. Why I am interested in this program is both, simple and straight. Ever since I came into my medical college, I have always wanted to become a ‘surgeon’ but undoubtedly my love for it has got stronger over years. In my three years of clinical exposure as an undergraduate and a year of house job, the rotation I loved the most was General Surgery. I am the kind of a person who tries to add value to the lives of others and loves to see people happy and healthy. That is why during my clinical rotation in general surgery, whenever I saw patients who had come in moaning and groaning, leaving after successful surgery fine and satisfied, I loved surgery even more. The job of a surgeon is indeed tough but keeping in mind the outcome makes it totally worth it. General Surgery is challenging. At times there come cases that are complicated yet much interesting so the learning continues and the excitement at work remains. It always gives me goosebumps to see surgeons getting ready for the surgery which the patient on the table is waiting to go through. While the patient himself will be unconscious or at least not able to move after anesthesia is given, he knows he can trust his surgeon. The patient believes that when he himself will have lost his consciousness, this surgeon will be there fighting on his behalf, trying to root out the cause of his pain and sickness and will ultimately relieve him of it. This trust is basically the respect and the honor the surgeon feels is being bestowed upon him and this feeling is more than anything one can ask for, as a doctor. Surgeons have always inspired me and now when I can pursue my dream of becoming one myself, I want to go for the best.
