The summer after sixth grade my mother forced me to participate in a Vex robotics class through College of the Desert even with my strong protests. A few hours in I felt as if what I was doing just clicked. And I could visualize in my mind what I wanted to create before creating the robot in mind. My first robot I created without instructions was a two wheeler robot and much to my surprise the instructor informed me that I was his first student to construct a
As I reflect on my extracurricular and academic activities, I see the essence of my future. I want to attend a great university (like the University of Texas); I want to work hard to become a nurse—a person who has devoted his or herself to caring for the well-being of others.
Given away by my name, I am not an American; I was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam - a dynamic city with over nine million people squeezed into roughly the size of south Bay Area. It was towards the end of my third year of high school that my family immigrated to the U.S. Leaving my hometown behind, at seventeen, I started a new chapter of my life.

Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
My goals in college are to get involved with student government, play lacrosse graduate in the top of my class all my life of being in school I was always active not just a regular student. Whether it was SGA or sports or volunteer work I was a part of it; all years of school levels I have graduated with honors and I do not want to see anything different now while I am in college. As we all know college is not a walk in the park and I am well aware of that. I have to really be on my game to accomplish my goal of graduating with honors. I am already on the way of my goal, I have already completed 3 business courses and am now on the process of taking one now. I have taken business law, introduction of business, and industrial business; I did not take them at Towson however they still transferred over as business courses.
First off, I want to graduate from college and do it well. I want to be able to do things on the weekends and not worry about having to make things up or anything like that. I am hoping for a scholarship in football, in my opinion that would be a great start for me in college. Then after college maybe pursue that as a career. If that doesn't work out for me then I want to look into athletic training or physical therapy. If those things don't interest me or I don't get into it I am then looking into law. That will take much more time and patience, but it's gonna be the rest of my life.
For my long term goal, in ten years I see myself studying or becoming a doctor. I will diagnose and treat diseases and conditions, I will also provide treatments in many forms such as medicine, procedures, surgery, or therapy. Choosing this goal was important to me because it provides satisfaction when you know that you are helping someone else feel better. Most people think being a doctor or nurse is all about the money, but honestly all that matters to me is helping people feel good. This goal relates to school because in science and health, you learn about the different body parts and systems which will help me when I study to be a doctor.
I intend to at least get honor roll both semesters and hopefully get straight A’s in on my progress reports. Along the way, I would volunteer as an animal activist and help fight for animal cruelty. After my teaching career is done, I would love to own a cat café at Ventura.
The most important goal I currently have is to go to school and find a career that will enrich my life. For me, this is a now or never situation. I wasn’t happy in the path I was on, and I finally took the leap to make a change. In my opinion, networking is a field that is only going to grow. I have selected this as a goal because it is important for me to become a person who fulfills their dreams, and I’m proud that I have done this on my own. My next long-term goal is to buy a home of my own. I recall how fulfilled my mother felt when she bought her first home, and she cried tears of joy. At a very early age I have wanted to have things of my own, from toys to my own vehicle. I began working in high school because I knew in order to have things I had to work for them. For me, these two goals go hand in hand, and in order to have my very own home, I have to succeed in school to get there. In today’s world you almost have to have a degree to find a successful job.
My third and final source talks about setting goals (Thedford 2004). A goal should be specific and realistic to what exactly it is you want to achieve. What is my personal purpose? Is a question that I have never thought to ask myself until recently. Then when I started learning more about a personal purpose I started wondering if I have one and what it was. I never thought of myself has having a real purpose until a watched an interview Will Smith had did and he had said “When your life means something to someone other than yourself than you have a purpose.” That is when I realized that I have a purpose. My purpose is that I am the hug that let others know it is going to be ok. My personal goals is to be genuinely happy with myself and life and to make my parents proud, my career goal is to own my own business and being successful at doing so, finally, my educational goal is to get my bachelors degree and grauate with honors and even moving on to getting my masters. Having goals is important to me because I know that while I am in the process of accomplishing them I will have something great to look forward to in the end.
