Every person has something that makes them unique, something that defines them. I have many talents such as my athletic ability in track and field, but what defines me most is my artistic talents. Drawing has been my favorite hobby since elementary school. I took art classes for six years and continued to develop skill as I grew to love art. There were endless nights that I would just spend all my free time tied up in my room drawing any and everything. There are many of my drawings and my artwork on my walls, and all over the house. In a way, my artistic talent influences a lot of aspects of my life. My artistic ability persuaded me to chose civil engineering as the major I want to pursue in college, as well as in the future. I can use my talents to leap into new creative ideas. Art is the very basis of engineering and design and it serves as my pedestal for inspiration. I have always been a creative child ever since I was little.
In addition to my drawing abilities, I also loved to create and build everything. It is safe to say that my Legos was my favorite toys as a child because it allowed me to be inventive and design anything that I wanted to. Also using my creativity, I would always try to make things from scratch, creating cards with available materials, and making things out of my shoes boxes because I thought it was fun. Even when my mother would bring things home like TV stands and dressers, I would always beg to assemble them myself because I just love to build things and put them together. I like to be spontaneous and engage myself in hands-on activities that require creativity. It has made me realize that my creativity was a gift given to me and it is going to take me far in life. It inspired me to want to go into the engineering field because engineers work in a variety of fields to analyze, develop and evaluate large-scale, complex systems. They can improve and maintain current systems or create brand new projects. Engineers design and draft blueprints, visit systems in the field and manage projects, and my creativity and skill would be a perfect fit for this field. When I was in the ninth grade I decided to join the Engineering Academy at Elkins High School and I've been in the academy ever since. The courses we took allowed me to push creativity to its limits with the projects we did. I did many projects such as
constructing prototype houses from balsa wood, creating propelled boats from cardboard, and building robotic pieces from VEX kits. Everything I do most likely has to have a little taste of my artistic ability added to it. My artistic ability is what sets me apart from others, it makes me unique. The artistic ways that I have obtained is what defines me as well as inspires me to do the great things I do and plan to do in the future. I want to be able to create and design things that change the world for the better. Without this talent, it is uncertain what type of person I would be or even which career path I would have chosen. At some point in time I wanted to be a pharmacist because I was unsure of what my true talent was, but I realized that art is my true talent. My artsy creativity is what has shaped me and my way of thinking. I do not think I would be complete without this asset, which is why my artistic competence is the one thing that defines me most.
Although I am a fairly well-rounded student outside of school, I focus on the passions I am adept at: art and music. Creativity and thinking outside the box are skills that I have possessed and have developed over the years. It gives me great joy when I use my artistic and musical talents for the benefit of others, such as playing the piano and violin at a dinner honoring senior citizens or drawing pictures for young children at a Bible camp. Their smiles in appreciation of my service are priceless. My drive for excellence in my passions show that I give one hundred percent in all that I
In both sports and academics, coaches and teachers commend me for my relentless effort and drive. However, I carry this effort in everything that I do. I have picked up many skills and talents through high school that may seem miniscule to others, but they required dedication and practice. I have taught myself to play the piano, and I also have learned origami and skateboarding. I even taught myself to juggle, and practiced enough until I was good enough to give lessons to others. Most would consider these hobbies, but I consider them passions. When I put my mind to goals or tasks, I strive to be the best. For example, when I began skateboarding, I had trouble learning how to kickflip. However, I practiced for hours alone in the garage, repeatedly listening to the loud crash of the skateboard hitting the concrete floor. I even rolled my ankle on two separate occasions, but these setbacks did not hold me down. I kept trying, until after a month, I finally landed a kickflip. I bring this persistence to whatever I put my mind to, and I know that I can use my drive to learn and succeed in engineering at the University of
Many of my friends pick their careers based on money and trade skills that they have. I am proficient in art and design, but didn’t feel like that was what I wanted to do for my career. Your career shapes a huge portion of your life. It is what you do every day, for a large portion of your life. It is what I have prepared for the past 12 or so years of my life. It is way more than just money or a skill. I wanted to do something unique, something interesting, something that would inspire me to be a better human, something that would make me feel, something that is challenging, something that helped others, and above all, something that was rewarding and made me feel fulfilled.
From an early age I have always had a strong interest in art, and have been involved with it in some form all through my life. In year nine I realized that it was something that I might like to pursue as a career, I started taking it more seriously. The Chase's art department encouraged me very well and helped me develop my art skills.
Throughout my life, I have loved to draw. Due to my love of drawing, I decided to take a career in something that has to do with art. A few things have happened in my life that has caused me to take this path. Three people that I have interacted in some way, are the reason for my choices.
When you love to do something, you want to do it every day, all the time, till you get sick of it. Even then that excitement and devotion to do it is still there. That is how I feel about art. I have a great passion for it. It is a form where I can express myself in a way words can’t.
Everyone has a talent but some talents show more than others and defiantly impact your life more than others might. My talent that has greatly impacted my life is music and public speaking. These talents have greatly impacted my life because this is a part of my career and they will change my life forever so the fact that I enjoy it makes my life that much better.
Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
My proclivity towards engineering probably sparked from the Einstein quote “Everyone is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will spend its whole life believing it is stupid.” When I read this quote I eagerly tried to discover my talent. Then it readily flickered inside of me; the ecstasy of studying mathematics, physics, and technology hour after hour was my endowment and enjoyment. Although, I love to study and am eager to learn about new things each and every day, topics like literature, sociology, and history make me want to hide under a rock. So it wasn’t a surprise as I choose to be an Engineer. Because, when I study through the various field of engineering, everyday is like a holiday; I...
I’m the only person in my family that is not good at math. My cousin went to Columbia University because of her math talent. However, I’m the best for art and I always felt proud for my art talent.
“Life is about being a versatile athlete and training in all realms of life.” Although I am not a naturally athletic person, this quote by Ray Lewis still embodies a motif that does relate to me- versatility. I am a woman of many talents and skills, from creative writing to chemistry. It is not just my actions that define me as versatile, however. The best indicator of my versatility is something that cannot be detected by the naked eye- that is, my mind.
The Creative Arts play a significant role in early childhood education as it provides children with a diverse range of skills to enhance their learning and development to meet the needs of succeeding in the 21st century. Educators can promote The Arts by adopting the Reggio Emilia approach to education, encouraging children to co-construct the curriculum to develop their skills in partnership with teachers, families and their cohorts. The focus of this essay is to emphasise the value of Creative Arts in early childhood education by providing a summary of the concepts and skills of the Creative Arts and the four strands; Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts. Then, ascertain how Creative Arts benefit children’s social development, language and
It has taken a very long time for me to decide on the path that I wanted to take for my career. I have almost always known that I wanted to be an engineer. I was always more interested in applying my knowledge to solve problems rather than just research and understand the world. However, I had little to no inkling as to which field of engineering I wanted to go in to. I had always been a dabbler, involving myself in a large variety of activities with the interest of learning about how stuff works. I started out learning how to use the tools in the shed outback, making pinewood derby cars and model rockets. I would help my dad with home improvement and repair projects around the house. As time went on, my ability learns and apply
Many times in life people are astonishingly skilled in one area, and this is tied back to vocation. A profession or career is something you go through extensive training for, the skills are not there to begin with. With vocation, the skills are embedded into the soul and mind of the person and the profession chooses you, not you choose the profession. It may feel like just because you are well-versed in music or are fluent in the language of mathematics that you would choose to go into a career field having to do with this skill, but if you already had a particular set of skills that you seemingly developed on your own, then the career chose you, and in turn, you received a
Without a doubt, being a highly respected photographer would be my dream career. The type of job that wouldn 't feel like a job because it is one of my favorite hobbies. Growing up I always noticed how much longer I took to take a picture of someone than when they did the same for me. I soon realized that I actually had a passion for getting the right shot that I understood that not every pictures the same and that certain angles made others look better in places. The praise I received for taking a lot of these pictures motivated me. I liked that I hardly ever got told to take these pictures over and I loved that I was always the one chosen to take them time after time. Once I understood that I had this passion for photography I made sure a camera was the first thing on my Christmas list that year. I also knew that there was nothing but room for improvement, so i sought out private lessons which I worked and saved up for.
