People will face challenges everyday in their lives. For some these challenges may be minor and for others they may be major. The way they handle those challenges can and may impact their lives forever. I have come to realize that there is one thing in our lives that everybody can rely on to help them get through these challenges and that is optimism! I know this because it has worked for me! The area in my life where optimism has helped me the most has been in my athletic career while participating in Cross Country
Cross country is a mental sport. I have been told by my coaches that if you want to win a race, you must win it mentally. This is because if you don't believe you can do something, it is most likely not going to happen! This is

Their encouragement helped me to push through many painful and rough practices. I always tried to give them the same encouragement whenever I could. Keeping my teammates and myself mentally positive made some of the most brutal workouts a lot more enjoyable! The optimism that surrounded me at our practices helped me to reach new goals as a runner that I know I definitely could not have reached on my own. Our team's' optimism also allowed us to able to be competitive even though we were a very small team. Many of our competing teams had many more team members, but they were not as supportive of their teammates. Many of these team's individual goals far superseded their team goals. Our Cross Country team always worked as a cohesive team that would run together as a tight pack. We would strategize which of the competing runners we would pass along the course. We also made sure no one ever got discouraged and always gave each other words of encouragement to keep us motivated. These single words of encouragement have a huge impact when running in Completions. During that final stretch of the run, as you are spent and exhausted, just one single encouraging word can give you all the energy you need to pass your competitors at the finish
Adversities are often given a negative connotation and view, as most consider them to be hurdles which impede progress. Nevertheless when taken in and accepted under a positive light, adversities can serve as stepping stones through which an individual can better their character. In the face of looming obstacles individuals who persevere come out of the situation as stronger, determined, and more hopeful for the future.
It is true that obstacles in life are uncomfortable and unsupportable experiences, but if we would learn to look at the bright sides of problems, keep seeking opportunities, manage situations and learn from failures then the difficulties that we face in our life would turn out for the better not only in the present but also in the
The obstacles which we must face are not there to hinder our daily life. They are there to provide countless opportunities to obtain greater success. In order to be successful we must look at every obstacle as a new opportunity.
Optimism was attractive to many because it answered a profound philosophical question that mankind had been grappling with since the beginning of faith: if God is omnipotent and benevolent, then why is there so much evil in the world? Optimism provides an easy way out of this philosophical dilemma: God has made everything for the best, and even though one might experience personal misfortune, God (via your misfortune) is still helping the greater good.
There are many people in today’s society who undergo many horrible experiences and are able to overcome the hard trials that are placed in front of them in order to become successful in life. While some individuals suggest that these individuals will struggle throughout life and others saying that they just need a few words of encouragement in order to progress in life. Regardless of one’s opinion, it is very important to remember that no one person has to go through anything alone and that help and encouragement will always be available for those who seek it.
Theses quotes might be said once or many times in one’s teen life. Complaining about parents is one of the conversation topics among the peers. Sometimes teens feel like adults do not aware of their opinions anymore. Moreover, arguments among the family could ruin the relationship if members do not know how to deal with it. I learned how to solve problems through these conflicts and became more mature.
Playing football has given me the opportunity to meet new people and make new friendships that will last a lifetime. Those friendships are made in the hot summer workouts, when everyone is tired, hot, and thinking about giving up, teammates are right by their side motivating them. After a brutal beginning of the season players are scraped and bruised and during mid-season practices, some players may think that the team doesn’t have any chance at being in the playoffs. Teammates unite together and remind each other that if everyone works together, everything will fall into place. A good team involves also being in good physical shape. Players are banged up and have little annoying pains, but that doesn’t stop a good team so the conditioning doesn’t stop. Everyone has to do it, but being on a team that helps motivate each other, it helps the pain feel more tolerable. In any sport you will be thrown into rigorous situations and being with your teammates and sticking together through it all will not only make the team better, it also will help bring you closer to your
In all parts of life there are periods of adversity that we must face, the real challenge however, is what and how we gain from conquering those trials. There have been many times that I have been faced with adversity, it has happened in all aspects of my life at one time or another. Whether it is dealing with the ups and downs of hockey or balancing the pressure that comes with an elite hockey schedule and high school, there are always obstacles. Some of these challenges can bring about positive effects that influence the path of one’s life. In one such experience of mine, the amount of adversity was not near as great as the positive out come that came from my experience.
Some life lessons are better to be learned at an early stage at life and for my situation it’s good that I did. I learned that one should never depend on others when it comes to doing your own work. You have to work hard to get what you want, you can’t just wait for others to do it for you. This is one of the toughest lessons I learned and it’s good that I learned it. Although, it was tough for me the way I learned it.
My final reason to show that optimism helps us make a bad situation better by looking on the bright side is, when Andrew and his dad get breakfast, they buy donuts and milk. Andrew get a carton of juice sometimes. This is optimism because Andrew isn't complaining that he doesn’t get a carton of juice every day. He is still thankful that he gets breakfast. Therefore, Andrew is optimistic about his breakfast.
Firstly, people who show an optimism bias feel more happy and satisfied with their life. These people are also more in control of and engaged in their life’s goal, they will not just think about happy thoughts and wait for life to pass, instead they will be engaged in a meaningful life and do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals. They are also less likely to give up on a difficult situation and will cope with it. These are people who will not wait for the rain to pass but who learn to dance in the rain in order to fulfil their life’s goal. Unrealistic optimism shows an increased well-being and happiness. With this increased well-being, unrealistically optimistic people are also more able to pick themselves up after a major life
This will prove to be especially important as I move on to college, and as I embark on my journey of being a student athlete at the University of Nevada Reno. I know that being a student athlete will be challenging in the sense that I will have so many obligations and so little time; however, this mentality will further help me achieve my goals both athletically and academically, as I refuse to settle for anything less that what I am capable of achieving. I know that at times it will be tough, but I also know that quitting is not an option. If I were to stop in the middle of a race right when it got tough, I would never be able to experience the triumph of finishing. In the end, the glory of the fight is one of the most rewarding elements of
In conclusion, we learn in life we have to face these challenges in each accomplishment to give us a sense of unity through our family members. In life, we have to go through these challenges everyday and some days it will be easy and some days it will not but as long as we have our friends, family and friends to point us to the right direction we can achieve basically anything we want too. Life there will be things that will hurt us or we can't be able to due, but we will soon overcome all these challenges in life and it will open a new doors for us.
Another concept I have learned from my participation in running is teamwork. No matter how hard we try, we cannot live our lives without others' help or without helping others. We must work together to succeed on the road ahead. This is the essence of teamwork. I know that even my personal success in cross-country and track is not solely mine. I know that my three district titles, one in cross country and two in track, in the 800 meter and 1600 meter runs, could not have been accomplished without my team's unequivocal support and for that, I thank them.
Optimism is merely the state of mind that an individual will just lean towards “expecting the best possible outcome or dwell on the most hopeful aspects of a situation.” (free dictionary.com) The promotion of positive thinking is everywhere and it has grown over the last few decades. “Is your glass half full or half empty” is a very common saying that many have used to describe others or oneself as an optimist or a
