High school graduates earn an average of almost $32,000 per year. Bachelor’s graduates earn an average of just over $54,000 a year. Those with a higher level degree (master’s, doctorate or professional) average nearly $78,000 per year. This can be a significant salary gap over the course of one’s life. Earnings potential varies depending on what field you work in. With the career I am in now, not being a college graduate, my income is less than $20,000 a year. Earning college degree plays a big part influencing on the well-being of families as well, especially their children. Not only are children of parents with a college education better off socially and economically, but studies have shown that children in households where one or both parents have a college degree are themselves more likely to earn a college degree.
