The need among Americans to be diverted in ever more imaginative ways -- through high-thrill parks, virtual reality arcades, and theme restaurants, plays right into the hands of Dave Corriveau and Buster Corley, co-founders and CEO’s of Dave and Busters. The duo’s 50,000 square foot complexes include pool hall, an eye popping, cutting edge midway arcade, a formal restaurant, a casual diner, a sports bar and a nightclub rolled into one sprawling complex. In business since 1990, this is a high energy, highly efficient operation that’s comparable to a Vegas extravaganza. As a matter of fact there are even “for fun” cashless blackjack tables, with fake $10,000 chips. Pricey, but not outrageous, and you get value for your money.

Blackwell: Unbound in the second installment in Wadjet Eye's five-part Blackwell series (I encourage you to play them in order, Blackwell: Legacy is reviewed here). The sequel serves as a prequel, starring Rosangela Blackwell's aunt, Lauren Blackwell. While Blackwell: Unbound, for the most part, stays true to the original design ethos, Wadjet Eye strives to focus some of the mechanics from the first game. Is Blackwell: Unbound's mystery of The Countess a step in the right direction for the point-n-click series?
The RAND Criminal Investigation Study conducted in the 1970's resulted in that detective and investigative work was basically time consuming and wasteful. The results were that patrol officers could resolve a case and that investigators or detectives were puppets of the district attorney (Hoover, 2014). The RAND Study resulted in that a responding patrol officer could gather factual findings and solve a case, regardless of the nature or severity of it.

The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin has 16 detectives but by and large the most effective was 13 year old Turtle Wexler. It 's not a true Ratchet & Clank game if we don 't talk about its goofy and diverse cast of characters. One of the things I love most about this game, and have loved most about the series, is how self-aware it is, not that the franchise hasn 't been.
The idea of a detective catching an elusive convict or solving an improbable crime has been prevalent in all corners of the world, spread throughout many cultures and societies. The detective genre is held as the idea that an individual has to solve a crime. This detective usually has nothing to gain from solving the crime, but they see it more as an obstacle. The detective doesn’t always take every case, as human beings, we are too often curious of the impossible; our natural instinct is to question why and how things work in this world. People crave mystery, to taste a bit of improbable, to see what the detectives see, to see what is overlooked by many. As a mulatto in the late 19th century, Detective Nicholas Rey faced discrimination from both white and black society. He was assigned the case of solving the serial killings, but could do little to actually solve them given the materials at his disposal. The police department gave him the title of detective yet didn’t allow him the tools a detective would need to solve a case. He was not even given a weapon to carry. The police likely knew the case was possibly dangerous and very difficult so they shoved it off onto someone whom they did not care if they failed. Rey was used to working hard to get past the setbacks that society threw his way so he dove into the case, ready to solve it.
Mysteries have always held great fascination for the human mind, not least because of the aura that surrounds them and the realm of the Unknown into which they delve. Coupled with the human propensity of being particularly curious about aspects which elude the average mind, the layer of intrigue that glosses over such puzzles makes for a heady combination of the literary and the popular. In the canon of detective fiction worldwide, no detective has tickled the curious reader’s imagination and held it in thrall as much as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. The 221-B, Baker Street, London ‘amateur’ detective combines a rare blend of intellectual prowess and sharp wit to crack a series of baffling riddles.
