One of the biggest problems college and university students today face is the overwhelming costs and fees required just to obtain a degree. It is one of the main factors of dropout and is only going to get expensive from here on out. Tuition for post-secondary education should be offered for free or cheaper because of all the finances and costs it requires. What this will do is, reduces a student’s total finances and debt to the government, provide more opportunities for the less fortunate/low income and be beneficial for society as a whole. If education is a right, why put a price on it?

America remains as one of the only countries to have such a high student debt and outrageous price for education. To put it into perspective, data via the federalreserve.org and WSJ states that according to from reports, it indicates that the total U. S student loan debt is around $1.48 trillion. In countries such as Germany, you can attend college for no cost, while in the U. S, millions of students struggle to pay off their student debt. This raises the question of why does Germany do this? From a survey conducted by CNBC, 70% of students who have pursued a higher education are still paying off their debt and the average amount owed is about $60k. By having fees and tuition reduced will mean millions of students would not have to pay as much pursuing higher education. It would also reduce the number of debt students owes to the government and the percentage of people in debt. Lastly, students will not be as limited on what they can afford to do with their money, like buying more basic necessities for themselves. Overall, while other countries have already reduced prices and costs of education, it is not only beneficial if the U.S were to do so but as well as the students
