College is undoubtedly not for everybody. I believe it is a tremendous stepping stone to a better life. I support furthering an education for the sake of its countless benefits. The main reasons for my support include, helping people to realize a more attractive quality of life, self-improvement, also a college graduate will on average earn a higher salary than a person with no secondary education.

Highly educated Americans, on average, live longer than their low-educated counterparts, according to Issaac Sasson at The Department of Social Policy, The London School of Economics and Political Science in London. Using data from the National Vital Statistics System from 1990 to 2010, college-educated students have increased their adult life expectancy. It is speculated that the decline may be related to increases in prescription drug overdoses among young whites, higher rates of smoking among less educated white women, rising obesity, and an increase in the number of the least educated Americans who lack health insurance, according to a report by The New York …show more content…
According to a study by The Lumina Foundation, in 2012, annually, Americans with bachelor’s degrees earned about $32,000 or 134 percent higher than a person with no college experience. Although obtaining a college degree can mean forgone wages during a time when they are also paying tuition, within several years the average bachelor’s degree recipient will have recouped those costs. A university/college education is worth every dollar, but you have to know what you want to get out of it. The most important thing is to find a degree that has a solid return on your college
Onink, Troy. “Federal Reserve: Collage Education Worth $830,000 More Than High School Diploma.” Forbes. Forbes Magazine, 5 May 2014. Web. 28 Sept. 2016. The author of this article is supporting the idea that going to college still pays off. Reports show that on average an extra $830,000 is earned for those that choose to get a college degree over those with a high school diploma. Earning a college degree is still paying off, students will still come out ahead in the long run. We do hear of people that skip college and are extremely successful without a degree, but those chances are very slim. Studies show that low wages are associated with people that only obtain a high school education. The value of a college degree is worth way more than
Many people find the higher education a child receives, the higher the amount of money he or she will earn. Others find it is a waste of time and money to go to college after high school because of all the loans they would have to make up for after college. Many people have different point of views regards to the importance of college. In the articles Is College Worth It? and Why College Isn’t for Everyone, Leonhardt and Matthews have different opinions on the importance of college. Leonhardt argues that college is worth it because one who earns a college degree will be financially stable in the end, while Matthews believes that college isn’t for everyone because of the high-cost teenagers and adults will encounter when it comes to tuitions and fees.
Honestly college at this certain point in time does not seem worth it. Everywhere else in the world college is free but the United States. People would feel more motivated to go to college if it was free. College is the main reason Americans are having to live such a hard lifestyle. My father did not go to college and makes eighteen dollars an hour. On the other hand my aunt did go to college and make twenty-four dollars an hour but is still paying back student loans so after paying all of her stuff back she only makes around fifteen dollars an hour that she gets to bring back and that doesn’t include taxes. That’s the reason college doesn’t seem like a good choice to make in life.
After reading “College Isn’t For Everyone”, I pondered various thoughts. Some of which agree with the author. However, others may disagree with the options stated by the author. For example, I do believe that not all high school students need to attend college. Plenty of options are available such as a trade school or the military. However, I do agree that thinking about college is important. Even if not an opinion that agrees with someone, one should consider all options before making a final choice.
Every person has different life experiences that make their opinions of college and all related topics quite differentiated. In the end, the only right answer is what makes sense for their situation. For some, a college education is practical and it makes sense based on who they are, and what they are aiming to achieve. For others college simply is not in their plan, and we as a society need to realize that that an alternative path is just as useful and significant as a college education. In the end, the path one chooses is only up to the
College is said to be the gateway to a successful career, and I think no different. One of the main reasons I want a college education is so when I approach an employer they see me and think success. Studies have shown that when you have a college degree you are more likely to make an average 20 thousand more a year. If I was awarded this scholarship money it would completely change things for me; I say this because my family has struggled financially and with this I would be saved from crippling debt in years to come. Another reason a college degree is important to me is because I am striving for financial success so that I do not have to struggle like my parents have. In life money is what makes the world go round, and with a college degree I would be placed in a position where I would be able to achieve a level of financial security that would support myself, and hopefully a
Many Americans today tend to believe that a college education is valuable financially, yet some others strongly oppose this, since they look at the college education as being both time and money consuming. A person who successfully completes a college education may obtain one or all of the following; an associate’s degree after two years, a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or a PhD. The institutions that provide the college education can be public or private. Whereas a college education might be seen as being very expensive, it actually increases people’s chances of getting higher paying jobs, instills knowledge into them, and raises their enjoyment levels.
In the article “Stop Scaring Students” Devorah Lieberman expresses her ideas that college education is an important investment that pays off extensively in a long run, despite claims in recent media reports. Lieberman
Attending college is worth it. Students who a college education and graduate have many more life changing opportunities than those who don 't; the debates of studying after high school has been ongoing for countless years, but statistics have proven that majority to all students who go to college achieve more life goals than the average high school graduate. They receive better work benefits, life skills, higher paying salaries, etc. There is a downside to everything in life such as debt is to college education. However, the price students pay is insufficient compared to what the benefits they receive after graduating from college.
Everyone has their own reasons for wanting a college education. Popular reasons for attending college include being able to obtain a better paying job, increase future earning potential, gain training for a specific career, and learning more about a specific topic of interest. Rampell, C. (2015) My reasons are more personal than either of the reasons listed. I do not wish to miss out on significant opportunities that have the potential to enrich my life and future. If there is anything in my life that I would regret it would be not pursuing my college education. As we get older life happens and the list of things we wish we could have done gets longer. Knowing that it is never too late to accomplish my goals is strong motivation to shorten the list of should haves. Obtaining a college education is important to me because I will have a strong sense of accomplishment for setting a goal that is important to me and seeing it through to the end. I also enjoy challenges and feel inspired by the endless possibilities for my future.
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
There is a thin line of people who should and should not attend college. That is a huge decision that could either be the best decision they have ever made or it could be a costly mistake causing thousands of dollars of debt to pile up. There are reasons such as costly tuitions, unnecessary fees, no guarantee of a career, piling of debt, and questionable educational quality, that lead me to believe that college is not worth the money people pay for it.
Now days in our society, college is no longer an option or a privilege, it’s more of a necessity. We grow up and we are conditioned by our parents and society, to believe that we need a higher education in order to succeed in life. Getting a college degree is the right decision for me because that is my aspiration. I want to get a degree in MBA Pharmaceutical Management, and get a great job and live a comfortable and amazing life. In my opinion, going to college and getting a degree is the best choice someone can make, because people who receive more education, are more likely to succeed, and experience a better future and much better quality of life. College is the best choice because college education could raise the economic success of someone’s life in the future. College is also the best choice because you’ll have more job opportunities out
It is easy to think college is not worth the cost to become better, but getting educated molds a better person, and creates happier people in the future and occasionally they become better in health (Leonhardt 25 ). Becoming a better and happier person is pleasing for everyone. Even former President Obama says “‘Education helps us be better people. It helps us be better citizens. You came to college to learn about the world and to engage with new ideas and to discover the things you're passionate about -- and maybe have a little fun’” (Procon.org). Learning and engaging in everything is a skill everyone should have, so like he said we should go to college to be able to do that. Additionally, education shows people to develop more intellectual skill and become more responsible (Pew Social and Demographic Trends). Thus said, being educated and smart is something everyone can do and college helps with that. Likewise, college can encourage someone to be more educated and happier. Reaching the point of happier and more educated is worth the cost.
College is a very important thing. If you go to college you will most likely get better pay in your career. Also, with a college degree, you have more opportunities. I believe that everyone should go to college. If you don’t go to college and just go into some job and that fails then you have no backup plan. A college graduate is more likely to be offered employment than another who didn’t attend college, if you have a college degree you will make more money in your lifetime than someone who doesn’t have a degree, if you are considering having children having a college degree is very beneficial to them, you have a higher chance of having better health yourself, college is very beneficial, and if you go to college you will have a better social
