The person that I would define myself to be would be a person who shows an unselfish concern for the benefit of others and selflessness. I will give up my time to help others whether it comes to working at a banquet or mowing yards for people who too ill to do it themselves. I am not the type of selfish person to be exclusive to others when my friends are not treating my other friends fairly. I will try to prove others wrong in incidents when people say that I cannot achieve a certain task that I know I am capable of, such as running a half marathon. Even though I am the type of person who is unselfish and I will be self-centered in times of incidents when it comes to protecting myself from bullying or when people tell me I am unable to accomplish …show more content…
Michael Jordan failed to make the varsity team for basketball and that did not stop him. He is now the greatest if not one of the greatest basketball players ever to play the game. President Nido Quebien came to the United States with little knowledge of English and only fifty dollars in his pocket. He has now been the recipient of The Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which only four United States Presidents have earned. I am not influenced by most of the people that are closest to me because they do not believe that it is possible for me to reach some of the goals and dreams that I have. The people that tell me that I cannot do something have already given up on their dreams and are just telling others that they cannot do …show more content…
I have been bullied in the past and I understand what it feels like to be bullied. It feels like the victim is being isolated from others and no one is stepping in including teachers to stop the bully from harassing the victim. Even though I am not a selfish person I will be selfish and be mean if it is morally right to stand up for myself and to defend myself from the person that is bullying me. I have talked behind peoples back multiple occasions when they are talking behind by back also because of a fight that has occurred between
President Kennedy very famous quote “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” was definitely fulfilled by himself actually. The things JFK did for this nation in his short term will forever be remembered in history. He took technology to a whole nother level by having a vision of taking a man off this planet & his putting him on the moon literally. His involvement with the civil rights movement changed this nation forever. From being a country that based your rights on what color you are to where we are now is remarkable. Now the United States is a country that many other nations look up to & actually base their rights & laws off of. Just like we used England 's Bill of rights to set our laws now other country are using are`s to set their laws & rights.
Another person that has influenced me is an entrepreneur and retired professional Hall of Fame basketball player Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan is not only a retired professional basketball player that went to the University of North Carolina but he also hosted a numerous of basketball camps to give children the opportunity to live out their dreams. Mr. Jordan stated. “If you 're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I 've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don 't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don 't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it” (“Quotes by Michael Jordan”). Ten years ago I came across a rerun of a Michael Jordan press conference telling the world that he is retiring from the NBA because his father was murdered and he had no longer love the game of basketball. I had always found Mr. Jordan basketball skills to be remarkable and had been very interested and why people praise him highly. I found Michael Jordan and his documentaries to be very enlightening and I love to watch videos of him play basketball because I wanted to be like him. I notice that he loves playing basketball because his documentary mentions he hates losing. Not only did Michael Jordan seem passionate about basketball, but he also talked about more than just basketball and hoping to educate younger people that he has dealt with adversity to get to the NBA. When he said that he did not love basketball
The National Educational Association defines bullying as “systematically and chronically inflicting physical hurt and/or psychological distress on another” by physical, verbal or social means. It happens repeatedly and there is a clear imbalance of power between the bully and the victim, meaning the victim may be smaller, younger, or unable to cope socially. http://www.nea.org/home/53359.htm Learn how to protect yourself from bullies by confiding in someone, speaking out, and
I don’t really understand what it means to be me. I know who I am but it’s hard to just define yourself as one specific genre of person. What I have realized growing up is that I have never been given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to first impressions, because everyone has already made their own assumptions. What it means to be me is to be me is be judged as a druggie, be treated like a Cinderella, and someone who never lets it get to them through it all.
In terms of my personal identity, I would say that based on my experiences throughout my life, I considered myself to be hard working, especially when it comes to pursuing my goals; honest; generous, I like taking
I consider myself to have great character, I embrace my culture and celebrate the differences within everyone that ironically brings us closer. I have a positive attitude that comes in handy when communicating with others. I believe in the idea that each person shapes their own destiny. This means that I recognize the importance in always doing my best, so that I may shape my life into being what I want it to be.
When someone breaks you down over time, telling you you are worthless, pathetic, stupid, ugly, retarded, fat, loser, ect; one may start to think that all this is true. Demeanor changes, the child starts to feel low, and thinks they aren 't good enough. I should know, being bullied wasn 't fun. Being ridiculed for things on a daily basis. Being called names, being hit, degraded is never easy. I started feeling down, I had major depression and anxiety issues. I suffered from migraines for 10-12 hours a day and awful stomach pains every single day for almost two years. My grades started to suffer because I couldn 't concentrate, I was becoming less social and sitting at home more watching the television instead of going outside and having fun. Why? Because I was afraid someone was going to say something to bring me down; and instead of letting them have that chance even more then they already did I decided to slowly decline my way of life. Telling someone that you are bullied isn 't easy; at least for me it wasn 't. You feel so pathetic that you allow someone to treat you so poorly for no good reason. Being bullied ISN 'T an option. You don 't choose if you are bullied or not, and frankly I didn 't choose to be hated for no reason. These other kids in the world didn 't choose to be bullied either and their bully shouldn 't just be treated with a slap on the
Bullying is a horrible trait to have. There are many reasons why kids bully other children. In my opinion, there is never a good reason to bully. I believe if we come together as a nation, and educate our younger generation on how to avoid becoming a bully, and then the issue will slowly resolve on its
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get a life." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him.
What defines me. Thats a hard question and I think it's supposed to be hard for a reason because if it was easy then everybody would know who they are without having the challenge or taking the yellow brick road to find their inner soul or the road supposed called “life.” It's supposed to be a challenge it's not supposed to be as easy as stepping over the bars it's supposed to be a struggle. When it's hard for u to climb your way out of life when it's a challenge that's when it's all fun and worth the pain because in the end you will find who you really are.
I like to think for the most part that, I am a person that gets along with everyone. I am a positive person and open to ideas. Negativity doesn't play a role in my life because I believe that if one door closes another one tends to open. In fact, some of the character traits that can define me as a person are: optimistic, determined, hardworking, responsible, stubborn, and anxious. My friends, for example, would say I'm too kind, generous and the opposite of self-serve.
Bullying is a very immoral behavior which leads to emotional and self-esteem issues to the target and in extreme or persistent cases it has been found to lead to suicide. The bullies should be well punished and counseled to stop the behavior.
It only takes one bad experience to change your opinion on something. Imagine if you went through this same bad experience for months, or better yet years. Your whole personality, how you view yourself, and others changes drastically. This is what it feels like to be bullied. Bullying is a serious issue in America, especially among children and young adults. From kindergarten all the way up until my sophomore year of high school, I was a victim of bullying. Being bullied changed how I viewed myself and others, what my values and morals were, and it shaped me into the person I am today.
Have you ever been personally bullied by another person? Maybe you have not had your head forced into a locker, but verbally hurt? Bullying today can be quite serious. Bullying is when someone tries to hurt another person by hitting them or by simply hurting them with their words. Bullying is something that can have a huge impact on its victims. It might be something that lasts throughout their lives, or something that might cause them to take their lives. Bullies make small groups so that they can pick on other students who are small, fragile, and who can not defend themselves. Picking on someone should not be accepted because it can affect a person's well being in a drastic way. Bullying is believed to be a normal part of school life. However, when people begin to have that mentality they forget that bullying is psychologically and physically harmful to both the victim and the bully.
Bullying of students in school is an abuse that affects and produces a number of negative experiences on the victim. It is proven that those students who bully do so merely because they see themselves superior than those being bullied. They use this as a tactic to make juniors fear them and show them that they are not equal in any way. Some will even bully as a revenge of the bullying they suffered in the past. I have been bullied before and I know some of the effects it could have on a person. Bullying is a serious cause of many issues and has effects that may be long lasting.
