poor last year. Before coming to Mason, I was an honor student who had never even failed a course let alone obtained a lower ranking grade such as a D. The real reason I struggled this past semester was because of health issues that bogged me down and presented me with the challenge of being able to attend class regularly and participate at an efficient output with my school work. From about late October time all the way to the Spring my body was at war with itself dealing with walking pneumonia. I would come down with headaches, cough frequently, feel sluggish and light headed at times, and
even found myself vomiting on a few occasions. The added stress of my teachings didn’t help with situation as I tried my best to attend class regularly and maintain a healthy balance with my work. I even have medical documentation explaining the full situation and providing proof to woes of my health. I am and always have been a diligent and dedicated scholar who is committed to my school work. You can imagine how devastated I was when I found out I had failed and displaced from some of my courses over these health issues. Im asking for another chance to come back as a healthy man to reverse these results. I am willing to even take things at a slower pace and work with my advisor to ensure the best results from retuning back to Mason. I just want the staffing to know that this was a unfortunate ordeal I had to go through because of my health. I am not a bad student and I have the transcripts to prove that I’m not a bad student. I look forward to coming back to Mason and being the best student I can be while yielding nothing but positive results on everything from my grades to my social life. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to meeting with my advisor to further discuss the steps I need to take to make sure Im getting everything done I need to complete.

A time that I did something that I thought I couldn't do, was to stick up for others. When I was in sixth grade, during recess, I saw a girl named Melissa crying. I went up to her and asked what was wrong. She said that people were talking about her behind her back, and that she felt awkward around them. I consoled her by letting her know that friends don't talk behind friends backs and that you have other people that you can talk to during recess. It bothered me how Melissa was sad. She felt a little better after we talked and then we played games.
It was the first day of school. I was eager to see most of my friends who I went to middle school with. There was one big thing that struck me; I noticed my friends changed. They started dressed differently, acted differently, changed their hair style, and even started wearing makeup. Since the transition fresh out of middle school and into high school, my friends wanted to look older. The biggest factor that bothered me was how they would conform to look like the sophomores, juniors, and seniors. I felt that my good friends wanted to conform and be something they weren’t. In my personal view, Americans in general want to feel mature sophisticated but also want to have fun. Individuality is essential because it allows people to express who they are as an individual. When people express themselves differently and in their own way, they elucidate uniqueness and universal truth. Values in American culture can contradict with family, fashion, and the workplace.
I must also acknowledge my role in my transcript’s substandard showing. As my SAT and ACT scores indicate, I have the potential to achieve success in any field chosen. However, I have procrastinated and failed to apply myself to my studies. This year I have made and earnest effort to improve my work ethic. My grade point average is rising and my study habits are improving. I know that I can continue with this improvement.
As a student, I am often troubled by the rigid routines of the school day, despite the fact that I am actually a very habitual person. The constant ringing of bells, lectures, bellwork, classwork, homework, each a daily practice throughout the school year. Although all of these components promote conformity, which will ultimately support the balance of school and societal norms, they also tend to threaten each student’s own unique characteristics. This then poses the question; to what degree should schools encourage conformity versus individuality? Certainly, a level of conformity is required to achieve a balanced society however, the overall structure of the school day and class, including the methods used to teach and mandatory classes, is depriving students of their sense of independence by not allowing them to think for themselves and destroying their natural curiosity; therefore I believe schools need to place more emphasis on the individuality of students.

Dear Financial aid Committee. I am writing to appeal for reinstatement of my financial aid which was revoked due to my poor grades during fall 2012. Many schools across the nation do not grasp the importance of school spirit. School spirit has the power to perform miracles in the athletic and educational world, and schools have taken notice. Student athletes and coaches crave more school spirit because enthusiasm from a crowd provides a team with energy unattainable in any other circumstance. We all focus on the fact how people are different and not the same When I was in Middle school, conformity was everywhere with an exception of a couple people. But then when I came to High school I've seen about 75% conformity and 25% individuality this show when people get older they get the more individual people get. We can all agree, educators and future educators alike, that teaching students is so much more than just presenting information to them. There is more to learning than only speaking. We’ve all had those teachers who were brilliant in their subject area, but not brilliant in making the students know the information. These are not true teachers; they are only smart. They teach in one way only, and doesn’t believe in individualized instruction, even though we all know that “low-income students and students of color tend to feel less “connected” to their schools than affluent and Anglo students, and that older students feel less connected than younger ones” (Schaps). As a future educator, sometimes I fear that I will become like one of these teachers, and I want to make sure that each of my students enjoy coming in class to learn, and is able to apply what they’ve learned to their unique lives. So for this inquiry project, I’ve decided to focus on classroom community. I believe that every great teacher establishes this concept in his/her classroom; without this concept, learning cannot happen. In this paper, I will define classroom community, discuss different ways to implement it in every classroom, and show the results of making an effort to keep it in your classroom.
I, Aulus Argollo Jr, am writing this letter to make an appeal regarding my status under the Academic Suspension here at Nichols College. I have recently received a letter stating that I have been placed on Academic Suspension at Nichols due to low GPA scores in the last semester. I am appealing this suspension because of difficulty in completing my courses.
This past semester has been the hardest semester so far. I had so much to on my plate. I had internship 16 hours a week, work 22 hours a week, I was taking 4 courses (a total of 15 credits), and I also have my 2 year old son. I got very little sleep, I gain 10 pound, and I was in physical pain almost every day. I am physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. As I started to advance into my high school education, I noticed that my attitude about school and grades was not going to get me anywhere. I went to school and goofed off with my friends and did enough work to get a decent 70 on my work and go home.
