The purpose of the project was to determine the effect of coffee, tea, or soda on the tooth enamel. The project was to determine which drink causes more damage to the tooth enamel. The hypotheses of the project were that coffee would stain your teeth. The eggs that was left in the tea or soda I thought would be less stain than the coffee. The egg that was left in the coffee will look more stain than the tea or soda, but then it turns out the egg in the Coca-Cola was stained more than the egg left in the coffee or tea.
The first part of the procedure in this project was to boil nine eggs. After that I place three eggs each in three separate containers with one cup each of tea, coffee, or Coca-Cola. The egg was monitored for three days while
The purpose of this experiment was to identify which brand of mint gum holds its flavor the longest. The four brands I chose were Orbit, Trident, Ice Breakers, and Wrigley's Doublemint My hypothesis was that Trident brand would last the longest and Wrigley's Doublemint would last the shortest. I did not use any people in my test. I chewed the same amount of gum at a time and the gum was all the same flavor, mint. All the gum was bought at the same time from the same store. I chewed the four brands of gums between periods of time. When chewing, I timed myself with a stopwatch. When I believed the gum ran out of flavor, I stopped the timmer and recorded the time. My hypothesis was incorrect. Instead of Trident, Orbit lasted the longest. However
5. Place a tiny pinch of egg cysts onto a large sheet of white paper.
My hypothesis for the penny cleaning with the chemicals experiment was accepted. The hypothesis was; “If a penny is placed in salt and vinegar, then it will get cleaner than the other chemicals being used”. The data used from the experiment that supports the hypothesis was that the salt and vinegar chemical cleaned a penny the best it had a 90 out of 100.
The scientist determined how much caffeine, and sugar was in each liquid. In order from least to greatest dealing with the amount of sugar in each liquid, is Coffee, V8 Splash Tropical Blend, Arnold Palmer, then Coca Cola. From least to greatest dealing with caffeine is Coca Cola, V8 Splash Tropical Blend, Arnold Palmer, then Coffee. As a result, the scientist believes that if the different liquids are placed in different cups with the eggs, and left for a week, then the Coffee will have the biggest effect on the eggs, because it has the most caffeine and sugar. To test this hypothesis, the scientist will start by pouring four ounces of each liquid into four different cups, and an egg in each cup. The scientist will check on the eggs every day for one week to observe and collect any noticeable changes on the eggs. The scientist will then record our data in our lab
For my 6th grade science fair project I chose to find out which drink is better for you and which drink improves performance more, Gatorade or Powerade. I chose this topic because I am an athlete, and it would be nice to know which drink is healthier, along with which drink replenishes better. My group members and myself formed hypotheses to answer these questions. I hypothesized Powerade would be healthier because it has vitamins B-3, B-6, and B-12, while I thought Gatorade would improve performance more because it has more electrolytes, sodium, and potassium. We tested our hypotheses by doing research online and performing experiments.
My experiment is testing one of the five senses of my dog, Blaze. I am testing for taste. In this experiment the question I am going to answer is, Which of three flavors of treats will my dog prefer? The treats are made by the same company, Beggin’ Strips from Nestlé Purina PetCare Division, but they are different flavors. The flavors used will be Hickory Smoked Bacon, Bacon & Cheese, and Bacon & Peanut Butter. My hypothesis for this experiment is, Of the three flavors my dog will prefer the Bacon & Cheese flavor the best. I chose this topic for my experiment because I have a major interest in animals and I am hoping to get a degree in some form of veterinarian services, such as zoology.
Going into details of the article, I realized that the necessary information needed to evaluate the experimental procedures were not included. However, when conducting an experiment, the independent and dependent variable are to be studied before giving a final conclusion.
My hypothesis for this experiment was that a increased caffeine rate would negatively affect plant growth and well being. I thought this because caffeine is a basic substance and increased base in large quantities is known to negatively affect plant growth. My data proved my point to be accurate because in the increased base(more caffeinated) trials the plants grew slower, weaker, and they had a decreased germination rate as well as health issues. The average height of the control group on day three was 19mm, in comparison the average height of the group that had been watered with an added 400mg of caffeine in their total water supply was 0 mm on day three. On day 7 the control groups height averaged 107mm while the 400 mg group only averaged at 22.0 mm.
The very first step of my experiment is to get all the equipments and materials I need. What I need for this experiment are six kinds of berries I chose, enough yeasts, x-ray machine and materials for comet assay. The first step of my experiment is to give berries to the yeast. I will give berries to yeast by blending the berries using the blender, and then whiz it, so I can add the juice from the berries to the yeast. While I am doing my experiment I will have to decide how much juice I add to yeast. Then after adding the juice I will x-ray the yeast with the x-ray machine, with the help of an adult. After x-raying the yeast I will use the comet assay technique to see if it damages it or no. My final step is to collect the data.
Label test tubes #1-#5. 2. Used 5 different barrel pipettes, added onion juice up to the 1 cm mark of the first test tube, potato juice to the 1 cm mark of the second, deionized water up to the 1 &nb 3. Used the last barrel pipette, added Benedict's Reagent to the 3 cm mark of all 5 test tubes and mixed with a toothpick. 4. Heat all 5 tubes for 3 minutes in a boiling water bath, using a beaker, water, and a hot plate. 5. Remove the tubes using tongs. Record colors in the following table.
What is your favorite soda? Coke? Do you know what is in soda? Cutting down on soda can be the geginning of a healthy lifestyle. Studies show that soda, though it tastes good, has many negative effects that outweigh the positive effects. Soda, especially diet, is detrimental to the health of your body.
Repeat test 1-3 for the other 3 temperature reactions, but before you move on, you have to place both test tubes in a graduated cylinder and place it in either an incubator, water bath, or hot plate to adjust the temperature for 3 consecutive minutes.
The independent variable of our assignment was the amount of sugar added to water. The dependent variable was the days that the flowers stayed alive. The levels of the independent variable were no sugar, five milliliters of sugar, ten milliliters of sugar, and fifteen milliliters of sugar. The control group of the science experiment was the vase without any sugar added to the water. The main constants of our project were the amount of water in each vase, the temperature of water in each vase, and the type of flower used. There were three repeated trials of the
Plan 1. Collect 4 different sized beakers 2. Boil some water in the kettle 3. Pour 50ml into each beaker 4. After 1 minute check temperature 5.
These test tubes were each given 0.75 grams of yeast and a balloon was quickly placed over the top of the test tube. The test tube was shaken, being made sure that none of the liquid-yeast mixture splattered into the balloon, and then placed into a beaker of warm water. The water was heated up to approximately 75 degrees
