Recommended: Choice of career
Ever since I started my senior year, all people have wanted to talk about was where I was going to college and what career I would pursue once I received my degree. It was not always an easy question to answer, and while not all of my future is certain, I, now, have a much better idea of what I want and do not want for my future self. In the fall of 2017 I will begin my first semester of higher education, at the University of Northern Iowa, with a declared major in psychology. As for what comes after receiving my degree, I am not totally sure. I have always been interested in criminal profiling, but counseling and psychiatry are also possibilities. Nevertheless, throughout the course of my high school career, here at Hudson, I have attained …show more content…
The specific learner performance goals I mentioned will greatly aid me in both my short term, and long term goals. First, being a quality producer is something that is vital in earning any sort of degree, which I plan to do, and definitely in a work place, your livelihood relies on your ability to produce work that is of high quality. This learner performance goal is necessary for me to have in order to meet all of my goals. Secondly, being an effective communicator is important to all aspects of life. Effectively communicating will help me in college to have well written papers, meet new people, and confront any problem in a constructive way. This learner performance goal will also help me greatly in my career field. As any sort of psychologist you must be able to communicate effectively in order to help your clients. Lastly, being an internal assets builder is something that makes you a well rounded person in general. In college this LPG will help me with staying committed to my education and maintaining both a positive identity and values. It will help me with my long term goals as well. As a psychologist, it is important to be deeply committed and to have a solid sense of self, both are key elements of being an internal assets builder. All in all, this school and these learner performance goals have done a great deal for me, by helping to shape me into who I am
As I reflect on my extracurricular and academic activities, I see the essence of my future. I want to attend a great university (like the University of Texas); I want to work hard to become a nurse—a person who has devoted his or herself to caring for the well-being of others.
Given away by my name, I am not an American; I was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam - a dynamic city with over nine million people squeezed into roughly the size of south Bay Area. It was towards the end of my third year of high school that my family immigrated to the U.S. Leaving my hometown behind, at seventeen, I started a new chapter of my life.
The Ultimate Career Goal: I am extremely passionate about marine and wildlife ecosystems and all their inhabitants and have a desire to work in a career that allows me to work closely within these ecosystems as well as allowing myself to educate those that surround me about the importance of science. My ultimate career goal is to work as a laboratory and field technician for a reputable company or organisation.
In my head I think I have gone over tons of different degrees and career ideas and none of them seemed to really jump out at me. That was until I found Psychology it was very interesting to me and I found that I could be passionate about it. A Psychologist is a professional who studies behaviors and mental issues in order to help them cope with life. A Psychologist tries and diagnoses people who people might call crazy and in other words are unable to cope with day to day life. There are many types of Psychologist and one of them is someone who studies criminals and their behavior to get a better idea of how or why they committed a crime. They also make guesses based on the evidence at hand so they can try and recreate how the criminal committed
Second, I want to be more engaged in class. I need to be sure that I am up to date for all assignments that are due, motivated myself to do well in classes and hope to achieve a passing grade. By being involving myself with asking for help from professors, seeking out for a tutor and possibility managing my time better. This is a learning goal because I often struggled with being unaware of how I am going to do in class and this can help me understand what to do to be successful in college. I will know if I achieved this goal by the grades I will
One goal is I want to see what I am capable of. I have a terrible habit where I doubt myself, and that doubt sometimes leads me missing out on life changing opportunities. There’s a saying that goes, “Doubt kills more dreams than future ever will” which really emphasizes how doubt is what makes us runs away from our hopes, goals, and dreams. It is something that makes us terribly afraid to try something new or make an effort with things. However, I truly want to not run away from that doubt, but to be able to overcome it. Even though I may be doubtful at times, I am full of determination to pursue excellence and strive to do my best in everything. For example, I want to see how great I can make my education be in high school. I have a strong connection and commitment when it comes to learning because it’s always a joy and experience when it comes to knowing new things. I believe that knowledge is one great element in life where it leads to the highest success, and it can only be acquired one way through diligence and effort. When it comes to my education, I make sure to not take it for granted and to never give up, even if it may feel brutal at times. In my opinion, I care what I learn and put towards my education rather than the grade given since with all the effort and work I put towards to what I am told, the grade follows. However, that does not mean that I am careless about my grades. I greatly cherish school and can be an example towards others at Rocky Mountain when it comes to setting academic goals and aspiring all the knowledge I want in my education. I want to influence others to make an effort when it comes to their education and see what they’re capable of. That’s why whenever I look at teachers, I see that they are sharing the gift of new traits for our education, for our futures in life. When looking at those apart of the National Honor Society, I noticed that they have
One important aspect to make students’ learning valuable is to focus the planning in setting objectives in terms of desired outcomes (knowledge skills, attitudes, values) that we want our students to develop. By developing clear objectives, students feel that there is a reason for learning. Also, it is important to provide feedback, because it helps students improve their goals’ achievement and solidify their understanding.
As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. At UWEC, I would like to get involved in anything musical, along with various clubs and Greek life. Similarly, another goal of mine is to have a job on campus. Having a job will not only help me make some
I want to have goals so I have to improve in my Long Range Goals by setting both academic and personal goals. I also want to study and have knowledge of what career/path that I can pursue in college. I also want to be aware of the steps needed in order to achieve my goals and I will apply it by participating in activities that are related to my career goal. Then I can also improve the skill of Realistic Self-Appraisal by being aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I will also be realistic on what I want to do and what I can say/learned, which will determine if I have met my goals or
I have always felt like I might want to be a counselor one day, but since I’m not clear about that, I’m going to major in something that will open many doors for that area in the future. I also have a heart for victims
Forensic Psychology The field I plan on going into is forensic psychology, the study of the human mind mixed with criminal justice. I will be interviewing suspects and determine if they committed the crime, if they are found guilty I will figure out the motivation behind it. I will enter the criminal’s mind and grasp more on the case and hopefully give more insight to officers about what is happening and or what did happen.
I have never been quite sure what I wanted to do as an adult. I began this journey with obtaining an A.A. in Criminal Justice. This was an area that I very much enjoyed however, there were limited opportunities in my area to use that degree. I went on to decide to obtain my bachelor’s degree and determined that I would get this in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I learned during this process that I very much liked these subjects and was very happy with my choice.
All through my sophomore to senior year of high school I knew that was what I wanted to do. Everything about psychology just intrigues my mind. I specifically would love to work with children, like I said I love them. Part of my goal is to become child and adolescent psychiatrist. To get there I will of course study hard in my major and strive to do the best I can. I will take lessons on how to interview professionally. It might be a difficult path and take a while to get there but I know it will be totally worth it in the end and I feel like that is where God is leading to be. I really believe that I am meant to help people and that is what I plan to do. I just really want to make an impact on a child’s life and be someone that they can talk to and feel comfortable with, because a lot of children do not get to experience that kind of safe place. So I would say that my professional goal is to help children more than anything else. But, if something changes about what I want to do with my life I will be very open to
Life contains an unlimited amount of life lessons; my main life lesson has inspired me to never give up on myself or my goals. Through my life experiences I have learned that there is no such thing as failure. I am certain with myself that I can find success through hard work and dedication. My career aspiration is to help others as a healthcare professional. More specifically, I have a dream of pursuing a career in physical therapy. Nothing gives me more self-satisfaction than to see that I am able to help people self-improve. Therefore, I have committed to studying and preparing myself for graduate school. I am currently an Undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida, destined to graduate in the Fall of 2017. There are multiple Undergraduate degree paths I can take to prepare myself for grad-school; however, I chose a path that can help me develop skills to provide the best possible service for my future patients. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences
Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to help people. Doing whatever I can for others has always been something that is important to me. My youngest sister was born with a kidney disease so we spent a lot of time at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. I remember thinking about what I wanted my future job to be when I was in the eighth grade, I always thought I wanted to be a pediatric nurse. I now know that biology and needles are not really things I am interested in or want to be around. From spending time at the Children’s Hospital I realized what my passion was, being around kids. Since I knew I probably would not be a nurse, I started thinking of other occupations that involved kids. I know from experience that I love helping and watching kids. My junior and senior year of high school, I was the Aftercare Assistant at my school. Having that job showed me how much I love being around children and that I could see myself wanting to somehow make that a career for myself. From that I thought of a career that I think would be perfect for me, which is a preschool and childcare
