Now days in our society, college is no longer an option or a privilege, it’s more of a necessity. We grow up and we are conditioned by our parents and society, to believe that we need a higher education in order to succeed in life. It’s too much money, some may believe it’s a waste of their time, since they think some people live successful lives without attending college. This may be true, but it might only happen to that one lucky individual, not everyone runs with the same luck. To me, going to college and getting a degree is the best opportunity this country can offer you. There is so much you can do with a college degree here in the land of opportunities, you have endless possibilities. I say “the land of opportunities” because I come from a place where, yes, we have free education; but even if you become a doctor, which is probably the most paying job, the highest paying job you might find if you’re lucky is $25 a month. This country where I came from is Cuba. My mom brought me here in order for me to have a “better future.” For this reason, I want to obtain a degree, and do something great with my life. College is the best option because people who receive more education, are more likely to succeed and experience a better future with more open doors and a much better quality of
In recent discussions of education, a controversial issue has been whether or not to go to college after high school. On the one hand, some argue that starting your career after high school is the smart thing to do. On the other hand, however, others argue that the smarter decision would be to continue your schooling by going to college to get a degree. In sum, then, the issue is whether or not college is the right decision for you. My own view is that you should go to college because it helps you build character, start a tradition, and gives you experience.
Whenever someone thinks about plans after college, the first thought that almost always comes to mind, is college. Because of this, the option of a trade school is basically thrown out the window and rarely considered. Even though college is the first option for a reason and is very flexible, most of the time trade schools are better because they do not make students take unneeded classes, do not cost as much, offer hands-on experience as opposed to theory, generally take less time to graduate and focus only on the chosen field. Trade schools have been overlooked as a substitute for college since college became as big as it is now. The benefits of trade schools outweigh the benefits of college in almost every scenario, making trade schools a better option than college.
Not everyone can afford it . Some just don't meet requirements. But now everyone needs to go to college and get a bachelor’s degree or higher . The world is becoming too competitive with everyone seeking a well paying job that even offers health benefits . People can be influenced to go to college because of the money . The world has become of money . Everything is money . We need money to live with no struggle in this Economy . People are also influenced by their dreams , their family , or just fod the experience . Whatever influences a person to go college they need to go
Honestly college at this certain point in time does not seem worth it. Everywhere else in the world college is free but the United States. People would feel more motivated to go to college if it was free. College is the main reason Americans are having to live such a hard lifestyle. My father did not go to college and makes eighteen dollars an hour. On the other hand my aunt did go to college and make twenty-four dollars an hour but is still paying back student loans so after paying all of her stuff back she only makes around fifteen dollars an hour that she gets to bring back and that doesn’t include taxes. That’s the reason college doesn’t seem like a good choice to make in life.
Every person has different life experiences that make their opinions of college and all related topics quite differentiated. In the end, the only right answer is what makes sense for their situation. For some, a college education is practical and it makes sense based on who they are, and what they are aiming to achieve. For others college simply is not in their plan, and we as a society need to realize that that an alternative path is just as useful and significant as a college education. In the end, the path one chooses is only up to the
In both “Stop Scaring students”, by Devorah Lieberman and “College is a Waste of Time and Money”, by Caroline Bird, the authors consider the value of college education. Due to the long-term investment in higher education, college students should be informed about certain aspects of college, concerning whether college is beneficial or non-beneficial. Both oppositions present themselves with a strong argument, but only by looking at their similarities and differences one can uncover which is the best path for college students.
As I thought of this article, many of the issues I have faced as a single Hmong woman in her mid-twenties came to mind. Should I discuss the functional reasons why marriage is so important in the Hmong culture, especially for women? Or do I talk about the lack of eligible, older Hmong men? Better yet, should I complain about the attempts by my relatives to find me a good husband as if it were an unfortunate circumstance that I was single instead of a conscious choice? Thinking it over, though, I decided that all those questions boiled down to one fundamental truth – the Hmong community is still trying to learn how to treat the increasing number of Hmong women who, like me, are making the choice to stay single in their mid-twenties.
Attending college is worth it. Students who get a college education and graduate have many more life changing opportunities than those who don 't; the debates of studying after high school has been ongoing for many years but statistics have proven that majority to all students who go to college achieve more life goals than the average high school graduate. They get more work benefits, life skills, higher paying salaries, etc. There is a downside to everything in life such as debt is to college education. However, the price students pay is so small compared to what the benefits they receive after graduating from college.
In current times, children are told from a young age that college is imperative to getting a good, stable job. However, this is not always true. Therefore, it cannot be determined if college is always the best choice. Because each person is different and learns in a way unique to themselves, it’s up to each individual to decide whether or not they think they need further education based upon their goals, aspirations, and desires in life. There are many benefits to attending a college or university. For example, college graduates earn about $17,500 more each year than high school graduates. College degrees also give you more options. Not only do you have many career options after obtaining your degree, you also have differing options of how you acquire your degree. Colleges and universities have created many diverse programs, offering traditional classes, online classes, semi-online classes, and night and weekend classes. One of the biggest benefits of attending college is the real world experience you gain from being there and living partially on your own. For most people, college is a time where you can gain experience living with new responsibilities that you don’t have at home, without the pressure of having to pay bills on time
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
It is easy to think college is not worth the cost to become better, but getting educated molds a better person, and creates happier people in the future and occasionally they become better in health (Leonhardt 25 ). Becoming a better and happier person is pleasing for everyone. Even former President Obama says “‘Education helps us be better people. It helps us be better citizens. You came to college to learn about the world and to engage with new ideas and to discover the things you're passionate about -- and maybe have a little fun’” (Procon.org). Learning and engaging in everything is a skill everyone should have, so like he said we should go to college to be able to do that. Additionally, education shows people to develop more intellectual skill and become more responsible (Pew Social and Demographic Trends). Thus said, being educated and smart is something everyone can do and college helps with that. Likewise, college can encourage someone to be more educated and happier. Reaching the point of happier and more educated is worth the cost.
In “Should Everyone Go to College?” Isabel Sawhill and Stephanie Owen make a strong valid point on whether or not college is for everyone. For many students ready to leave high school, wondering whether they should attend college is an issue that may lay heavy on one teenagers mind. There are a few factors that could be a difficult decision depending on a person’s goal they are working towards. Some students jump right into the workforce after high school. College is a very important thing. If you go to college you will most likely get better pay in your career. Also, with a college degree, you have more opportunities. I believe that everyone should go to college. If you don’t go to college and just go into some job and that fails then you have no backup plan. A college graduate is more likely to be offered employment than another who didn’t attend college, if you have a college degree you will make more money in your lifetime than someone who doesn’t have a degree, if you are considering having children having a college degree is very beneficial to them, you have a higher chance of having better health yourself, college is very beneficial, and if you go to college you will have a better social
Education is a form of personal freedom. By pursuing a college education, you are setting yourself up to be a successful and independent individual who not only has a degree, but is knowledgeable of the things in this world that matter. Many may argue that you can be more successful and earn a higher salary than an individual with a degree. This statement is very true, however, those individuals who become rich overnight and have these “special gifts” are very far and in between. This is due to the fact that it is very rare to become an overnight success story and although these people may not have went through college, they still worked extremely hard to be where they are today. This goes to show that one of the best things about earning a degree is the fact that it is one of the only things in this world that no one can take from you because you “earned” it. For example: as a recording artist,
