The Royal Image Boutique is a staple in the lives of Colorado pageant and prom queens. For these women, a formal gown is a necessity for the occasion. Every year, thousands of women walk through the doors in awe of a room most only see in their dreams. Glitzy gowns line the walls, in color-coordinated perfection, just waiting to be someone’s dream dress. Just as owner Raeanne Smith had envisioned, when she started the boutique 16 years ago. A pageant queen herself, Smith’s reign as Mrs. Colorado 2000 opened her eyes to a market Colorado was seriously lacking: formal gowns. “I struggled to find local wardrobe resources that I needed to be the best competitor possible,” Smith said. With that, The Royal Image was born. In a spare room of her home, with 12 gowns, Smith started outfitting pageant contestants for competition. A small operation, with big dreams Raeanne found her passion in the world of designer dresses. Word spread to local high schools, bringing girls into her home searching for prom dresses. For some Colorado girls, however, going to The Royal Image is the right way to start any prom season. “At the Royal Image, picking out my prom dress was always an amazing experience. I bought two dresses from there and loved them both,” said Brynna Carman, a graduate of Golden High School. Brynna talked highly of the friendly staff who are key in helping find the perfect dress, “I think I tried on 30 dresses and no one cared, it was great.” The Royal Image has dominated the market in not only Colorado, but surrounding states, as well. “We get girls that come in from Wyoming, Nebraska, Texas, California, we even had a great client from
