I always felt that Pharmacy is the field that would give me the practical skills to acquire knowledge and get a high standard education.
In my secondary school days, I quickly realised that my favorite subjects are science based and I particularly enjoyed the laboratory practicals. Out of all the science subjects, Chemistry and Mathematics are my favourite. My passion for these two subjects started straight from primary school when we were taught some science and calculations. Chemistry and Mathematics have given me the practical and analytical skills needed to do pharmacy. In Chemistry, am able to carry out experiments which include salt analysis and titration where I use accuracy and attention to detail skills while in Mathematics have learnt various statistical methods which I know will improve my career as a pharmacist. Growing up in a business oriented family has made me have passion for work. I am currently working at Ark Promotion Organisation as a sales assistant, which is giving me the opportunity to excel in my communication skills, team working and organisational skills. Moreover, I look forward to working in a local pharmacy.
I love science related courses most especially when health is involved. What made pharmacy a personal interest is that I love to help people get well and just do not like to see people in pain. My childhood ambition was to become a medical doctor, a person who can help people get well. I later realised that my practical skills will be more useful in the pharmacy field than that of the medicine. Since then I have nurtured it in my heart to be a pharmacist.

Over the past few weeks I have been researching my interests, values, and goals. Throughout this research a lot of things that were already evident to me, were proven for a fact. My interests included researching different aspects of science and data analysis. Analysis has always been a big part of my life because I analyze everything. My values have been proven to be centered toward helping people and being around people. These interests and values are almost equivalent with what my goals in life have been over the past years. For the past few years I have wanted to become some type of pharmacist or physician. In this paper, I have researched what being a pharmacist and physician involves.
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
Since my early schooling days, science and mathematics have always fascinated me given that all components of the world are explained on the basis of these disciplines. In this regard, Pharmacy which is based on Chemistry and Mathematics has interested me a great deal as it has direct impacts on our daily lives. The more I have become familiar with the chemistry and mathematics knowledge involved in pharmacy, the more I have appreciated its significance in improving the lives of people in the community. Out of the many careers that one would opt to pursue, Pharmacy has stood out as the career that will enable me serve the society more directly and have a real impact in the quality of peoples’ lives by touching their health. In addition, I love a career that is challenging and one that I will be involved in even in old age. In this case, Pharmacy offers me this opportunity. My interest in Pharmacy has also developed from my personal health experiences and becoming aware of its expansiveness. Every time I have had to take medicine to cure an illness, I have become more interested to know how drugs are made and how the drug components work in the human body to alleviate pain and restore health. I desire to pursue a career in Pharmacy so as to gain practical experience in these aspects of research.
You may wonder why I would want to pursue this career. My parents are both pharmacists, and they constantly encourage me to pursue a career in the medical field because there is never a shortage of work. When you ask people what you think when word “pharmacist” come to your mind? They often say pharmacist have to deal with variety of legal drugs. From my personal opinion, when I hear the word “Pharmacist”, I think of helping others. This inspiration came from my Health Science class I took in twelve grade. Until senior year of my high school, I did not know what I wanted to be. But it all changed, after my first shadowing experience at pharmacist station. There I learn about what exactly the pharmacist career is about, what are some of the equipments used in the field and how I can contribute the knowledge I receive here to help others.
The last aspect in my career that I had to develop is the ability to be prepared at all times. Pharmacy is a full time career that occupies most of your time. It is very important to be always ready to help anyone in need of your assistance. Preparation could be done in multiple ways, but
I have always been inspired by the workings of chemistry and mathematics. My studies of these subjects have developed my understanding and have made me pursue my interest in these two topics. I want to take up chemistry as it involves a large amount of mathematics which I value and understand to be challenging, yet very enjoyable, as there is always an alternative route to obtain the answer. Additionally, I am drawn to the course because it is a mixture of all these exacting subjects, forming a degree that is very demanding and stimulating. Chemists are constantly thinking of new ways to produce viable drugs containing different isomers to improve the pharmaceutical sector using mathematical equations. Chemistry is about innovation, applying information to new areas and how to do things better than they were before, the degree appeals to and fascinates me.
By continuing my education at Pharmacy school I can do just that while also learning how to help better people’s lives in a big way. Pharmacy as a profession is the perfect blend of everything I could want in a career. It’s in the healthcare field, it allows me to work with other people and patients, it is a stable career that can be done anywhere in the country, and it is a challenging field that will keep me intellectually stimulated. I long for the days when I’m working in the Pharmacy and I can advise patients and help them to be healthier in their adherence to medication and lifestyles. I want to make a difference in people’s lives and as a Pharmacist I can do that.
This career choice interests me because the thought of something being chemically made and being able to help a human being is exciting. That alone would have me interested enough o pursue the pharmacy technician pathway. I also like to help people in need and meet people with struggles of their own. Also I am a very organized person which is crucial to someone who wants to be a pharmacy technician. I strongly feel I would be satisfied which this career choice because it obtains all of the factors I look for in a job.
The role of the pharmacist has drastically changed and increased over the years. What use to be one or two avenues of choice has grown to include multiple avenues for pharmacists. When searching for the right career path in pharmacy, one must take many things into consideration. One should have an idea of which various avenues of pharmacy they like and compare them. If they have no idea what they have interest in, then they should try taking a few surveys.
A Pharmacy Technician career caught my interest after high school. My mother was a nurse at the time, and I was trying to figure out what to do with my life. A career in the medical field sounded great to me, and I love to help people. I had to find a suitable position and working in the pharmacy seemed like the type of career that met that requirement. Pharmacy is a great way to be a part of the medical field without having to see blood or change bandages.
I do plan on following through with the pharmacy track. It still peaks my interest, and I am excited to learn all I can about it. At this time, I believe a community pharmacy or an outpatient health system pharmacy would be the best choice for me. I would get to interact with patients every day and form relationships. I would also have a regular schedule. I know my hometown pharmacists fairly well, and I have shadowed there once. I plan to try to shadow in different environments if I can, as well. I also still have a dream of working in pediatrics, so I hope I can still pursue that career as a
The importance of the becoming a pharmacist should not be about what the career can give a person in monetary value or the amount of accolades one receives. Instead, the career should be about saving and improving human lives and serving the public. Pharmacists keep people healthy, make them feel better, and try to help the public live longer and happier lives as long as possible. From small infant children to the elderly, everyone needs pharmaceutical care. Sometimes it can be a matter of life and death if medication is not available to the public. Pharmacy as a career would be a wise decision if a person could withstand the amount of education the profession entails.
I must work very hard in school to become this, because it will not be easy. I need to become a pharmacist because I am not interested in anything else besides health care. A career as a clinical pharmacist seems to be the goal was working up to my entire life, even before I knew what it was.
