I need to produce an analytical report on how a medium-sized or large
business manages human resources. I should show the importance of the
human resources management to the business, providing a comprehensive
overview of all four of the following functions and focussing in depth
on one of the functions:
* Human resources planning
* Recruitment and selection
* Training and development
* Performance management
I am going to relate my human resource coursework to UK Coca Cola
London-Edmonton branch and explain in depth how human resource is
managed there.
A Little History about Coca Cola
Coca Cola was invented on 8th May 1886 by Dr John S Pemberton in
Atlanta, Georgia – USA. The name Coca Cola was suggested by Dr
Pemberton’s bookkeeper, Frank Robinson. He penned the name Coca Cola
in the flowing script that is famous today. Coca Cola was first sold
at the soda fountain in Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta. During the first
year, sales of Coca Cola averaged nine drinks a day, adding up to
total sales for that year of £50. Today, products of the Coca Cola
Company are consumed at the rate of more than one billion drinks per
day in around 200 countries.
Human Resource management is workers within a team that contributes
towards the business's objectives. Human Resources Management
department incorporates the Personnel department functions and
develops them. The role of HRM is to enable workers to contribute to
their maximum efficiency towards the objectives of the business. Human
Resource management is needed for every business small or large and it
is so resourceful to have a human resource department in the business
which will make the employees to achieve company objectives on time
well organised.
Human Resource is mainly about how employees get managed in the
business, main parts of human resource are recruitment and selection,
performance management and finally training and development.
The business should not do mistakes in recruiting and selecting a
wrong new employee because that can result with reputation of company
going down, company’s money and time are being wasted plus stock
losses or sale level going down. For these reasons the human resource
department should choose the right person who can offer the right
skills to help the team of workers to meet the company objectives.

Payment is usually linked with motivation where it is related with
performance. An extreme case is piece-work where there is no basic pay
and payment is totally based on output. Home-workers in the rag trade
or casual agricultural workers such as fruit-pickers are often paid in
this way and also in several poor countries managers sometime delay
wages time because of less outcome. More usually, basic pay is
supplemented by performance-related pay in the form of a bonus or
commission for excellent results.
In general it has become accepted that, although a workforce that is
not motivated will work, the quality and efficiency of work improves
with motivation. It is therefore the role of human resources
management to understand what motivates employees.
Over the years numbers of management theories have been put forward in
an attempt to explain the nature of motivation and suggest ways in
which it may be improved.
In Coca Cola factory which is in Edmonton-London pay is the main
motivator and second motivator is increasing experienced worker
responsibility so the worker learns new skills and the job becomes
more interesting for him or her.

How Reality TV affects the audience and the characters who were participating into it? Does it really give knowledge to people who were watching and supporting? Or is it just the sake of money and exposing their appearance on television? When it comes to watching television, people at home can choose which types of program they want to want for many reasons. Some people look to television for inspiration; others want to be kept informed about their surroundings and the world. In the article entitled, “Reality TV and Culture” by Jack Perry, he argues, there are some good points to how reality television are formed and offered. Perry explains that, not all of the shows are designed to encourage and promote dangerous and unrealistic. However,
It is no secret that reality television shows often present contrived situations as reality. Many producers claim that there are no scripts used in the production of reality shows. They maintain that nothing in the lives of the participants is planned purely for viewers’ entertainment, and that what is presented in the show is their actual reality. However, most people know this to be untrue to a certain degree. The events and situations in reality shows are often staged, re-enacted, or cleverly edited to make them appear more dramatic, thereby more interesting, than they are. Elizabeth Larkin writes, “After so many “reality” programs, we can discern a pattern of “characters” that isn’t very far different from the stock characters found in fictional programming. There’s the sweet and naive person from a small town looking to make it big while still retaining small town values. There’s the party girl/guy who’s always looking for a good time and who shocks those around them—and the list goes on” (Larkin 290). Participants in reality television shows are often looking to gain wealth and fame, and they are willing to do anything necessary to achieve that.

...abulary when Dr. Elieen Cole started to help Lewis’s character improve in moving and speaking. Dr. Cole specialized in developing therapies to treat patients with cerebral palsy and made a huge impact in Christy’s life by assisting him to reach his full potential with his art. At first, Christy was hesitant about the therapy sessions, but eventually allows Dr. Cole to work with him at home. For an exercise to help Christy speak, he was told to read the Shakespearian play, “Hamlet”. Christy read the famous lines, “to be or not to be”, which means to live or not to live. Christy eventually responded to the quote by taking action and achieving his goal of having his art that was beautifully painted by his left foot displayed in a gallery. Christy’s obstacle was to be able to control his disability, and successfully achieved his goal by working hard with Dr. Cole.
The popular press article I chose is titled How to Spot an Abuser Before It’s too late by Laura Riley. Laura Riley gives nines warning signs towards if a person is in a relationship with an abusive person. In her years of research she has found that most abusers do not use words to deal with problems. They tend to lash out by hitting someone or something. She explains this as infantile behavior. Another sign she gives is if a person is very possessive. This is how abusers obtain control of their partner by pushing them away from friends and family and normal everyday activities. Another sign is jealousy. Abusers tend to be very insecure so they get overly jealous when their partner talks to the opposite sex. She also has analyzed that if your partner reiterates that you’re the only one for them. The abuser has you on a very high pedestal, so once you disappoint them it gives them all the more reason for them to lash out on you. Another sign is if th...

Management spends a huge amount of time to design incentive systems and schemes to motivate their workers and to ensure they work in their best possible manner. Motivating workers by giving them decent pay helps in winning employees heart to make the work done efficiently, significantly and effectively. The most effective way to motivate people to work productively is through individual incentive compensation (Pfeffer, 1998). An attraction of getting more is a powerful incentive to people for high performance. While most people agree that money plays a major role in motivating people, in organizations there is a widespread belief that money may also have some undesirable effects on morale.

An important part of the retention of staff, reducing staff turnover and minimising absenteeism at work is ensuring that staff are properly motivated. This is not as easy as it sounds. At first glance, you might be tempted to think that merely increasing wages is the way to motivate! Not so. Most thinkers on the subject would argue that motivation is a far more complex issue than merely 'money'.
