College 101 was a basic, yet informative introductory course to start college off with. When I first came to clark, I was dumbfounded and confused, the school was a lot bigger than what I was used to and I barely had a clue where to find my classes, much less the resources I didn’t know I had. After taking College 101, the big, scary world of academics suddenly became a lot smaller, and a lot less scary. College 101 taught me about Clark College in general, as well as the resources it offers. Additionally, College 101 gave me a goal to pursue. Instead of being at Clark simply because I “think I should,” I’m at Clark because I want to help people - preferably through education. A resource that Clark College offers is their Career Cruising center. Here, one can learn about all of the potential careers they may be able to pursue, as well as the implications and requirements expected to come along with their personal career choice. Career Cruising can take a student with no direction or idea what they’re doing, and give them the resources and options they need in order to make a decision on what …show more content…
In module 5, I took the Smarter-Measure Assessment, a test which, to be honest, I was dreading. I thought it would be a boring waste of time, but I was wrong. Smarter Measure gave me a lot of valuable information about my personality, as well as the way I should study. It brought my time-management skills to attention, as well as my study type. Thanks to the Smarter-Measure Assessment, I now know that I am a aural, solitary and physical learner. The information given to me in module 5 gave me the ability to base my study habits off of my study type, and because of that, I am a lot more prepared to face the challenges that college usually brings. I never would’ve gotten that useful information if I had not taken College 101 in the first

Intro Deciding what you want to study during your college career can be a difficult and tedious task. This is due to fact that many young adults coming out of high school are unsure of what they want to do or what path to take career wise. It is also tedious because this requires that these individuals have to constantly try and explore new avenues so that they can find their passion in life. The path I chose to take when coming out of high school was entering the business school at Howard University.
I have often wondered what it would be like to experience the freedom of choosing my own class schedule. This has to be infinitely more stimulating and enjoyable. I am also aware that college will be significantly more challenging, but I have always found it easier to study for a class that interests me. I am willing to accept the fact that as long as I am in school, there will be required courses which may not engender excitement or enthusiasm; however, success should not be as difficult to achieve due to the maturity that is developing during this last year of high school. In addition, I have gained an understanding of the benefit of being well rounded. There is value in all classes taken. It helps to know that even my least favorite subject will contribute to the ultimate goal of personal and career development.
Up until this year, before taking the class intermediate composition, I thought I was a terrible writer. I was right. Writing isn’t something that I enjoy doing, nor am I good at. Writing is difficult for me because I’m not very good at explaining things in a professional manner, that can be easily well written. While writing you are expected to make little to no mistakes, which is not something I’m great at. I am so much better at explaining things with verbal words rather than written words. I had not taken any extra writing classes before this year rather than the mandatory ones. Like I had stated before, I hate writing, with a passion. I dread writing anything, especially an essay for school, like this one. I’m
Initial Reflective Essay When I first thought of what I wanted to do with my life after college, the first thing I thought of was helping people. The next step in deciding what I wanted to do with my life was to examine how I could accomplish this goal. I started pondering and I was thinking about how much I love to take care of my body. Health care and personal hygiene has always been an important factor in my life. So I decided to major in Health Sciences.
I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
Everyone has a different way of learning things; I like to think that I am a more visual learner. However, the smart measure assessment has brought to my attention that I may actually have multiple ways of learning. The assessment has actually informed me of a lot of my strengths in each section but the sections that caught my attention are Learning Styles, Reading Rate & Recall, Technical Competency, and Technical knowledge.
As I walked into college I wasn’t sure what to expect. While I had seen what movies portray college to be I knew that realistically it isn’t like that. I was timid to see how I would get around and function in this whole new world. Through personal experience and through watching the mistakes of others I have gotten a good introduction to what my future years are going to look like. My classes were also a major key to having a successful first college semester, they taught me to be responsible and be on time.
My parents always said that once you start working, you cannot stop. I found that hard to believe before I got my first job, but it became more apparent and true as the years passed. Throughout my short, yet significant career development experiences, I have gained a better insight as to what my future career might look and be like. My career development experiences have ultimately strengthened and shaped the person I am today. The foundation for my understanding of my career choices can be traced as far back as my childhood, important life events, and my current interests along with hobbies. Consequently and thankfully, all of my previous work experiences have made me stand out from the other 50,000 ASU college students.
Writing assignments over this course of time have gave knowledge and taught new processes for specific types of assignments. My attitude overall this semester has changed towards the writing process, as before I only use to pay attention to developing my three main ideas. Now I give attention to throws cited, grammar, structure and organization of the paragraphs. Essay’s overall presentation, problem solution and convincible factors lead to a good essay. This essay reflects level of difficulty or ease to produce essays, all the possible tasks and processes involved, and writing process of specific essay.
At the start of this class, I made a goal to develop my writing skills to better prepare me for other courses for my degree. I knew English 106 would be different compared to any other English or college courses that I have taken. I knew English 106 environment will let me grow in diverse writing dimensions. My long serving years of experience in the military has exposed me to many cultures around the globe. In just seven weeks of the course, I have seen some improvement in my writing. This course has afforded me with several techniques that have made writing not only a little bit easier but also more in-depth resulting in a higher level of academic writing versus my normal military style writing. Now I understand the writing process and
Reflective Senior Essay The quad-year expedition through high school was an interesting one for me. I took an approach that starts off great and blissful and then takes a turn that not everyone would approve of. I started on a peak and rode the slope down pretty fast and hard. A wild and enjoyable ride but a very regrettable one also.
