Colonization of Mars should Start There are over seven billion people living on Earth right now and that number continues to grow every year. The Earth will eventually become overcrowded and resources will begin to deplete and a new areas to live will be sought out. Human always find new places to live and thrive and space may become frontier for new human settlements to thrive. The planet Mars is one of the closest planets that reassembles Earth and is only approximately 33.9 million miles away from Earth. Many benefits can come from space exploration and travel such as new technology and inventions. Several inventions created for space exploration

But if research into new technology continues we should be able to someday terraform Mars. A man named Elon Musk announced that he has a plan to get people from Earth and send them to Mars by 2030 to begin colonization of the red planet. He is creating new more powerful rocket engines called “Raptors” to be installed on his spacecraft that will transport future astronauts to Mars (“The New York Times – Breaking News, World News & Multimedia’). As with the new rocket engines we will continue to build, create, and improve our technologies to further fulfill our needs and desires. As humans we need oxygen and that is one major thing Mars lacks and it lacks this because its atmosphere is extremely thin, this allowed much of the Suns’ ultra violet rays to seep through and evaporate much of the liquid water that once existed on the planets’ surface a million years ago (‘University Today – Space and Astronomy News”.). A theory exist of how we can slowly rebuild the planets’ atmosphere again, and that is by creating a greenhouse effect on the planet exactly how we create one here on Earth. This will begin to warm the planet which will allow the soil to warm which will release more carbon into the air which will further increase the speed of the greenhouse effect. This will soon allow the water from beneath the surface to melt and return to the surface (Reserve, By The Ross
The word race is defined at its core as a competition between runners, horses, vehicles, boats, etc. to see which is the fastest in covering a set course. Well, interestingly enough, a race of a different kind occurred between two countries from the years 1957 to 1969. The competition was unclear, and the opponents were on two entirely different continents, not something as simplistic as two horses. The United States and the United Soviet States of Russia both set out as arch rivals in the “Space Race,” a quest for dominance beyond the known Planet Earth. Ironically enough, just as communism was spreading to all parts of the world, the United States always sought to squash this form of government, despite somewhat dire consequences. Now, with
Why We Should go to Mars “It was obvious to me that we could never colonize Mars without reusability, any more than America would have been colonized if they had to burn the ships after every trip,”(Dave, 2017). This is what Elon Musk said in an interview in Fortune Magazine on December 9th 2013. The fourth planet in our solar system, Mars, is the closest “Earth-like” planet, Which is why SpaceX, NASA, and many other organizations are trying to make a human trip to Mars possible, as well as learning many things about Mars and Earth at the same time. Mars has a lot of potential to be a habitable planet to continue the human race.
With the advances in technology and humanity’s ever growing need, the concept of space colonization is being discussed more and more as a possible solution to many of the problems that the planet Earth is facing. W. H. Siegfried, in his article “Space Colonization—Benefits for the World,” adopts the viewpoint that space colonization would be beneficial to the human race. Lynda Williams, on the other hand, chooses to view the idea of colonial space as unreasonable at this time in her article, “Irrational Dreams of Space Colonization.” Both of these authors make reasonable arguments, however, Williams provides a much more effective, well organized, and logical point of view.
Who knows what kind of opportunities can come from Mars? We can use the many resources that have already been found on this planet, it could help us in many ways beyond space exploration, and it could even be a new place for us to live. That’s why I believe that the government should fund space exploration to Mars.
...egular people, believing that if someone was to go to Mars they might have been able to survive A variety of organic compounds present may mean a life is probable. Also, if the trip to Mars in 2023 turns out to be a positive one, then it will prove to everyone that in the future more and more people will move to this other planet. A lot of people will find it unnecessary to stay on Earth if they can start a new life somewhere else in the galaxy. Even though the trip will have America paying billions and billions of dollars, it truly is worth it. A life on Mars could mean living to an older age and being healthier. The point of going to the Red Planet is to find out if there is a better life somewhere other than on Earth. Just like NASA astronaut, Buzz Aldrin said, humans will most likely reach Mars and when they do humans will turn into a two-planet species.
Mars is our next best hope in life on another planet. Because of science mankind can grow and harvest plants in the modified mars soil, make a thick warm atmosphere, and drink no frozen mars water. Mankind can grow and flourish more as a species with this idea of colonizing mars. With more scientific advancements we can colonize mars and we will colonize mars.
As a country we need to start investing more money and research into space technology. Programs currently exist for this effort, but the potential for research and progress is limited by a lack of funding; compared to other government funded programs, aerospace funding is pitiful. Continued research in space technology is a necessary step in our growth and development not just as a country but also as entire human race. If we are to achieve this goal, it is necessary to increase funding for space research and technology and consider the possibility of colonizing outer space. If we limit our existence to the planet Earth, and continue to drain the resources on this planet, we will destroy the only home we have.
I think we should continue to use government money to fund NASA and it’s space exploration. In my opinion I think that we should continue to use government money because it is good to find and learn a new thing about ours solar system. Learning new thing can help and change are future in a better way.
With issues like climate change, and population overgrowth, our species faces the risks of major extinction (4). Climate change has been a man-made problem of recent years that threatens our planet. It will take huge mitigations from current and future societies to even come close to reversing climate change. Not only that, but our population has been growing at an extremely alarming speed. At our current rate, our species may not be able to survive for much longer. This is where space exploration comes in. With the recent discovery of water on mars, and the finding of Kepler-78b, it is possible that mankind can prolong our existence. The possibility of interstellar travel seems to be an option or even a necessity if we wish to continue living. Populating another planet could help solve the population crisis and climate change simultaneously. Though, it seems we are not at that point currently, which is exactly why it is imperative that the government increase funding for space exploration. Now, even if inter-galactic habitation isn’t possible, space research helps us protect ourselves from asteroids and other threats, and could also be used to find other planetary resources. Nonetheless, it seems space research is of utmost significance if we want to continue living as a

NAME- Vedika Sakhardande COUNTRY- France COMMITTEE- Futuristic Mars Committee Humans are known for adapting, that is the reason they been able to survive through all the changes earth has faced in the past millennia. But now the human race is on the brink of extinction as the world now is nothing more than a toxic wasteland. Several factors such as pollution, deforestation, ozone depletion, green house effect etc, have piece by piece torn apart mother earth. The atmosphere is ruined, the air fatal to breathe, climate changes have occurred which have changed the fate of mankind, floods have occurred due to melting of polar ice caps, crops have failed and resources have been depleted.
Frank Douglas Professor Chase Hart ENG 121 8 November 2016 Is Mars or Earth’s Moon the place to start space colonization? Colonizing Mars is not just an idea, it’s something we should consider. Stephen Hawking said, “If the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one has gone before.” The survival of our species depends on space colonization. Say for instance, 66 million years ago an asteroid hit Mexico which wiped out the dinosaurs and its not a matter of if it will happen again, it’s a matter of when another global extinction type of asteroid will hit Earth.
Technology Supporting Life on Mars Though the Martian terrain echoes similar features on earth, the overall atmosphere has dramatic differences in which the developed technology plays its role in making this science fiction a reality. The achievement of sustainable life on Mars would be a potential solution towards overpopulation restoring the natural resources, decreased global warming climate changes, reduced habitat loss, etc. Nasa scientist has developed technology that provides the fuel and energy to get to mars and renewable energy sources to power the astronauts need on the red planet, the necessities for living, Technology for Oxygen generation and water recovery, etc. In conclusion with development in technology, it bridges the gap needed
There are many reasons that space exploration should continue. If Earth ever becomes too overpopulated or over polluted, then perhaps people can move to Mars. The world population in 1970 was approximately 4 billion people, and is currently nearly 6 billion people. The world population in 2015 is estimated to be 7 billion people. There is a possibility that there are useful resources on Mars. Scientists have found ice and some other clues, such as craters, volcanoes, and valleys, that have led them to believe that there was once life on Mars, and they believe that sometime in the future, should planet Earth need to be evacuated, humans will be able to live there (Jakosky 142). Many of the rocks on Mars appear to have been formed by gasses, breathable by humans and other creatures. A process called terraforming will allow astronauts to make use of the resources that are on the planet and create an atmosphere that will support life. One method for terraforming is that scientists would convert the gaseous rocks back into gasses, and use gas-eating organisms to eat the gas, which results in the formation of other gasses. If these organisms continue the cycle, then Mars would have a stable atmosphere for humans to live in (Getz 39).
The modern day space environment is no longer a mystery to humans. Yuri Gagarin of Russia was the first person to experience space adventure in 1961. Since then, technological advances have enabled space exploration, with new discoveries being made from time to time. Scientists have significantly contributed to the development of space tourism. Noteworthy inventions by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have transformed human life through increasing accessibility to space. The agency has made it possible for astronauts to go to the moon and also to walk around planet Mars with robotic automobiles. The invention of the tri-axis control design has had a significant influence on modern space explorations, helping astronauts to effectively focus their satellites on the target. This has been important in increasing efficiency and precision in astronomical discoveries (Birchard, 2003).
