No two parents have the same style and rules. This is because every person is different, and most have different aspirations for their children. Of course all want the best for their children, but the way they get there are all different. The typical styles are warm or cold, strict or permissive, and authoritarian or authoritative. Most parents have a mix of these styles that make them the right fit for themselves and their child. Parenting styles are important to the development of their child and it shapes who they will be. The first style is cold or warm parenting. Warm parenting is typically shown as close relationships between parents and children, it typically involves a lot of affection and saying “I love you” multiple times a day. This can expand to the whole family as well, and is typically normal in family life. Cold parenting, however, is not as affectionate and close relationships are not as common. Usually they’re is little expression of emotions or sayings of “I love you”, but this does not mean the family does not love each other. Both of these styles have pros and cons on the children, warm children can be very compassionate and confident, but can be almost too close to their parents. The pros of being in a cold family is that you can be independent, but the cons are you are less confident and don’t trust others as much. Most parents are a combination of these, which can be beneficial because you get pros from both of the types of parenting. The next style is strict or permissive parenting.
