In my life, I had not had the chance to be a part of something that influenced me much, until I joined football my freshman year in high school. Joining football was perhaps the most devoted and wisest thing that I did because shortly after joining I began to see changes for the better, and from then I saw the person that I wanted to be in the future. In other words, it shaped the person that I am today and will be for the rest of my life. Not only did the sport influence me but it also equipped me with a new mindset that affects me today in my decision making skills, time management and many other beneficial life virtues. I believe that these virtues will bring me success in the nearest future because I feel confident about myself and I feel more in control in my life through my actions, all thanks to simply joining what seemed to be a “regular” extracurricular.
College is a time for young people to develop and grow not only in their education, but social aspects as well. One of the biggest social scenes found around college campuses are athletic events, but where would these college sports be without their dedicated athletes? When I was in middle school I was considered weak, soft, and a person who needed attention. They would say these things despite my athleticism and determination to do the best in whatever I’d do. When I realized the only way to prove them wrong i turned to my athleticism and the only thing keeping me sane was my passion for poetry. I did this all in the hopes of making it into college.
It runs through my veins and I cannot live without it. For a long time I did not know who I was but one day, through a basketball camp, a coach helped me realize what my identity was. He helped me figure out that i am a child of God. All my uncles played basketball along with both of my Grandfathers. For a long time I thought that basketball had to be the only thing to define me but, it does not.

A defining moment in my life was when I decided that I wanted to be an athletic trainer when I grow up. I knew I wanted to be athletic trainer because I want to stay in the athletic field once I finish my athletic career. For me there is no better job than one that I can interact with athletes on a daily basis and help them prevent injuries. Knowing my career path early helped me lay out my academic goals, this also brought up some challenges.
My natural highs are sports, music, and spending time with my family. I play soccer and run cross country and track, and these sports help push me to work harder, mentally and physically. All sports are difficult and very competitive, but when you practice and train with determination it will prepare you for your games or races. Sports also surrounds you with many supportive people. You will have coaches that will teach you ways on how to become a better athlete and teammates that will urge you with encouragement. My cross country coach told me that long distance running requires a lot of mental toughness, and when your body is giving up, your brain needs to remind yourself that you need to finish your race. This taught me to never finish half-way
Once there was a little boy who loved to play sports, although he was never naturally talented at them. He was never the fastest, never the strongest, and most definitely never the most coordinated. He liked to play all sorts of sports; basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and track. But one sport stood above all, and that was basketball. Which was ironic because that was probably the sport he was least naturally talented in. That little boy was me.
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took

I do not like to play basketball. It was because, honestly, I am not a good baseball player. Sometimes, I feel that I want to be a superman who can play every sport like a popular professional player. Among the sports I like, especially, basketball is popular to students in a university.
