As the era of War and Depression was coming to a close, a new America was on the rise. Women began taking their place within the role of housewife while teenagers were careless with their actions. Since the Great Depression was over, the economy was booming and all the worries about money were gone. Race and segregation was still a problem and becoming more and more controversial. African Americans were fighting for desegregation, especially in schools such as in the Board v Brown case. While the new era brought on some social changes, many known changes came from one man known as “The King of Rock and Roll”: Elvis Presley. With Market potential on his mind, Sam Phillips of Sun Records was looking for an artist who appealed to both whites and blacks, found just what he was looking for in Elvis, a man with a white face and a black sound. Phillips managed to find an artist who appealed to the largest consumer base; white society. Presley’s music would go on to revolutionize future genres along with the people themselves. Elvis Presley did not only impact fashion, attitude, music and views on race during the 1950s, but also had a profound influence regarding these aspects that can still be seen in today’s society.
One of the many adversities he had to adapt to was the feuds of the East and West Coast. This influenced his songs and the way his fans depicted the East Coast, Bad Boys. He also had to deal with the way blacks were treated and looked at by the white community. Although his music brings up many controversy, he is undoubtedly a big part of the way African Americans are being depicted today. He reached the people not just through his music but by the constant protests for equality also while striving for the betterment of his the African American community. The way that society and media looks at African American people and hip hop music are all rooted from

You know him as the singer, the dancer, and the song writer. As the famous Artist whose words were often binary. To give just a preview of the topics that will be discussed, in this paper I will provide a short biography of Michael Jackson, the onset of his career, a brief description of Pop Music, and his impact and legacy on pop culture and other singers as well. Michael Jackson, the name that the majority of people, including those who do not listen to his music, have heard at least once in their lifetime. He began to love the excitement of being under the spotlight, entertaining the audience with all eyes fixed on him. And that is the core element of fame, especially in the pop music industry, which he later changed for good.
In his song, “I’m Not Racist” he speaks on the topic of racism, where he says really offensive but true things. The song wasn’t made to show who is right or wrong because they both have really good points, the song was made to get people to start conversations and the song, “I’m Not Racist” is right now his most known song. His song, “I’m Sorry” talks on the topic of suicide, where he tell both sides of the person having the thoughts of suicide and the friend of the person who gets affected by his friend commiting suicide and also it is the first song I heard by him. He actually never experienced depression nor had anyone close to him have these thoughts he wrote these lyrics by watching movies and hearing about how people feel about suicide. In
The line of stylish crime thrillers is long and filled with as many winners as there are duds. Thankfully, director Cédric Jimenez has a real winner on his hands. With the Scorsesean formula - bombastic and stylish set-pieces, musical moments, clever camerawork - there is a lot of room to fail, if only in the sense that failure is the age old triumph of style over substance, the understanding of a film being solely relegated to the understanding of its surface elements. To craft a good crime thriller of this genre necessitates a deft hand, balancing the stylish elements with a human connection. It’s reassuring, then, that The Connection is able to strike a good balance between its gorgeous but subtle seventies-inspired crime moments and the
