Although this doesn’t have anything to do with the film, it provides a little information of what’s events are taking place in 2000s. The 2003 classic film is based on women rights and civil war. In just 1920, the 19th amendment gave women the rights to vote. Women should be given equal rights, Women are Strong, Adaptive and Smart. The main characters in this classic films are separated by civil war instead of family. In short, the film is a real story based on a soldier confederate in North Carolina but the character Ada Monroe, is fictional. Therefore, Cold Mountain is compared to the movie “the Mexican”.
Both films involved romance between two characters who were separated almost throughout the entire films. The main actors Nicole Kidman who played Ada Monroe, and Jude Law who played Inman, the confederate soldier who left his unit to travel south to meet his wife Ada works really hard, convincing viewers and related to the characters. The supporting cast also made great impact and gives fascinating performance in the film while the leads takes charged(Ebert). Ruby Thewes, one of the main characters in the movie played by Renee Zellweger, is a keen example of how smart women and independent women can be. Ruby was mistreated as a child, she had to learn how to take care of herself. At a young age, Ruby was already taking on manly roles. Ruby even stated that, “Ain't no man better than me. On account of there's no man around here that ain't old, or full o' mischief” (Minghella, Cold Mountain).About 77% people liked the long 154mins film which is seem to be really captivates audience attentions from the beginning to the end(Ebert).s Cold Mountain maintain its anticipation through complex character

In Cold Blood is a true account of a multiple murder case that took place in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959, written by Truman Capote. Capote’s attention to detail causes the reader to gain an extreme interest in the Clutter family even though they were an ordinary family. The suspense that is a result of minimal facts and descriptive settings was an elaborate stylistic technique that gave effective results throughout the book. His ability to make this account of a horrid crime more than just a newspaper description was a great success as a base of his many literary devices, not just is great focus to small details.

It always leaves someone wondering what will happen next in Ruth and Idgie’s adventures. On the other hand, Steel Magnolias has a viewer questioning from the start whether Shelby will have a child or not. Is it really possible that she is willing to risk her life for this dream of hers? The support for Shelby really shines through with the chemistry between these six main characters. They all know each other better than they know themselves. The same thing goes for Ruth and Idgie. When Ruth’s husband abuses her, Idgie helps her friend by getting her away from him and on to start a better life for her baby. The wisdom and truth in some of the conversation from Fried Green Tomatoes is quite phenomenal. Steel Magnolias also keeps the viewers attention with the hilarious dialogue. The jokes these women play on each other and poke fun at one another is probably the best part of the movie.
The disruption of an all-American society plays a key factor in In Cold Blood because of the effect it has on the story. In Holcomb, Kansas, the community’s order is disrupted through the murdering of the Clutter family. “Nevertheless, when the community lost the ...
Cold Mountain is a popular book and movie written by Charles Frazier. Cold Mountain is a book about two lovers, Inman and Ada, during the Civil War, who depart on separate journeys in hopes of reuniting with one another. The novel is viewed as the physical journey of Inman from the Civil War to Cold Mountain and the inner journey of Ada, but people neglect the sheer importance that Inman’s spiritual journey has on the book. Inman’s physical journey is really non-connected episodes that are linked together by the thread that is Inman’s spiritual sense. Inman regains his spiritual sense, gradually, through the entire novel ending where he achieves redemption and self-completeness with his death. Inman’s journey is that of a spiritual sense where he crosses the void from the world of war to the world of spiritual belief which he left behind at Cold Mountain.
The novel Cold Mountain is about two peoples’ independent journeys through different struggles and situations at the same time. One of these people is Inman, an injured soldier who is trying to find his way home after deserting from the fighting. He meets a lot of strange people along the way. Some of them help and some of them hinder. However, they all teach him something about himself, or something that he can relate to himself. There are some characters that are more significant in this respect than others and they have more of an actual influence on Inman’s journey.
A central theme in Frazier’s “Cold Mountain” is solitude/isolation, the loneliness that many characters in the novel experience guides them in their search for meaning in a world that is torn by war and hardships. Inman (a soldier/warrior that is battle fatigued and is trying to get home) feels a sense of overwhelming loneliness and growing confusion with the human world because of his war experiences. He is also plagued by a spiritual desolation that is suggested when he listens to many talk about their tales of hardships, but he rarely shares details of his own past. But through his loneliness he cultivates an otherworldly spirituality, similar to the goat-woman, (an old lady Inman meets in his travels that feeds him and gives advice) that
Capote's structure in In Cold Blood is a subject that deserves discussion. The book is told from two alternating perspectives, that of the Clutter family who are the victims, and that of the two murderers, Dick Hickock and Perry Smith. The different perspectives allow the reader to relive both sides of the story; Capote presents them without bias. Capote masterfully utilizes the third person omniscient point of view to express the two perspectives. The non-chronological sequencing of some events emphasizes key scenes.
Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier is a story about a man, named Inman, who is forced to fight in the Civil War. All the men who are healthy and fit enough have to go fight in the war and they leave their families and loved ones behind. For Inman, this was his beloved Ada. Unfortunately, Inman gets shot in the neck and is transported to a hospital to recover. But, this was not a completely bad thing because when he is well enough to move, Inman leaves the hospital and begins his journey back to Cold Mountain in search of Ada. Along the way violence is a central focus throughout the story. Inman does not want to commit acts of violence, on purpose, especially in the beginning of the book. If he had to commit an act it was purely because of survival; however as his journeys home continues I think he commits them more
When she betrayed the animals by being with a human it gave you a feeling that there were more animals that could be traitors. In the movie since there was no Mollie, you did not even have a feeling of suspense for what was going to happen later on. In the book, there was many surprises that shocked me. One of those surprises was that Napoleon wanted Snowball ousted.
Tobias Wolff is framing his story Hunters in the Snow, in the countryside near Spokane, Washington, where three friends with three different personalities, decide to take a trip to the woods for hunting in cold, snowy weather. The whole story follows the hunting trip of these three friends. The reader can easily observe that the cold, hostile environment is an outward expression of how the men behave towards one another. Kenny, with a heart made of ice, is rather hostile to Tub, while Frank is cold and indifferent to Tub and his pleas for help. The environment is matching the characters themselves, being cold and uncaring as the author described the two from the truck when they laughed at the look of Tub: “You ought to see yourself,” the driver said.
Survival and Love in Charles Frazier’s "Cold Mountain" I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.
Russell Crowe won the 2000 Best Actor Oscar for Gladiator, and in this movie, he doesn’t give anything less of a great performance. Crowe successfully buries his personality beneath Nash's, allowing the character to come alive and for the audience to see inside his mind. And, when it comes to the sequences showing Nash battling his demons, Crowe's performance is convincing. At the same time, Jennifer Connelly is wonderful as Alicia. She does well depicting a woman torn by love for and fear of the same man.
