Colleges Should Make It Too Easy For Everyone

Colleges are now making it too easy for students showering them with A’s they don’t deserve at all. All students want to do is to figure out the easy way, don’t study and wine all about it when they don’t get the grade that they want without trying or putting any effort. So instead they would encourage the teacher to try to change it. However I’m a student at Camden County College and I have taken some courses, and I don’t think this essay is true at all. Three of my personal experiences to support my side of the argument are trying to get an A in my math class was very difficult for me, demanding to get straight A’s in my first and second semester in college was hard for me, and struggling to get a perfect A in my biology class. Brent Staples writes in order for one way to stanch grade inflation to change is to change the way the grade point average is calculated because if not the more challenging courses wouldn’t get the credit that they fully need to value then to those other courses that are less challenging. He further states that if that doesn’t happen diplomas will become less valuable and useless in the future for all. And he states that the more students eliminate easy classes the more it would help them put more time and effort to a hard challenging class that will result in a fair and better grade than not doing anything and getting showered with an easy A with no effort put into it …show more content…

We had to do so much classwork, homework, quizzes, and test every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday that consist of many numbers with different variables, graphing on a number line, and word problems. The material was hard to understand at times because my professor spoke to fast in a low tone that even the rest of the class that sat in the back row wouldn’t hear her, always showed up to class ten minutes late most of the time and when students had difficulty with a problem she would go over it really fast and go on to the other problem quickly. It got really frustrating when I couldn’t even take good notes in her class. Then she would assign a quiz or test the following day for each section of the chapter, and I would get so anxious because I wasn’t fully prepared for it. When I go and ask my teacher for the grade she said I needed to work harder because I had a 79 in her class. I was quietly angry towards the fact I worked so hard by losing an immense amount of sleep and time that I should’ve used wisely for another class. But at least I wasn’t failing I had a decent grade. Although I didn’t get the A that I wanted in that course, I passed with a B for my final grade. As you can see I worked really hard to receive that grade and didn’t sob or supplicate to the teacher for an A that I know I didn’t deserve to
